Chatham Southgate Mobile Home Introduce
For individuals and families exploring the "RV Parks Near Me" category who are specifically seeking long-term or permanent mobile home living solutions, Chatham Southgate Mobile Home in Chatham, IL, is a community that warrants careful consideration. Located at 601 S Main St, Chatham, IL 62629, USA, this community functions as a mobile home park, offering a residential option distinct from transient RV campgrounds. Prospective residents can contact the park at (217) 483-3257 or +1 217-483-3257.
Chatham Southgate Mobile Home is situated in Chatham, Illinois, a village located just south of Springfield, offering a more suburban or semi-rural environment compared to the state capital. The park's address on South Main Street places it within the established fabric of Chatham. While specific natural features directly surrounding Chatham Southgate Mobile Home are not extensively detailed in public information, the general environment of Chatham is characterized by its small-town charm, community-oriented atmosphere, and proximity to larger city amenities in Springfield. Chatham aims to provide a pleasant living experience, with various parks and local services. The walk score of the area suggests it is car-dependent, meaning residents would likely rely on personal vehicles for transportation to shops, services, and recreational opportunities. The presence of other mobile home parks nearby, such as Chatham Villa Mobile Home Park and Blue Spruce Mobile Home Park, indicates that this is a recognized form of housing within the local landscape.
Mobile home parks typically provide basic services to support their residents. However, based on the provided customer reviews for Chatham Southgate Mobile Home, there are significant concerns regarding the reliability and quality of these services. While a complete, official list of services provided by Chatham Southgate Mobile Home is not publicly available, common amenities in mobile home parks generally include:
Lot Rental: Residents typically own their manufactured homes but rent the land or "lot" it sits on.
Utility Connections: Access to essential utilities such as water, sewer, and electricity. Natural gas is also common in Illinois.
Waste Management: Often, trash collection services are included or arranged by the park.
Basic Maintenance: This can vary widely, but often includes upkeep of common areas, roads within the park, and sometimes snow removal.
The reviews, however, strongly suggest a deficiency in the practical delivery of these services, particularly concerning maintenance. One review states, "don't expect to ever get anything fixed," indicating a severe issue with responsiveness to repair requests. While mobile home parks may offer features like paved streets or shared recreational spaces, the effectiveness of these features is heavily dependent on consistent maintenance and management. Without direct official information, it is difficult to detail further features, but the customer feedback points to challenges in the park's operational quality.
The customer reviews for Chatham Southgate Mobile Home are critically negative and provide a stark warning to prospective residents. One reviewer describes the community as a "terrible neighborhood" and advises, "If you can't afford much this still isn't a good place to live." The most significant concerns raised relate to property management and staff conduct. The "landlord is a slum lord," and there's an explicit warning not to "expect to ever get anything fixed." Furthermore, the reviewer alleges that the "manager" is "a major drug addict and a drunk so don't expect to call him if you need anything!" This raises severe questions about the professionalism and reliability of the on-site management. The reviewer also highlights a pervasive "drama" that is difficult to avoid, even when staying to oneself, and warns that if one doesn't "care that the trailer you are renting falls down around you then this IS the place for you!!!" This paints a picture of a dilapidated, chaotic, and poorly managed living environment, where residents may feel unsafe and their homes neglected. The reviewer expresses a desire to move but is unable to due to disability and financial constraints, underscoring a feeling of being trapped in an undesirable situation.
A second review, while slightly less vehement, corroborates some of these concerns. It describes the park as a "Decent place to live" but immediately adds, "Dawn, the 'manager' is an absolute physco though." The reviewer was considering purchasing a trailer home but was "completely disgusted by the lack of respect and general disposition of those in charge." This feedback, though mentioning a different "manager" by name, reinforces the theme of unprofessional and problematic management behavior, which can significantly impact the quality of life for residents. The term "physco" suggests erratic or abusive behavior, which is a severe concern for any residential community. Both reviews point to fundamental issues with the park's management, maintenance, and overall living conditions, advising strongly against residency. The phrase "slum lord" indicates that homes and common areas may be poorly maintained, potentially posing health or safety risks to residents. The cumulative impact of these reviews suggests that potential cost savings, if any, might be offset by significant challenges in daily living and a lack of support from park management.
Chatham Southgate Mobile Home, as a mobile home park, inherently targets individuals and families seeking more affordable and potentially long-term housing solutions compared to traditional site-built homes. Its inclusion in searches for "RV Parks Near Me" might be for those considering a stationary manufactured home as an alternative to a transient RV lifestyle, or perhaps for very long-term RV parking. However, given the severe negative feedback from residents, any promotional efforts would likely focus on affordability or a sense of community, but these claims would be heavily contradicted by the direct experiences of current residents. The reviews indicate that despite any potential affordability, the quality of life, safety, and management responsiveness are significant deterrents. For anyone considering Chatham Southgate Mobile Home, it is absolutely crucial to prioritize conducting thorough due diligence. This should involve:
Direct Inquiry: Contact the park directly at (217) 483-3257 to inquire about current lot availability, rental terms, and explicitly ask about maintenance protocols and management structure.
On-Site Visit: A personal visit to the park is essential to observe the current conditions of common areas, roads, and individual homes. This can help verify the claims made in the reviews regarding disrepair.
Speaking with Current Residents: If possible, attempting to speak with residents on-site can provide invaluable, unfiltered insights into the daily living experience, management responsiveness, and community atmosphere.
Given the strong negative sentiments, any decision to move into Chatham Southgate Mobile Home should only be made after a comprehensive investigation of the concerns raised in the reviews, with a clear understanding of the potential challenges regarding maintenance, management conduct, and overall living conditions. The park's address and contact information are provided, allowing interested parties to initiate this essential due diligence process.

Chatham Southgate Mobile Home Reviews
Terrible neighborhood! If you can't afford much this still isn't a good place to live. The landlord is a slum lord, don't expect to ever get anything fixed. The "manager" well he's a major drug addict and a drunk so don't expect to call him if you need anything! You can't stay away from the drama even when you stay to yourself. I mean if you live for drama and don't care that the trailer you are renting falls down around you then this IS the place for you!!!

Jun 08, 2022 · Rob ColemanThe owner of the land discriminates against service animals based on weight. Had the money to buy one of the properties and was denied because of a medically registered service dog. not emotional support animal, a service animal.
Jun 28, 2022 · DawnThe owner is a slum lord only half ass fixing things that go wrong in his trailers because he's too cheap to pay to get it done right.
Jun 14, 2018 · Beth BrownThis place is a dump. The owner could care less about the condition of the facility.
