Colonial RV Park Introduce
If you are searching for "RV parks near me" in the Mandan, North Dakota area, Colonial RV Park, situated at 4631 Memorial Hwy, Mandan, ND 58554, USA, presents a somewhat unique situation as it is currently in the process of being sold. According to recent customer reviews, while the future of the campground under new ownership is uncertain, the current experience offers a friendly owner and convenient access, albeit with some limitations in on-site amenities. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available feedback, highlighting both the positive aspects and the current drawbacks of staying at Colonial RV Park.
One of the recurring positive points in the reviews is the helpfulness and responsiveness of the current owner. One guest traveling for work with their husband noted that the owner was "quick to answer questions or help with anything you need." This suggests a level of personalized service and attentiveness that can significantly enhance a traveler's stay, especially when navigating unfamiliar surroundings or requiring assistance with campground logistics. Another reviewer also had a "great experience with the owner," despite an initial slightly unsettling late-night arrival, further reinforcing the positive interactions with the park's management.
However, a significant drawback mentioned in one of the reviews is the lack of on-site shower and laundry facilities. This absence can be a major inconvenience for RV travelers, particularly those on longer journeys who rely on these amenities. The reviewer notes that this lack of facilities caused Colonial RV Park to lose a star in their rating. While the park does not offer these amenities directly, there is a laundromat conveniently located right across the street. This proximity provides a solution for laundry needs, but the reviewer also points out a potential downside: the laundromat also houses a dog washing service, which occasionally results in a "smell like wet dog." Despite this olfactory issue, the laundromat's accessibility is acknowledged as a benefit.
Colonial RV Park's location directly on Memorial Highway (a busy highway) might initially raise concerns about noise levels. However, one reviewer explicitly states that "although it's right by a busy highway the noise was not bad at all." This suggests that the park is situated in a way that effectively mitigates highway noise, allowing guests to enjoy a relatively peaceful stay despite the proximity to a major thoroughfare. This is an important consideration for travelers who prioritize a quiet environment for sleeping and relaxation.
The fact that the campground is in the "middle of being sold" introduces an element of uncertainty for potential future guests. As one reviewer points out, it is unclear whether the new owners will continue to operate the property as an RV park or repurpose the land for other development. This situation means that the current positive experiences might not be indicative of future stays if the campground undergoes significant changes or closes altogether. Travelers should be aware of this transitional phase when considering Colonial RV Park for future trips and perhaps inquire about the expected timeline and plans of the new owners, if that information is available.
Despite the ongoing sale and the lack of on-site showers and laundry, the positive feedback regarding the current owner's helpfulness and the manageable highway noise suggests that Colonial RV Park can still offer a pleasant stay, particularly for those needing a convenient overnight stop or who have their own facilities. The easy access to a nearby laundromat, albeit with a potential odor issue, provides a workable solution for laundry needs.
One reviewer who initially felt "a little sketched out" due to the after-hours check-in process (paying via Venmo) and the presence of people on the street upon arrival, ultimately reported a comfortable stay and a great experience with the owner. This highlights the importance of looking beyond initial impressions and considering the overall quality of service and the actual experience of staying at the park. The willingness of the owner to accommodate late arrivals and the positive interaction that followed contributed to a satisfied guest who would stay again.
The reviews do not provide specific details about the environment of the RV park itself, such as the size and layout of the RV sites, the presence of trees or landscaping, or any recreational amenities. Information about pet policies is also not explicitly mentioned, although the proximity to a dog wash at the laundromat across the street might suggest that pets are generally welcome. Similarly, details about Wi-Fi availability, utility hookups (water, electricity, sewer), and any other services offered at the individual campsites are not included in the provided feedback.
Given the ongoing sale and the limited information about on-site amenities, it is difficult to ascertain any specific promotional offers that might be in place. Travelers interested in staying at Colonial RV Park should contact the current owner directly at (701) 663-9824 or +1 701-663-9824 to inquire about current rates, site availability, and any updates regarding the sale of the property. Asking about the long-term prospects of the RV park under new ownership might also be a prudent question for those considering future stays.
In conclusion, Colonial RV Park in Mandan, ND, offers a convenient location on Memorial Highway with a helpful current owner who is praised for their responsiveness and positive interactions with guests. While the park lacks on-site showers and laundry facilities (though a laundromat is conveniently located across the street), the highway noise is reported to be manageable. However, prospective guests should be aware that the campground is currently being sold, which introduces uncertainty about its future operation and potential upgrades. For those needing a temporary stopover in the Mandan area, especially if self-contained or willing to use the nearby laundromat, Colonial RV Park appears to offer a pleasant experience under the current ownership. It is recommended to contact the owner directly for the most up-to-date information regarding the sale and the park's services.

Colonial RV Park Reviews
Traveling for work with husband. Campground is in the middle of being sold, so not sure if new owners will keep campground or close it to built something else. However, our stay here was very nice. The current owner was quick to answer questions or help with anything you need. It loses a star because there were no showers and laundry facility but there is a Laundromat right across the street. Only thing is that it smells like wet dog as it is also a dog washer inside the laundromat, yet it is easy access. Although it's right by a busy highway the noise was not bad at all. I would definitely stay here again. Hope if new owner keeps the campground, they do more upgrades for a very pleasant stay.

It was after hours and the man who answered said we could pay via Venmo. Once we arrived, which was later in the evening, there was a woman standing in the middle of the road and a couple of other people walking back and forth on the street. However, our stay was comfortable and we had a great experience with the owner. Very happy with our stay and would stay here again.

Aug 31, 2024 · Raymond LitzI stay here every time I come to Bismarck, for pleasure or on business. I’ve always found the owner friendly and accommodating. I love the location because it’s right on the Bismarck-Mandan Bike trail. I can get on the trail and ride to Fort Lincoln State Park and over the bridge to Bismarck. Accessing many eating places. It’s fairly quiet and centrally located. I love it and therefore give a five star rating
