Dockweiler RV Park Introduce
Are you searching for exceptional "RV parks near me" that offer a unique camping experience in the Los Angeles area? Consider Dockweiler RV Park, situated at 12001 Vista Del Mar, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293, USA. With its prime beachfront location, Dockweiler RV Park presents an opportunity to camp right on the Pacific Ocean, providing breathtaking views and direct beach access. You can reach them at (800) 950-7275 or +1 800-950-7275 for inquiries and reservations.
One of the most significant advantages of Dockweiler RV Park, as highlighted by customer reviews, is its unparalleled location directly on the beach. Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves and stepping out of your RV onto the sand. The incredible ocean views are a consistent point of praise, offering a picturesque backdrop for your stay. Furthermore, its proximity to popular destinations like Venice Beach and Santa Monica, within a 15-20 minute drive, makes it a convenient base for exploring the vibrant coastal culture of Los Angeles.
For those who enjoy active recreation, the availability of electric bikes for rent right on the beach adds another layer of appeal. Imagine cruising along the coastline, enjoying the fresh sea air and the stunning scenery. This amenity provides a fun and convenient way to explore the surrounding area and take in the quintessential Southern California beach vibe.
Another positive aspect frequently mentioned in reviews is the friendly and helpful staff. One reviewer specifically noted being "treated very well" and experiencing a smooth check-in and overall stay. The presence of security personnel also contributes to a feeling of safety within the campground, which is an important consideration for any traveler.
However, it's crucial to consider the less favorable aspects highlighted in other reviews to gain a balanced perspective. One reviewer with a "dry camper" (an RV without its own bathroom and shower facilities) reported a significantly negative experience with the park's communal showers. They described the showers as having a very short duration of water flow (around 30 seconds) and lacking warm or hot water, ultimately leading them to seek alternative showering facilities elsewhere. This is a critical point for potential visitors who rely on communal facilities.
Additionally, the same reviewer mentioned that the laundry facilities had been out of service for an extended period, reportedly "at least six months and counting" based on other reviews they had read. The availability of functional laundry facilities is often a significant factor for travelers, especially those on longer trips, and a prolonged outage can be a major inconvenience.
Another point of concern raised is the proximity of the RV sites to each other, with the reviewer stating that campers are "on top of each other" and that personal space can be invaded. This suggests that the campground might have a relatively dense layout, which could impact the feeling of privacy and spaciousness for some visitors.
The location of Dockweiler RV Park directly across from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is also a notable environmental factor. While one reviewer mentioned that the constant noise of airplanes was "really not a huge bother" for them, this is a subjective experience and could be a significant disturbance for other individuals sensitive to noise. Potential visitors should consider their tolerance for airport noise when making their decision.
Finally, a critical point raised in one review is the perceived value for money. The reviewer explicitly stated that the campground is "absolutely not worth the price" given the limited availability and quality of the advertised "amenities." They went on to suggest that paying a little extra for a hotel room or a nicer campground might be a more worthwhile option. This sentiment highlights a potential discrepancy between the cost of staying at Dockweiler RV Park and the actual experience, particularly concerning the amenities.
In conclusion, Dockweiler RV Park offers a unique and highly desirable beachfront location in Playa Del Rey, with stunning ocean views and convenient access to popular Los Angeles attractions. The friendly staff and security presence are also positive aspects. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues with the communal showers, laundry facilities, potentially crowded sites, and the proximity to LAX, which may result in noise. Furthermore, the perceived high cost relative to the provided amenities is a significant factor to consider. For local users searching for "RV parks near me" with a beachfront setting, Dockweiler RV Park presents a compelling option, but it is crucial to weigh the exceptional location against the reported limitations in amenities and potential environmental factors to determine if it meets your specific needs and expectations.

Dockweiler RV Park Reviews
2 stars because you can see the ocean. Listen, if you have a camper/RV with your own bathroom and shower, you're golden. If you're in a dry camper this is just flat out going to suck for you. Showers stay on for about 30 seconds and the water doesn't get hot (not even warm) we ended up going to a planet fitness to shower. Laundry has been out (according to the reviews I read) at least six months and counting. You are on top of each other and people invade your space. You are across from LAX and planes are constant - really not a huge bother. I will stay the staff is SO nice and security is present, felt very safe. This campground is absolutely not worth the price and you get about zero of the "amenities" that they offer. Pay the extra $50 and get a hotel room or a nicer campground.
Apr 21, 2025 · Ashley JacksonWe really enjoyed this RV campground run by the LA county. The spot is right on the beach and the views are incredible, 15-20 minutes driving distance from Venice Beach and Santa Monica. There are also electric bikes for rent on the beach if you enjoy a ride.We were treated very well and everything went extremely extremely smoothly during our 2 night stay.Highly recommended!!
Apr 21, 2025 · Enrico MasiniMy husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks while visiting friends in LA. We loved that the park was on the beach and we were able to walk to some restaurants and locations via the beach.Just a heads up, the RV park is county run.The bathrooms were not well maintained and the water in the showers only stayed on for about 30 seconds before you had to press the button again. The codes to the bathroom change every Monday, but they don't tell you this in the front office, even when you have a reservation for more than a week. The laundry room was also out of order with no indication of being fixed anytime soon. There is a sign on the door telling you to go to a laundry mat 3 miles down the road. The rate should be adjusted for this.I was also really unhappy with the staff in the office. I had a package sent to me and the package was declined without my knowledge. I wish they would've looked me up.Overall, the location was great and there's potential for this to be a great park, but the service could use improvements.
Feb 21, 2025 · Kelly DresslerTried to stay here but wasn't even given the opportunity to inquire about details before being run off at entrance. Didn't know it at the time but this was a good indication of how the rest of the area turned out. From here to gas stations and restaurants in Long Beach was a tremendous disappointment. Some reviews here describe a positive experience so I am hesitant to drag them too much, but there's nothing here worth returning to spend money on in my opinion. Your mileage may vary though!
Jan 06, 2025 · Jon Scott (Jon)The beach is directly infront of your site if in water front but during the winter a sand bar is up and blocks all the water so do not pay more for water site in winter. The park isn’t monitored so loud parties are not quieter. Quiet hours not observed. We left day early because of noise , they didn’t allow refund even though we left at check out. So that was disappointing. Remember you are near lax so plane noise is often
