Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the Fort Scott, Kansas area, Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park, located at 2152 Native Rd, Fort Scott, KS 66701, is one option that may appear in your search results. To help you make an informed decision, we've compiled an objective overview based on the available customer reviews found online. It's important to note that these reviews present a mixed picture, and potential visitors should consider all perspectives before making a booking.
One reviewer who stayed in January 2023 reported a significantly negative experience. Their review, which they noted was no longer visible online at the time of their subsequent posting, described the park as not resembling a "resort" suitable for nightly travelers. Key concerns raised included uneven ground ("nothing was level"), the presence of "huge holes" that posed a safety hazard during setup, and a lack of lighting upon arrival at night. This reviewer also mentioned the absence of on-site workers during their late arrival. Furthermore, they described the toilet facilities as being outside of what appeared to be the restroom, and noted "ax markings" on the restroom doors, contributing to an overall feeling of unsafety. Despite these issues, the reviewer stated they received a refund after staying only one night due to the circumstances.
This same reviewer also mentioned difficulties in contacting anyone initially but noted that the park management did reach out after their initial negative review was posted. Their follow-up comments, based on a recent drive-by, indicated that the park might still be undergoing improvements or construction, which they claimed was not disclosed on the park's website. They also expressed suspicion regarding the high number of 5-star reviews, advising potential customers to seek proof of the park being "up to standard" before booking, given that others were still reporting similar negative experiences.
In contrast to this detailed negative account, another reviewer offered a concise positive statement, describing Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park as a "Great place to stay!!!" and commending the owners as "hospitable" and actively "improving the park." This stark difference in experiences highlights the potential for variability in conditions or services at the park over time, or perhaps differing expectations and experiences among visitors.
Considering the platform category "RV parks near me," the information available for Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park presents a cautionary tale. While some visitors may have had positive interactions and observed ongoing improvements, the detailed negative review from 2023 raises significant concerns regarding safety, site conditions, and transparency about any ongoing construction or development. The disparity in reviews, as pointed out by one customer, underscores the importance of seeking the most current and comprehensive information before making a reservation.
Potential visitors might want to directly contact Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park at the provided phone numbers, (620) 509-0104 or +1 620-509-0104, to inquire about the current state of the park, the availability of level sites, the condition of the facilities, lighting at night, and any ongoing construction or improvements. It would be prudent to ask specific questions based on the concerns raised in the negative review to ascertain the current situation. Requesting recent photos of the RV sites and facilities might also provide a clearer picture of what to expect.
For travelers relying on online reviews to select "RV parks near me," the case of Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park serves as a reminder to look for patterns in feedback, consider the date of the reviews, and be wary of a significant imbalance between very positive and very negative accounts. It's also important to note if negative reviews seem to disappear or are no longer visible, as this could indicate an attempt to present an incomplete picture of the park's history.
In conclusion, while Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park has received at least one positive review mentioning hospitable owners and ongoing improvements, the detailed negative review from a past visitor raises serious concerns about site conditions, safety, and transparency. Potential guests are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence by contacting the park directly, asking specific questions about the issues raised in the negative feedback, and possibly requesting recent visual evidence of the park's current state before making a booking. The significant discrepancy in the available reviews suggests that experiences may vary, and relying solely on the limited information available online carries a degree of risk. When searching for "RV parks near me," it's always best to gather as much current and reliable information as possible to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.

Fort Scott Crossroads RV Park Reviews
I stayed here January of 2023. My review is no longer showing. Not sure if they changed the name? When we stayed it looked like long term people were living there and it was certainly not a “resort” for nightly travelers. Nothing was level and there were huge holes we discovered as my husband tried to hook up and fell in one. No lights (we arrived at night) and no workers. Toilets were outside what was supposed to be the restroom and there were ax markings on the doors to the restrooms. We did not feel safe at all.We did get a refund and only stayed one night (arrived at 10pm with nowhere else to go). We could never get ahold of anyone but they sure contacted us after the first negative review.I’m posting again bc we just drove by and I was curious if this place ever got better. From the looks of the reviews, this place is still “under construction” which is not posted on their website. The photos posted did not convey what was truly there and I found it suspicious there were so many 5 star reviews. Take notice of the disparity in these reviews as you read them. And mine was no longer listed.I highly recommend you ask for proof this place is up to standard before you book. I know a lot can change in 2 years but there are people still saying the same thing and I don’t want anyone getting duped.
Dec 08, 2024 · B&K AusteneGreat place to stay!!! Owners are hospitable and are always improving the park.
Apr 02, 2025 · Ben TeafordThis place is a joke. It is under construction and there were 10 sites but most of them look like people that stayed there a long time. I had reserved one spot and we were moved to another spot. I asked for pull thru, hoping we could keep our automobile connected. But the campsite was so uneven that we had to unhook, just to get the trailer level. there is no pool, it's all grown up with weeds around it. And nobody around, it might be a nice place someday, but not now.
Aug 24, 2024 · Donna TuckerWe didn't even stay here. Drove through, beginning of the off season, and there was one guy staying there. He came out to talk to us and must have been on commission because he tried real hard to talk the place up. Nope. The roads, if you can call them that were super bumpy and not at all maintained. The pool was covered, but not completely, there was a sign that said no pets in the playground. There is no playground. $45 a night? Absolutely not. We're staying at Linn County Lake for $16 and it's level, and beautiful! I just read a one star review from someone who did stay here and said many of the same things and more. The new management said it was all due to renovations. That was 9 months ago. All spring and summer, and if they did the renovations at all, I didn't see any of it today, in November.
Nov 19, 2023 · Shauna RobinsonWhile in need of a last minute arrangement, the owner was exceptionally responsive and accommodating!
