Highland Falls RV Park & Marina Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the Highland Falls, New York area, Highland Falls RV Park & Marina presents a waterfront location with some basic amenities. However, it's essential for local RV enthusiasts to be aware of both its potential benefits and significant drawbacks, as highlighted in recent customer reviews, to make an informed decision.
Riverside Environment and Hookups: One of the primary advantages of Highland Falls RV Park & Marina is its location directly "on the river," presumably the Hudson River, offering potential waterfront views for some sites. This scenic environment can be a significant draw for those who appreciate being close to the water. Additionally, the park does offer "hookups," which are essential for many RV travelers, providing connections for electricity, water, and sewer at the individual campsites. The availability of these basic utilities is a fundamental requirement for comfortable RV living.
Friendly Staff Interaction: A positive aspect mentioned in the reviews is that "the lady was nice," indicating that interactions with the park's management or staff are generally pleasant and helpful. While this is a subjective point, positive customer service can contribute significantly to a positive overall experience during your stay.
Significant Noise Concerns from Trains: A major challenge reported by a recent visitor is the pervasive noise from trains. The review explicitly states that trains run "25 feet from RVs 10+ times a day and night," which is a very close proximity and a frequent occurrence. Furthermore, the noise is compounded by trains running across the river, which are described as "surprisingly loud." This level of noise pollution could significantly impact the peace and quiet of your stay, potentially disrupting sleep and overall relaxation. For individuals sensitive to noise, this factor should be carefully considered.
Narrow Campsites and Limited Awning Use: Another significant drawback mentioned is the narrowness of the campsites. The review notes that sites are "very narrow," leading to RVs being parked very close to each other. This close proximity can result in limited space for opening awnings fully, potentially reducing your outdoor living area and sense of privacy. Adequate space between RV sites is often a key factor in the comfort and enjoyment of an RV park.
Lack of Essential Amenities: Despite potential claims on a website (which is not provided but referenced), the reviewer explicitly states "No shower house." The absence of shower facilities can be a significant inconvenience for RVers, especially those who prefer not to rely solely on their RV's onboard shower, if equipped. Additionally, the lack of a "picnic table" at the sites further limits the outdoor convenience and functionality of the camping space.
Limited Waterfront Views and Pricing: The review indicates that only "around half" of the approximately 12 sites have a view of the river. This means that if a waterfront view is a priority, it is not guaranteed and may depend on availability. Furthermore, the price is stated as "$100 cash," which, in conjunction with the limited amenities and noise issues, may be considered high by some RV travelers. The requirement for cash payment is also a point to note for potential guests.
Concerns about Cleanliness and Maintenance: The presence of "a bit of trash and junk strewn about" raises concerns regarding the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the RV park. While not explicitly detailed, this observation suggests that the aesthetic and possibly the functional condition of some areas might be less than ideal.
Potential Restrictions for Non-RV Visitors: A separate review from an individual who was not parking an RV indicates a potentially unwelcoming attitude towards non-guests. After stating their intention to look at the old train station and the river, they were informed that the area was "Private Property" and felt compelled to leave. This suggests that the park primarily caters to overnight RV guests and may not be open for casual exploration of the surrounding area.
Objective Summary for Local RVers: For local RV owners seeking "RV parks near me," Highland Falls RV Park & Marina offers a location on the river with essential hookups and a reportedly friendly staff member. These are its main positive attributes based on the provided reviews. However, there are significant drawbacks that need careful consideration. The intense and frequent train noise, narrow campsites, lack of a shower house and picnic tables, potentially high cash-only price, and concerns about cleanliness are all factors that could negatively impact the camping experience. The limited number of sites with river views also means this desirable feature is not guaranteed.
No Specific Promotional Information Available: The provided information does not contain any details regarding promotional offers, discounts, or seasonal rates for Highland Falls RV Park & Marina. Local users interested in potential deals or extended stay options would need to contact the park directly using the provided phone number to inquire about any current specials.
Recommendation for Local Users: Given the significant concerns raised in the reviews, particularly regarding the train noise and lack of expected amenities like showers, local RV enthusiasts should carefully weigh the pros and cons before choosing to stay at Highland Falls RV Park & Marina. If a waterfront location and basic hookups are your absolute priority and you are not particularly sensitive to noise, it might be a viable option as a last resort, as one reviewer suggests ("If you have no other option, it can work out"). However, it would be prudent to inquire about the specific site you might be assigned to regarding its proximity to the trains and potential river view, and to confirm the current amenities available before making a reservation. Exploring other "RV parks near me" might be advisable to compare options regarding price, amenities, and environmental factors like noise levels.

Highland Falls RV Park & Marina Reviews
Please read the reviews. If you have no other option, it can work out.Pluses: it’s on the river. It has hookups. The lady was nice.Challenges: Trains run 25 feet from RVs 10+ times a day and night, plus trains run across the river and they’re surprisingly loud. Sites are very narrow, thus RVs are super close where the awning may not fully open. No picnic table. No shower house, despite website claim. Of the ~12 sites, around half half have a view. It’s $100 cash. There’s a bit of trash and junk strewn about.
Jun 07, 2024 · Scott MayWent down to take a look at the old train station and the river. Very Nice, But A lady came out of the station and afterstating my business told me the area was Private Property! Left soon after. Lovely Spot, Lots of History but if your not parking your RV there- You're Not Welcome!

Mar 30, 2023 · Olga Fernandes de Moura LeiteIf you don't mind the trains that pass every hour it's a nice stop with a beautiful view during the day. But be careful on the drive up at night.
Aug 08, 2017 · Veronica EadyI called in January to make reservations for an April weekend. Sally answered and told me it would be $100 a night and had to be paid in CASH upon arrival. I asked to get a confirmation for the reservations and Sally indicated it would not be needed as she is the only one there and would remember. My fault now as I agreed to the plan. I called her the day before arrival to make sure she remembered. She didn't. Being in MD at the time with wife, dog and camper I had nowhere to go. I was on my way to see family and this campground was relatively close. After an hour and a half I found an alternate campsite but much farther away. Be aware of dealing with Sally if you decide to go here.
