Hwy 22 RV Park

3083 TX-22, Hillsboro, TX 76645, USA

4.0
This is a very nice little RV park a short drive from either Hillsboro or Whitney, Texas with 12 RV sites and a small laundry facility on site. While it is not very big, it is rather well kept, and the manager/owner keeps everyone to some very reasonable rules to ensure the enjoyment of everyone there. The folks that own and operate this park are nice people who take their guests seriously. I would definitely stay here again. There are other parks nearby, but this one is nicer by quite a bit, and doesn't have a lot of janky rigs occupied by persons of questionable intentions. However, it is right on the road and things have and will "walk off" if left in plain sight. The road noise is only a nuisance when the occasional big-rig operates the Jake brake driving past, or kids hot-rodding in the middle of the night. With the AC running in the RV, I barely ever noticed anything outside. This is a good little RV park for what it is/costs, but I can't give it 5 stars for a couple reasons. The first reason is of no fault of the owners, but the second is an area they could improve.First off, this park is squarely in the middle of an area that AT&T has almost ZERO wireless voice or data coverage. Being an AT&T customer, I found it difficult to make/receive phone calls without problems inside or even outside the RV. . . and wireless data/internet, well, that's even worse. Since I travel for work, its important that I have good phone and internet available. I even spent a bunch of money buying cellular booster systems for my RV and vehicle, but as they say, you can't boost zero.Secondly, there is wifi available at the park for a reasonable fee. Initially, I wasn't able to make it work inside of my RV because of the low transmitting power of my devices. After a couple weeks, I got a wifi booster setup that made it work GREAT initially. However, somebody decided that park guests don't need anything more than roughly dial-up modem internet speeds, and my bandwidth was throttled to .4 mbps. This is my only real gripe. There was no guarantee made about internet speeds, but it worked perfectly normal for the first few hours I had things running, but then I was throttled down to a nearly pointless transfer speed (so slow that everything timed-out, no chance in the world of streaming a video or even making an internet voice call.) Rather than change the settings to something reasonable, the manager elected to give me my money back. Fair, but not the result I was hoping for. This is the one area that could be easily improved, and I hope for the sake of future guests, will be.In all, this is a great spot for folks who just want a clean and safe RV space to live in for a bit, and I wouldn't hesitate to send friends there or stay there again myself. Just be aware ahead of time that you'll need to bring your own phone/internet service, and that AT&T sucks a fat one in that area. - Brian Kennedy

Hwy 22 RV Park Introduce

If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the Hillsboro or Whitney, Texas area, Hwy 22 RV Park, located at 3083 TX-22, Hillsboro, TX 76645, USA, presents itself as a "nice little RV park" worth considering. You can reach them at (254) 580-9906 or +1 254-580-9906 for inquiries about availability and rates. Based on customer reviews, this park offers a clean and relatively quiet environment, managed by owners who are described as "nice people who take their guests seriously."

The environment of Hwy 22 RV Park is characterized by its smaller size, featuring only 12 RV sites. This can contribute to a more intimate and less crowded atmosphere compared to larger parks. It is conveniently located a short drive from both Hillsboro and Whitney, offering access to the amenities and services of these towns while providing a more rural setting at the park itself. The park is noted for being "rather well kept," suggesting attention to cleanliness and maintenance. One reviewer mentioned that "this one is nicer by quite a bit" compared to other nearby parks, particularly in terms of the quality of the rigs and the perceived intentions of the occupants, implying a focus on maintaining a positive community environment.

Hwy 22 RV Park offers several services and features aimed at providing a comfortable stay for its guests. These include:

  • Limited Number of Sites: With only 12 RV sites, the park might offer a more exclusive and less congested experience.
  • Laundry Facility: The presence of a "small laundry facility on site" is a significant convenience for travelers and long-term residents.
  • Well-Kept Grounds: Reviewers consistently mention that the park is "rather well kept," indicating good maintenance and attention to detail.
  • Reasonable Rules: The manager/owner is reported to enforce "very reasonable rules to ensure the enjoyment of everyone there," suggesting a focus on maintaining a peaceful and respectful community.
  • Attentive Management: The owners are described as "nice people who take their guests seriously," implying a responsive and caring management style.

Several features contribute to the overall experience at Hwy 22 RV Park. The park's smaller size can be seen as a feature, offering a more personal and quiet atmosphere. The emphasis on cleanliness and rules contributes to a sense of safety and enjoyment for all guests. The positive remarks about the owners/managers suggest a well-run park where guests are valued. However, it's important to note a significant drawback mentioned by a reviewer: the park's location within an area with "almost ZERO wireless voice or data coverage" for AT&T customers. This is a crucial consideration for travelers who rely on cellular service for communication or work.

Another feature mentioned is the availability of Wi-Fi at the park for a fee. While one reviewer initially had a good experience with the Wi-Fi after setting up a booster, they reported that the bandwidth was later throttled to very low speeds, making it almost unusable for streaming or internet voice calls. Although a refund was provided for the Wi-Fi service, this issue with internet speed is something potential guests should be aware of, especially if reliable internet access is a necessity.

One reviewer also noted that the park is "right on the road," which can lead to some road noise, particularly from large trucks using their Jake brakes and occasional late-night speeding. However, they also mentioned that with the RV's AC running, the noise was "barely ever noticed." This suggests that while road noise might be a factor, it may not be overly disruptive, especially with climate control running.

A more concerning review states that the "Manger is rude." and advises against going there without SSI, implying a potentially negative interaction with the management based on income status. This contradicts the positive comments about the owners being "nice people" from another reviewer, highlighting a potential inconsistency in management style or experiences. Prospective guests may want to consider this feedback alongside the more positive comments.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the customer reviews. Typically, RV parks might advertise weekly or monthly rates, seasonal specials, or amenities like free Wi-Fi. Given the conflicting information about the paid Wi-Fi's reliability, it's unlikely to be a major promotional point without significant improvement. To learn about any current promotions or special offers at Hwy 22 RV Park, it is essential to contact them directly via phone.

In conclusion, Hwy 22 RV Park offers a smaller, cleaner, and generally quieter option for those seeking "RV parks near me" in the vicinity of Hillsboro and Whitney, TX. The presence of a laundry facility and the enforcement of reasonable rules are positives. The owners have been described as attentive and nice by some reviewers. However, significant drawbacks include the very poor AT&T wireless service in the area and potential issues with the paid Wi-Fi's speed and reliability. Additionally, one review raises concerns about the manager's rudeness and potential bias regarding income. Prospective guests should weigh these factors carefully. If reliable cellular service is crucial and high-speed internet is needed, this park might not be the best fit without verifying recent improvements. It is recommended to contact Hwy 22 RV Park directly to inquire about current rates, Wi-Fi service updates, and to get a clearer sense of the management's approach based on recent experiences.
