Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park Introduce
For local residents seeking "RV parks near me" in the Gilbertsville, Kentucky area, Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park, located at 59 Kentucky Lake Resort Rd, Gilbertsville, KY 42044, USA, presents a compelling option for a tranquil and potentially extended stay. Situated in a location offering convenient access and a spacious environment, this RV park appears to be a hidden gem for those looking for a more relaxed and community-oriented experience. While some aspects of the facilities might be described as "dated," the overall atmosphere and the kindness of the people seem to create a welcoming environment for RV travelers.
The environment of Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park is a significant draw, according to customer reviews. The park boasts "so much land," providing ample space for guests to enjoy the outdoors. A "gorgeous pond to fish" offers a recreational amenity right within the park, perfect for anglers of all levels. The presence of a "beaver family to watch" adds a unique natural element, allowing guests to connect with local wildlife. The park is also described as "peaceful and tranquil," a welcome contrast to more bustling campgrounds. Despite its serene setting, it is conveniently located "right off the highway," offering a balance of accessibility and quietude. For local users seeking a spacious and nature-rich environment for their RV, Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park appears to offer a refreshing escape.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide a mixed but generally positive outlook. While one reviewer noted that the "public bathrooms are bit dated," they also acknowledged that they are "clean." This suggests that while the facilities might not be modern or luxurious, they are maintained to a satisfactory level of cleanliness. The park is described as having "lots of permanent and long termers, with a few shorter stays," indicating a community feel that might appeal to those seeking a more settled environment. The fact that "everything works" is a basic but crucial aspect, suggesting that essential utilities are functional. The park is also described as "pet-friendly," with one reviewer mentioning their dog having "room to run and fetch," making it a suitable choice for RV owners traveling with pets. The presence of roaming "friendly cats" is also noted, which seem to contribute to pest control within the campground. The manager is described as "helpful, nice," and "always answers his phone," indicating responsive and positive management.
One significant feature highlighted in the reviews is the sense of community and the kindness of the people. Guests have described everyone as "kind and friendly" and recounted instances of fellow campers offering assistance, such as a gift of cat food. This strong sense of community can greatly enhance the RV living experience, especially for those planning longer stays. The affordability of the park is also mentioned, with one reviewer stating, "It’s a great deal for the price," suggesting good value for money, especially for those who might not require high-end amenities. The spaciousness of the sites is also implied, as one reviewer felt comfortable during their two-month stay.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge the negative review, which strongly advises against using the campground for an overnight stop due to the condition of the men's bathroom, describing a non-functional toilet, a removed toilet leaving a hole, and a collapsed ceiling with dangling wires in the showers. This starkly contrasts with the positive experiences of longer-term residents. This discrepancy suggests that while the overall environment and community might be positive, certain facilities might be in need of significant repair or renovation. Local users considering a short overnight stay might want to inquire specifically about the condition of the facilities they intend to use.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in staying at Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park should contact them directly at (270) 362-8652 or +1 270-362-8652 to inquire about current rates, availability, and any potential discounts for local residents or longer stays. It would be prudent to ask about the specific amenities available at the RV sites (e.g., electrical hookups, water, sewer), the condition of the public facilities, and any specific policies or rules of the park. Given the contrasting reviews regarding the bathroom conditions, it might be beneficial to ask for recent updates or clarifications on this aspect.
In conclusion, Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park offers a potentially attractive option for local users seeking "RV parks near me" in the Gilbertsville area, particularly for those valuing a peaceful environment, a friendly community, and spacious sites. The presence of a fishing pond and the pet-friendly atmosphere are additional benefits. The positive experiences of long-term residents suggest a welcoming and safe environment. However, the serious concerns raised in the negative review regarding the condition of the men's bathroom cannot be ignored. Local users should weigh the positive aspects of the environment and community against the potential drawbacks of dated facilities. Direct communication with the park management is essential to obtain current information on the condition of all amenities and to determine if it meets individual needs and expectations. For those planning longer stays and prioritizing a tranquil setting and a sense of community, Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park may indeed be a "hidden gem," provided they are comfortable with potentially older facilities or if improvements have been made.
Ultimately, local RV owners considering Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park should make direct contact to discuss their specific requirements and concerns. Asking about recent upgrades or maintenance to the facilities, especially the bathrooms, would be a wise step. Understanding the current state of all amenities, the pricing structure for different lengths of stay, and the overall policies of the park will enable local users to make an informed decision about whether this RV park offers the right balance of environment, community, and services for their needs near Kentucky Lake.

Kentucky Lake Resort and RV Park Reviews
We’re in the RV park. Public bathrooms are bit dated, but clean and it is lovely here. It’s got so much land, a gorgeous pond to fish and a beaver family to watch. Everyone has been kind and friendly. What a difference from the last place we were at. Definitely avoid Moon River in Cadiz. Our dog has room to run and fetch. I know our month here will fly by! Dollar General and food giant along with fast food is 8 minutes away down the road. It’s so peaceful and tranquil here. Surprised it’s not busier as it’s right off the highway too.Definitely a hidden gem.Update: we ended up here for 2 months sorting medical ! Everyone is lovely, kind and helpful. Manager is a helpful, nice guy who always answers his phone.Lots of permanent and long termers, with a few shorter stays. I don’t know why the negative reviews exist. If you want high end KOA then pay for a KOA.There’s families here and it’s clean and everything works. It’s a great deal for the price. Yes, some cats are free to roam the campgrounds, but there’s zero pests here and they are friendly cats. You could winterize with hay here and never see a mouse! One camper gave us a 22 lb bag of Friskies cat food his didn’t like. Truly kind folks here.We have felt safe here for 2 months.
Dec 15, 2024 · Liza AlexisDo NOT use this campground for an overnight stop! The spaces were fine although most of the campers are there permanently and some for a long time. Then came the bathrooms...The men's room had one functional toilet, one was removed with just a hole in the floor and the ceiling had fallen in over the showers with the light wiring just dangling. I think they are just letting entropy do its work until there is nothing left. Again, DO NOT stop at this campground.
Jul 09, 2023 · Rusty RandlesLove the place. Cant say enough good things about it. Prices went up quite a bit but the owner is the whole staff and anyone who ever worked housekeeping knows how gross and hard that can be especially when it's just you doing everything. Monty is always pleasant even middle of the night and is accommodating in every way. Love the fireplaces!
Oct 19, 2022 · johnna watsonLet’s start with what we found good here. The hookups are solid, power, water and septic all worked well. Most sites had a concrete patio, be it they have been there quite a while. Monte, the manager always answered the phone and was responsive. The price was great at $35 per night even on Labor Day. We booked a week out and it was the only place we could find a spot. Now for the rest. If you don’t have an onboard shower I would NOT recommend coming here, the bathhouses are pretty gross. There was a shattered bottle in the grass right beside our pad. Monte texted us the Wi-Fi but we could never even find it to log on and we were in the middle of the campground. There was a mix of transients, long stays and some units that have or will be there forever. In summary if you’re looking for a base of operations to be mobile from, this place works, it you’re looking for a campground to hang out in during the time you are in the Grand Rivers area, you might want to consider other campgrounds.
Sep 03, 2023 · Bryan LilleyThis "resort" looks like it was a very nice place in the 60's. It's looking very run down and probably struggling to stay open. We walked past the bathroom building and detected a bad smell from 10 feet away. We're in a self contained class A so we never use the campground bathrooms. Especially now, in this age of Covid.Half of the other camp sites appear to be occupied by permanent, poor locals. On the positive side:The manager, Monty is a very nice man. There is a beautiful pond out back with mowed walking paths. The campsites were almost litter free. The speed of the wifi on a scale of 1 to 10 would be around 7.It's only $30.00 per night. We'll search today for a campground on the "Big Lake".
