San Mateo Estates Introduce
For local users and travelers seeking "RV parks near me" in the San Mateo, Florida area, San Mateo Estates, located at 471 San Mateo Rd, San Mateo, FL 32187, USA, offers a combined RV and mobile home park setting. You can reach them at (386) 328-4866 or +1 386-328-4866 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of certain aspects of the park, including access, internal conditions, and staff interactions.
One reviewer highlighted the journey to reach San Mateo Estates, noting that "the road to get there was narrow and had a lot of twists and turns." They specifically cautioned that "some of the curves are blind ones," which could make navigating with a large RV "a little dicey." This information is crucial for RV owners, especially those with larger rigs, as it suggests that careful driving and awareness of the road conditions are necessary when approaching the park. Local users familiar with the area might already be accustomed to these road characteristics, but for those new to the vicinity, it's a significant factor to consider.
The same review also pointed out the dual nature of San Mateo Estates, stating, "This is a mobile home park as well as an RV park." This is an important distinction for those specifically seeking a dedicated RV resort experience. The reviewer observed that "the mobile home section looks like a neighborhood," implying a more permanent residential feel in that area. In contrast, the RV section caters to more transient visitors or those in RVs. Understanding this layout can help potential guests manage their expectations regarding the overall atmosphere of the park.
Regarding the internal infrastructure, the reviewer commented on the condition of the roads within the park. They noted that "the roads are not in good condition over there" in the mobile home section, while "the roads in the RV section are a little better but not great." This suggests that while the RV area might have slightly better infrastructure, overall road conditions within the park could be a point of concern for some visitors, potentially affecting the comfort of driving and setting up their RVs.
In terms of basic amenities, the review mentioned the availability of "a pool, laundry and dumpsters." These are essential facilities that most RV travelers look for, providing opportunities for recreation, hygiene, and waste disposal. The presence of these amenities is a positive aspect for San Mateo Estates.
Another, more long-term resident shared a perspective based on four years of experience at San Mateo Estates. They acknowledged that the park "has its flaws as well as enjoyable features," indicating a mixed experience. Their feedback specifically addressed the office staff, stating that "the office staff can be some kind of way and does not manage issues with communication and problem solving skills." This is a significant point for potential residents or longer-term RVers who might require regular interaction with the park management. However, the reviewer did highlight two staff members, "Marcey and Ethan," who "have been a pleasure and always polite," suggesting that positive interactions with certain individuals are possible.
Despite the issues with some of the office staff, the long-term resident mentioned that "for the most part things go well and it’s a great location." This implies that the park's location in San Mateo might offer certain advantages or conveniences that contribute to a positive overall experience for some. They also noted that "it’s extremely wet but so is most of this area," suggesting that the park might be prone to damp conditions, which could be a regional environmental factor rather than a specific issue unique to San Mateo Estates.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me," San Mateo Estates presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. The park offers essential amenities like a pool, laundry, and dumpsters, which are definite positives. The location is described as "great" by a long-term resident, suggesting potential convenience or access to local attractions. However, the narrow and winding road leading to the park, especially with blind curves, could be a significant deterrent for owners of large RVs. The varying conditions of the roads within the park, being worse in the mobile home section and only "a little better but not great" in the RV area, are also important considerations.
Furthermore, the feedback regarding the office staff's communication and problem-solving skills is a potential concern for those anticipating needing management support. The positive mention of Marcey and Ethan offers a counterpoint, but the overall sentiment suggests potential inconsistencies in administrative support.
To obtain a more comprehensive understanding of San Mateo Estates, local users are encouraged to contact the park directly and inquire about:
- Specific directions to the park, including any advice for navigating with large RVs. It might be helpful to ask about alternative routes if available.
- The layout of the RV section and the types of sites offered (e.g., pull-through, back-in), as well as the size and hookup availability at each site (e.g., water, electric, sewer; amperage of electrical hookups).
- The current condition of the roads within the RV section.
- The operating hours and any rules or regulations for the pool and laundry facilities.
- Pet policies, including any restrictions on breeds or sizes, and the availability of pet-friendly areas.
- Wi-Fi availability and any associated costs or limitations.
- The park's security measures.
- Any specific policies or procedures related to the potentially wet environment.
- Current rates and any potential discounts for local residents or longer stays.
By gathering this detailed information, local RV owners can weigh the pros and cons based on their individual needs and preferences. The availability of amenities and a potentially convenient location might be attractive, but the access road and internal road conditions, along with potential issues with office staff, should also be carefully considered. Direct communication with San Mateo Estates will be crucial in making an informed decision when searching for "RV parks near me" in the San Mateo, Florida area.
In conclusion, San Mateo Estates in San Mateo, FL, offers a combined RV and mobile home park setting with amenities like a pool and laundry. While a long-term resident finds it to be in a "great location" overall, potential visitors should be aware of the narrow and winding access road, the varying conditions of the internal roads, and reported inconsistencies with the office staff. Local users seeking "RV parks near me" are advised to contact San Mateo Estates directly for detailed information to determine if it meets their specific requirements.

Dec 20, 2023 · Peter YoungThis place is a swamp. There is standing water everywhere. You can’t be outside without rain boots. What would it take to level the lots to fix this? Never parked in a swamp before. Don’t bother with the manager, she says “it’s a campground” like this is normal. There is a pool that no one is allowed to use as well as a large screened room that you can’t use. Given its location this swamp isn’t cheap but the owners are
