Shady Cove RV Park Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi area and considering your options for a short stopover or potentially a longer stay? Shady Cove RV Park, located at 7836 US 49, Hattiesburg, MS 39402, USA, presents itself as a campground just outside the city. For those exploring the category of "RV parks near me," it's crucial to gather a comprehensive understanding of a park's environment, services, and features through available information, such as customer reviews. Shady Cove RV Park can be contacted via phone at (601) 268-1077 or mobile at +1 601-268-1077 for inquiries about availability and rates.
Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Shady Cove RV Park appear to be varied, with some positive aspects noted alongside significant concerns. One reviewer described their stay as "mixed," highlighting a positive experience with their specific site in the back of the park. This pull-thru spot was praised for offering full hookups and being situated among "lovely trees," leading the reviewer to recommend the back part of the park for short stays. This suggests that the environment within Shady Cove RV Park may differ depending on the location of the campsite.
However, the same reviewer noted that the front of the park "wasn't very nice and felt crowded," indicating a potential disparity in the quality or atmosphere between different sections of the campground. This is an important consideration for those browsing "RV parks near me," as the location of their assigned site could significantly impact their overall experience.
Regarding amenities, the presence of a "laundry facility" was mentioned, but with a serious caveat: the dryer "smoked with our clothes in it," raising significant safety concerns. This issue suggests potential maintenance problems with the park's facilities, which is a crucial factor for RV travelers relying on such amenities. The reviewer also noted a lack of interaction with park staff, mentioning a note at the front for self-check-in via a registration card that was not available, and no one present at the office. This lack of staff interaction could be a concern for guests needing assistance or information during their stay.
Despite these issues, the reviewer found the back part of the park to be "mostly quiet and pretty," reinforcing the earlier positive impression of this specific area. However, they also noted that the park was "a bit pricey" and "didn't offer much in terms of amenities," suggesting that the value proposition might not be ideal for all travelers searching within the "RV parks near me" category, especially those prioritizing extensive facilities.
In contrast to the somewhat positive experience in the back of the park, another reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction, describing the campground as having a "very 'run down' feel." This perception suggests potential neglect in the overall maintenance and upkeep of the property, which can greatly impact the comfort and safety of guests.
A particularly concerning issue raised by this reviewer was the condition of their campsite, which "appeared to not have been cleaned in a very long time." They reported discovering "rusty screws all over the pad" after already pulling in, indicating a lack of attention to site preparation and safety. This type of hazard is unacceptable for any campground within the "RV parks near me" category and raises questions about the park's commitment to guest safety and site maintenance.
Adding to their negative experience, this reviewer reported getting a flat tire shortly after leaving the campground, which they directly attributed to the condition of the site. While a direct causal link cannot be definitively established based solely on this review, it underscores the potential hazards present within the park. The presence of "trash (empty discarded water bottles and cans, etc.) strewn about" further supports the impression of a poorly maintained environment.
The lack of essential campsite amenities was also highlighted, with the reviewer stating that there was "NO picnic table on our site," and they "only saw a couple picnic tables throughout the campground." Picnic tables are a standard expectation at many "RV parks near me," providing a space for outdoor dining and relaxation. Their scarcity at Shady Cove RV Park could be a significant drawback for many travelers.
Perhaps the most severe criticism was directed at the restroom facilities, which were described as "filthy and horrible," and "the worst we've ever seen." The reviewer claimed they looked like they "hadn't been cleaned in a very long time," with graphic details provided, including "dried poop splatter everywhere, and NO toilet paper." The presence of "broken toilet paper holders (but empty)" further emphasizes the apparent neglect of these essential facilities. Clean and functional restrooms are a fundamental requirement for any reputable RV park, and these comments paint a deeply concerning picture of the hygiene standards at Shady Cove RV Park.
Based on the overwhelmingly negative aspects highlighted in the second review, this customer explicitly stated, "We would NOT recommend staying at this campground." This strong condemnation should be taken seriously by anyone considering Shady Cove RV Park as an option when searching within the "RV parks near me" category.
In conclusion, the available online reviews for Shady Cove RV Park present a stark contrast in experiences. While one reviewer found the back part of the park suitable for a short stay due to its pleasant environment and full hookups, significant concerns were raised by both reviewers regarding the overall maintenance, cleanliness (especially of the restrooms), safety hazards on campsites, and a lack of essential amenities. The discrepancy between the front and back of the park, the malfunctioning laundry facility, the lack of staff interaction, and the outright condemnation from one reviewer paint a concerning picture. Potential visitors searching for "RV parks near me" in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, should carefully weigh these reported issues and consider them alongside any potential benefits before making a decision about staying at Shady Cove RV Park. Thoroughly investigating recent reviews and potentially contacting the park directly to inquire about the current conditions and address the concerns raised in the feedback is highly recommended.

Shady Cove RV Park Reviews
We stayed at this park which is right outside Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and had a mixed experience. Our spot in the back was beautiful, a pull-thru spot with full hookups and lovely trees. I would recommend short stays in the back part of the park. However, the front of the park wasn't very nice and felt crowded. There is a laundry facility, but the dryer smoked with our clothes in it, which was concerning. We never spoke to anyone during our stay. There was a note at the front asking us to complete a registration card to check in, but no cards were available, and no one was at the office. To be safe, I wrote a note and dropped it in the drop box.The park was mostly quiet and pretty in the back, but it was a bit pricey and didn't offer much in terms of amenities. Overall, it's a nice place for a quick stay.
Feb 08, 2025 · anika bakerThis campground had a very "run down" feel to it. Our campsite appeared to not have been cleaned in a very long time, as we discovered (after we already pulled into it) there were rusty screws all over the pad. Almost like someone had torn apart some kind of structure and never cleaned up afterwards. We got a flat tire within a very short time after leaving the campground, which did NOT make us happy. Also, there was trash (empty discarded water bottles and cans, etc.) strewn about. There was NO picnic table on our site, in fact we only saw a couple picnic tables throughout the campground. The restrooms were filthy and horrible, in fact, the worst we've ever seen. Looks like they hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, as there was dried poop splatter everywhere, and NO toilet paper. There were broken toilet paper holders (but empty) which does no one any good. We would NOT recommend staying at this campground.
Apr 11, 2025 · Doug TrimmerHad a horrible experience when my son was staying here. There was a tornado that caused a tree to fall on his camper and destroyed it. Also his car was also severely damaged. He was alright and escaped with his life. The owner of this campground was not at all concerned and even kept the monthly rent that was paid just two days prior. Think twice before you stay here.
Jun 10, 2024 · Diane WaitesWe have stayed here for a week so far. We will be here for awhile due to my husband's job. They are really doing some great updates to the park. Including paved roads. A lot of the camp spots have fire pits. I feel very safe here. There’s even a cop that drives thru the park at nights to make sure all is well. It’s very quiet. The owner has strict rules for the park to stay well managed. Very strict about speed limit thru park because there’s kids that ride their bikes. Manager has been very helpful and friendly to our family. A lot of reviews on here say she’s not nice but I think she just runs a tight shift to have a well managed clean park. She’s been nothing but nice and helpful to us. Appreciate how they are strict about campers not having trash laying around etc. we are pretty pleased so far. A lot of camp grounds we have stayed at before with our 5th wheel we have had problems with gnats and so far here we don’t have that problem
May 07, 2020 · A_girl86We needed a one night stay while traveling and found this very pretty park. For some weird reason, the rating wasn’t super high. Weird because it should be. The manager Carrie was very nice and helpful and escorted us to our site. Their mission statement is posted in the office which reads that they are Christian owned and their first priority is to glorify and honor God.We were very impressed during our short stay and will be back again when we come through the area.
