Shady Lake RV Park Introduce
When local users search for "RV parks near me" in the Sulphur Springs, Texas area, Shady Lake RV Park, located at 2306 TX-19 S, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482, presents a mixed impression based on recent customer reviews. Potential visitors should carefully consider both the positive and negative feedback to make an informed decision.
One reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with Shady Lake RV Park, strongly advising others to look elsewhere. Their criticisms focused on several key areas. Firstly, they reported issues with the park manager's availability, stating that the office hours were limited and inconsistent, often falling within typical working hours for most people, making it difficult to contact the manager. They also described the internet service as "so unstable" that it was often unusable. Furthermore, this reviewer painted a concerning picture of the park's infrastructure, describing the roads as having "pit holes the size of a pick up bed" in the back area. They also alleged a persistent sewer odor from the sprinklers and noted the presence of multiple unoccupied and dilapidated campers on site, detracting from the park's appearance. Finally, they claimed that the pond, advertised for catch and release fishing, contained no fish and was filled with moss and trash, making fishing unpleasant. This reviewer also mentioned that multiple tenants had payment issues due to the manager's unavailability.
In stark contrast, another reviewer had an overwhelmingly positive experience at Shady Lake RV Park, describing it as "one of the most beautiful RV parks in which we have ever stayed!" They booked a one-night stay on relatively short notice and were "very pleasantly surprised" by what they found to be a "little haven." They noted the park's serene rural setting, located a short distance from I-30.
This positive reviewer praised the friendliness of the staff and the other campers and residents. They stayed at site #1, which they highlighted as being right on the pond and featuring a "good sized deck and picnic table under a huge oak tree" with a "beautiful view of the pond and surrounding landscape" and plenty of shade. They enjoyed the natural ambiance, including the sounds of frogs, ducks, and cicadas in the evening. Additionally, they found all the hook-ups to be "great and easy to navigate," and the gravel pad was level and well-placed for a convenient pull-through. This reviewer concluded by stating their intention to stay at Shady Lake RV Park again when traveling in that direction.
Considering these two very different accounts, local users searching for "RV parks near me" will need to weigh the potential benefits described by one reviewer against the significant drawbacks highlighted by the other. The positive aspects include a potentially beautiful and serene environment, friendly staff and neighbors, well-equipped and conveniently located sites (at least site #1), and easy hook-ups. The negative aspects include concerns about management availability and responsiveness, unstable internet, poor road conditions in some areas, potential sewer odors, a neglected pond, and a visually unappealing presence of abandoned campers.
Based on this information, the environment at Shady Lake RV Park appears to be somewhat inconsistent. While one reviewer found it beautiful and serene with a lovely pond-side setting, another described it as run-down with poor infrastructure and unpleasant odors. The presence of a pond could be a significant feature for some, but the reported condition of the pond is a major concern. The rural setting a short distance from I-30 offers a balance of accessibility and tranquility.
Services and features mentioned include water, electrical, and sewer hook-ups (described as great and easy to navigate by one reviewer), a washer and dryer (not mentioned by the positive reviewer), and potentially Wi-Fi (reported as unstable). The presence of a pond for catch and release fishing is advertised, but its actual condition seems questionable. The park is described as having friendly staff and nearby campers by one account.
No specific promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, is mentioned in either of the provided reviews. The contrasting experiences suggest that the quality of stay might vary depending on the specific site and the current management's attention to the issues raised in the negative review.
For local users considering Shady Lake RV Park based on its location in Sulphur Springs, TX, it is crucial to approach with caution and seek further information. Contacting the park directly at (903) 885-8885 or +1 903-885-8885 to inquire about the current state of the roads, internet service, pond conditions, manager availability, and any ongoing maintenance or improvements would be advisable. If possible, requesting information about specific site availability and locations within the park (e.g., sites near the pond vs. in the back area) might help in making a more informed decision. Given the significant discrepancies in the reviews, a personal visit to assess the current conditions might be the most reliable way to determine if Shady Lake RV Park meets individual needs and expectations.
In conclusion, Shady Lake RV Park in Sulphur Springs, TX, presents a complex picture for potential visitors. While some have found it to be a beautiful and pleasant haven with friendly staff and well-equipped sites, others have reported significant issues with management accessibility, infrastructure, amenities, and the overall environment. Local users searching for "RV parks near me" should carefully weigh these contrasting experiences and conduct thorough due diligence before choosing to stay at Shady Lake RV Park.

Shady Lake RV Park Reviews
If u are looking for a place to stay this is not that place. Worst place u can stay in sulpher springs the park manger has hrs from 3/6 when most people are working.her hrs change daily sometimes it’s different if u can ever catch her in the office. The internet was so in stable some days it was like playing phone tag to try and get a connection. If u have never drove through a rock curry this would be a prime example roads have pit holes the side of a pick up bed driving through the back area. And if I don’t mind smelling the sewer from the sprinklers I would look else we’re. There are multiple campers on site that people have left and do not live in currently and falling apart. Makes the park look that much worse. They tell u the fish in the pond are catch and release. There is no fish and if u don’t mind dragging Moss from the pound on every cast and dragging back what ever trash from the pound. I would highly recommend other parks. Multiple tenets on site that have the same problem with paying and never catch the manger in the office.
Jan 31, 2025 · Jeff CovingtonThis is one of the most beautiful RV parks in which we have ever stayed! We booked one night, on relatively short notice (5 days ahead), and really didn't expect much - just a one night stay on our way back to Austin from the Ozarks. However, we were very pleasantly surprised at what a little haven this RV park is! It is located a short distance from I-30 in a very serene rural setting. The staff was very friendly, as were all of the nearby campers and residents. We had site #1, which is right on the pond with a good sized deck and picnic table under a huge oak tree! We couldn't believe it! We had a beautiful view of the pond and surrounding landscape with plenty of shade. We loved listening to the frogs, ducks, and cicadas in the evening! All the hook-ups were great and easy to navigate and the gravel pad was level and well-placed for conveniently pulling through. We will for sure plan to stay here again next time we travel in that direction!
Jun 13, 2024 · Lenicia Gordon10/10 would not recommend. The pictures online do not match what the place actually looks like. The place looks like a junk yard there’s a bunch of old cars, grass is extremely overgrown. The spot we were given we could not properly fit our rv in because there was a car parked too close to the spot. We got into sulphur around 2:30 in the morning and had to spend the night at a gas station until another Rv park opened. We made the mistake of paying for our spot before we got there, the lady at the front desk said more than likely we won’t get a refund, $375 on a spot we did not feel comfortable or safe staying in.
Sep 23, 2024 · elizabeth lobsteinReally enjoyed this park. With Good Sam discount, total was $72 for two nights. We were placed in space #1, right next to the little lake and a small deck. Air-conditioned laundry room with lots of machines, and listened to the frogs all day and night. Only drawback is the highway noise, but it's a small price to pay overall. Two nice big trees shaded us nearly all day. Loved our stay!
Aug 15, 2023 · Laura KaiserI've stayed for a few months. Its a quiet place with nice scenery and shade. A nice pond. High speed Internet works, cable works, laundromat is available and most importantly, it's pet friendly. So your co-pilot is welcome as well. There's 2 dog runs available to let them play off the leash. It's a nice place to relax. Not a place to party.
