Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins Introduce
For local residents in Kentucky and travelers passing through the region searching for top-notch "RV parks near me," Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins, located at 4775 US-60, Morehead, KY 40351, USA, emerges as a highly praised and well-regarded destination. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this newer RV park offers a blend of spacious accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and a convenient location near natural attractions and local conveniences. Whether you are a full-time traveler with a large rig or seeking a comfortable base to explore the beauty of eastern Kentucky, Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins appears to be an excellent choice.
Environment and Location: Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins boasts a beautiful wooded setting, providing a tranquil and scenic backdrop for your stay. Despite its peaceful ambiance, the park enjoys a convenient location right off of US-60, making it easily accessible for travelers. While being near a highway might suggest potential noise, reviewers indicate that any road noise is not significant enough to detract from the overall experience. The park's location offers the best of both worlds: a quiet, natural environment with the convenience of nearby amenities. Notably, a Dollar General is within walking distance, providing easy access to basic necessities. Furthermore, Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins is situated close to Cedar Run Lake and the renowned Daniel Boone National Forest, making it an ideal basecamp for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore hiking trails, engage in water activities, or immerse themselves in the natural beauty of eastern Kentucky. The presence of a waterfront view from some sites, specifically mentioning a pond with ducks, adds to the park's charm and appeal.
Services and Amenities: Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins offers full hookups at each of its long and wide sites, catering to RVs of all sizes, including large fifth wheels and buses. The hookups are reported to have good water pressure and correctly done sewer connections at the right height, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free experience for RVers. The roads and sites are gravel, but the use of well-packed small gravel is appreciated by guests as it minimizes dust and avoids the discomfort of loose, ankle-twisting stones. Select "upgraded" sites, such as site 15 mentioned in a review, feature additional amenities like solar lights and a waterfront (pond) view. All sites appear to include a picnic table, wooden Adirondack chairs facing a fire pit (with firewood provided), and a BBQ grill, enhancing the outdoor living experience. The owner is commended for taking pride in the upkeep of the park, evident in the well-maintained grounds and the absence of low-hanging trees or branches that could pose a problem for larger rigs. Easy road signage ensures a smooth and stress-free entrance to the park.
Features and Atmosphere: One of the standout features of Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins is its ability to accommodate big rigs with ease. The spacious sites and thoughtfully designed roads allow for comfortable maneuvering, a significant advantage for those traveling in larger RVs who often face challenges in smaller, rural parks. The park strikes a balance between offering a quiet, small-town RV park feel and maintaining an upscale ambiance without the formality of a large corporate resort. The inclusion of individual site amenities like fire pits with firewood, picnic tables, and Adirondack chairs encourages outdoor relaxation and enjoyment. The waterfront views from certain sites add a touch of serenity to the camping experience. While the reviews mention the absence of traditional amenities like a clubhouse, this contributes to the peaceful and laid-back atmosphere that many guests appreciate. The owner's attentiveness and pride in the park's upkeep further enhance the overall positive experience.
Cabin Rentals: In addition to RV sites, Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins also offers cabins for rent, providing an alternative accommodation option for those who prefer a more solid structure while still enjoying the natural surroundings. The reviews do not provide specific details about the cabins, but their availability expands the appeal of the park to a wider range of travelers, including those who might not own an RV but are still looking for a comfortable "camping near me" experience in the Morehead area.
Accessibility and Convenience: The park's location right off of US-60 ensures easy access for travelers. The proximity to a Dollar General within walking distance offers added convenience for quick shopping trips. Furthermore, its strategic location near Cedar Run Lake and Daniel Boone National Forest makes it an excellent base for exploring the natural attractions of the region. Whether you are interested in hiking, fishing, boating, or simply enjoying the scenic beauty of eastern Kentucky, Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins provides a comfortable and well-situated home base.
Management and Service: The owner, Tripp, receives high praise in the customer reviews. One guest specifically mentioned Tripp's excellent accommodation of a last-minute booking via text, highlighting his responsiveness and helpfulness. The owner's pride in the park's upkeep is also evident in the well-maintained grounds and facilities. This personal touch and dedication to guest satisfaction contribute significantly to the positive experiences reported by visitors.
Promotional Information (Inferred): While there are no explicit promotions mentioned in the reviews, the overwhelmingly positive feedback and the detailed descriptions of the park's amenities and location serve as strong implicit endorsements. The fact that full-time travelers in a very large fifth wheel were "so glad" they booked based on positive reviews and photos speaks volumes about the accuracy and appeal of the park's online presence. The repeated recommendations to visit and the intention of returning suggest a high level of customer satisfaction, which is often the most effective form of promotion for any business in the hospitality industry. For local users searching for "RV parks near me," the consistently positive reviews highlighting spacious sites, full hookups, beautiful surroundings, and attentive management should serve as a compelling reason to consider Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins for their next getaway.

Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins Reviews
This is a great new RV park. We travel full time and have a very large fifth wheel (43 feet with dually truck) and we are always cautious of little parks in rural areas because you just never know what to expect. We booked based upon the positive reviews and photos and we are so glad we did! The spots are big enough for any sized rig (big rig and bus friendly). While it’s a small park, the roads are set up to accommodate larger rigs needing space to maneuver around. Sites are long and wide and have full hookups. Roads and sites are gravel, but it’s well packed small gravel (not very dusty and not ankle twister gravel which we appreciate). We had site 15 which was an upgraded space with solar lights and a waterfront (pond and ducks) view. Site also had picnic table, wooden Adirondack chairs facing a fire pit (with firewood included) and a bbq. Good water pressure, sewer hookups done correctly and at the right height. Quiet and the owner takes pride in the upkeep of the park. No long hanging trees or branches to worry about and easy road signage for entrance. It’s right off of a highway with some road noise but nothing that should deter you away, it’s a beautiful wooded setting with a Dollar General within walking distance and close to Cedar Run Lake and Daniel Boone National Forest. They also have cabins you can rent. No amenities or clubhouse so you get the quiet small town RV park feel, but it’s also well done, well maintained and has an upscale feel without being a fancy corporate resort. Highly recommend this park.
Oct 31, 2024 · Glyn Jones (Glyn & Jena Jones)Wonderful spot! Beautiful grounds, quiet but close to highway, nice amount of space on the sites and beautiful water views! Tripp (owner) was awesome with accommodating us last minute all by text. Would definitely visit again!
Oct 24, 2024 · Alex MatthewsAbsolutely beautiful new park! Super friendly owner and very accommodating with our special request. Very quiet and you feel secluded in your RV site, they are spaced wonderfully so that you are not right on top of your neighbor. We hope to return sometime in the future.
May 24, 2024 · Leslie IngramWe stayed in our camper at Sheltowee RV park for 7 months while my husband was working in the area. It’s a beautiful and peaceful campground. Each lot has a picnic table and fire ring. They do provide firewood which is nice. The wifi is decent. There are also communal fire pit areas. We also rented a cabin for a weekend for our kids that came in to visit. The cabins are tiny but have a washer and dryer which is nice. There aren’t a lot of amenities for the campground. There’s no dumpster (they pick up your trash daily at 10am). There’s no laundry or club house on site. The entire property is grass or gravel so not conducive to bike riding; the gravel is only about a quarter mile loop. But I did enjoy morning walks through the park. It is dog friendly. There are two ponds that we saw people fishing in…not sure if they caught anything. The rates were high comparable to other campgrounds with much more to offer for amenities and area attractions. But it is a beautiful spot outside of town for a quiet place to stay.
Apr 18, 2023 · LeeAnna McDanielThis is a great little campground. Not many amenities, but it's quiet, and there are fishing ponds on the grounds. The sites are a good size with chairs, firepits, and easy access.
