The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village Introduce
Are you searching for the perfect RV park near you in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks? Look no further than The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village, located at 12882 State Hwy B, Ava, MO 65608, USA. This developing RV park and tiny home village offers a unique blend of natural beauty and essential amenities, positioning itself as a convenient base for exploring the diverse attractions of the Ozark region. You can reach them at (417) 543-8342 or +1 417-543-8342 to inquire about availability and make reservations.
As a newcomer to the RV park scene, The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village is currently in a phase of growth and improvement. While some aspects are still a "work in progress," the owners are reportedly friendly and dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for their guests. For local RV owners and travelers seeking "RV parks near me," it's essential to consider the current state of the park alongside its future potential.
One of the standout features highlighted in customer reviews is the brand-new building that houses "top of the line" restroom and laundry facilities. Clean and modern amenities are a significant draw for RV travelers, offering comfort and convenience during their stay. The availability of full hookups at the RV sites is another considerable advantage, providing essential connections for water, electricity, and sewer, ensuring a comfortable and self-sufficient experience for RVers.
The park's location is frequently mentioned as a major benefit. Situated "right in the middle of everything you want to do while in the Ozarks," The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village offers easy access to the region's natural wonders, recreational activities, and local attractions. Whether you're interested in hiking, fishing, exploring caves, or visiting charming Ozark towns, this RV park serves as a potentially ideal starting point for your adventures.
The owners are described as "the nicest people," contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere. For those who value friendly and helpful service, this personal touch can significantly enhance their overall experience. Additionally, the park offers "lots of room to walk the dog," making it a pet-friendly option for travelers who bring their furry companions along. Good rates are also mentioned, suggesting that The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village aims to provide affordable accommodation for RVers.
However, it's crucial for prospective visitors to be aware of some concerns raised in customer reviews. One significant point pertains to accessibility for certain types of vehicles. It is explicitly mentioned that the grounds consist of "nasty gravel," and the only way in and out of the park involves a "steep gravelly hill." This could pose a considerable challenge, and even a deterrent, for owners of street motorcycles or potentially for larger, heavier RVs depending on their maneuverability and the condition of the gravel surfaces. If you are traveling with a street motorcycle, it would be prudent to contact the park directly to discuss the access conditions in detail before making a booking.
Another notable policy mentioned in the reviews is a "10-year old limit on campers." While the park may make exceptions by waiving this rule if a picture of the RV is submitted and deemed "worthy," this policy could be off-putting for owners of well-maintained older RVs. The reviewer who experienced this policy noted that while their 20-year-old rig was accepted, the park itself was described as "basically just a gravel pit." This highlights a potential discrepancy between the park's aesthetic standards for incoming RVs and the current state of the grounds. The reviewer suggests that if appearance is a factor in accepting RVs, then the park itself should invest in landscaping to enhance its visual appeal.
It's important to consider these contrasting perspectives when evaluating The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village. While the park offers new and clean facilities, a convenient location for exploring the Ozarks, friendly owners, and pet-friendly amenities, potential guests should also factor in the gravel terrain, the steep access hill, and the policy regarding the age of campers. Contacting the park directly with specific questions about your vehicle and any concerns regarding the grounds is highly recommended.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me," The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village presents an option with promising aspects, particularly its modern facilities and central location within the Ozarks. However, it's essential to weigh these advantages against the reported challenges related to the gravel grounds and the camper age policy. Exploring other nearby RV parks in Mansfield and Mountain Grove, as suggested by one reviewer, might also be beneficial to compare options and find the best fit for your needs and preferences.
As The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village continues to develop, it has the potential to become a highly desirable destination for RVers visiting the Ozarks. The foundation of new amenities and a favorable location is strong. Addressing the concerns raised by early visitors regarding the grounds and access will be crucial in enhancing the overall guest experience and attracting a wider range of RV travelers. Local users seeking "RV parks near me" should stay informed about the ongoing improvements at The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village as it evolves into a more established and refined RVing destination in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks.

The Hitching Post RV Park & Tiny Home Village Reviews
The owners seem nice and it’s a work in progress. But 2 things really bothered me:1. Don’t bother coming here if you have street motorcycles. The grounds are all nasty gravel and the only way in and out of the park is a steep gravelly hill.2. They have a 10-year old limit on campers. They will waive it if you send a pic of your rig and they deem it worthy… I guess if it’s not too trashy? This is a massive turn-off. Our 20-year old rig got “accepted” but when we got there the place was basically just a gravel pit. In my opinion, if you are going to judge my rig on appearance, your park needs to be landscaped. The pics speak for themselves. I wish the owners well but they need to know that much nicer parks are nearby in Mansfield and Mountain Grove that do NOT turn away people with older campers.
Apr 24, 2025 · Katie BosmanRV Park. Just starting up but looks like a nice one in the making. New building with really top of the line restroom and laundry facilities. Full hookups at great prices. Its location is right in the middle of everything you want to do while in the Ozarks. And the nicest people run it! Lots of room to walk the dog too. Good rates and great place! We are from Indiana and will stay there again when we go back!
Sep 22, 2024 · Linda WilsonWe absolutely loved our stay at the Hitching Post. We stayed there while we were moving to the area. They were so helpful and friendly. The laundry and restrooms were clean and beautiful (so nice in fact that we redesigned our home build to include features from the showers). It is super close to Ava which has many amenities. I highly recommend the Hitching Post.
