The McHenry's Bay-ler Park Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the Bay City, Texas area, particularly one that offers waterfront access and unique site features, The McHenry's Bay-ler Park, located at 228 County Rd 202, Bay City, TX 77414, USA, presents an interesting option. You can reach them at (512) 745-9406 or +1 512-745-9406 for booking and inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, this park offers some appealing features, particularly for those interested in fishing and secure RV sites, but also has some areas where improvements or awareness is needed.
One of the standout features mentioned by a visitor who stayed over the Christmas break is the availability of "covered space and a good fence" at the RV sites. This is a significant advantage for several reasons. Covered spaces provide valuable protection from the elements, whether it's the hot Texas sun or unexpected rain, making outdoor living more comfortable. A good fence offers an added layer of privacy and security, which can be particularly appealing for families with children or pet owners. The reviewer also mentioned enjoying some fishing during a warmer day of their week-long stay, indicating potential access to fishable waters, likely related to the "Bay" in the park's name and its location near the Texas Gulf Coast.
However, the same reviewer also pointed out several areas where the park fell short during their visit. One issue was the lack of lighting upon arrival, making it "a lil hard finding the place." This suggests that arriving after dark might pose a challenge for first-time visitors and highlights a potential need for better signage or lighting within the park. Another noted inconvenience was the absence of a traditional "bbq pit," with only a fire pit available for sitting around. This means that guests intending to barbecue would need to bring their own burner or grill. This is an important piece of information for those who enjoy outdoor cooking.
Connectivity is often a crucial factor for travelers, and this reviewer reported that the "Wifi was down." While they noted that "topwater realty did offer to fix it," the fact that it was not working during their stay is a drawback. Reliable internet access is often expected at RV parks for communication, entertainment, or even remote work. The issue with the "20amp breaker on service panel was broken" is also a significant concern, as it directly impacts the functionality of the RV's electrical system. This type of maintenance issue needs prompt attention to ensure the safety and convenience of guests.
Waterfront access seems to be a key feature of The McHenry's Bay-ler Park, as indicated by the mention of a dock. However, the review noted some disrepair, stating that "1 board on dock is raised up cause the screws rusted out And the main board on ledge is broken in 2 going longways." These are safety hazards that need to be addressed to ensure guests can safely enjoy the waterfront. The reviewer did mention that the "neighbors are friendly and was a great getaway" overall, suggesting a positive community atmosphere despite the maintenance issues.
Another critical piece of information for RVers is the electrical service available. The review explicitly states, "There is no 30 amp so make sure you have a 50amp to 30 amp adapter." This is essential for anyone with a 30-amp RV, as they will not be able to connect to the power supply without the appropriate adapter. This limitation should be clearly communicated to potential guests during the booking process.
On a positive note, the booking process seems to have been smooth, with the reviewer mentioning that "Amanda helped me book and was able to answer all my questions." This indicates that the booking staff is helpful and responsive, which is a good sign for initial interactions with the park.
Regarding the waterfront experience, the reviewer noted that "no fish where bitting" during their cold-weather stay, but a neighbor mentioned catching an "albino gar" the day prior. This suggests that fishing is indeed an activity available at the park's waterfront, although success may vary depending on the season and conditions. The fact that the neighbor was friendly adds to the positive community aspect mentioned earlier.
In conclusion, The McHenry's Bay-ler Park in Bay City, TX, offers some attractive features for those searching for "RV parks near me," particularly the covered and fenced sites and potential waterfront access for fishing. The friendly neighbors also contribute to a positive atmosphere. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported issues such as the lack of lighting upon arrival, no provided BBQ pit, potential Wi-Fi issues, a broken 20-amp breaker, disrepair on the dock, and the absence of 30-amp electrical service (requiring an adapter for 30-amp RVs). Despite these drawbacks, the reviewer stated they "would definitely come again," suggesting that the positives outweighed the negatives for their particular stay. For local users considering The McHenry's Bay-ler Park, it is recommended to inquire about the current status of the mentioned issues and ensure that the park's amenities and services meet their specific needs for a comfortable and enjoyable RV getaway in the Bay City area.

The McHenry's Bay-ler Park Reviews
Great find! We spent a week here over Christmas break. It was a cold one! First day was warm enough to fish a bit. We really enjoy having a covered space and a good fence.
