A Painted Pony camping cabin, located at 1932 Fox Ridge Way, Sevierville, TN 37862, USA, might be the perfect getaway for you. While it's important to note a few potential drawbacks mentioned by previous guests, the overwhelmingly positive feedback highlights the cabin's breathtaking views, pet-friendly policy, and overall charm, making it a compelling option for a laid-back local vacation in the Smoky Mountains.
The address places A Painted Pony in the scenic hills surrounding Sevierville, a popular gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and a hub for various entertainment and dining options. This location offers a blend of tranquility and accessibility, allowing guests to enjoy the peace of nature while still being close to local attractions.
Immerse Yourself in Breathtaking Mountain Views
The most consistently praised feature of A Painted Pony is undoubtedly its "view." One enthusiastic reviewer exclaimed, "If this view doesn't put the whole world into perspective and leave you breathless then you are probably not human!" This suggests that the cabin offers truly spectacular panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains, a hallmark of the Smoky Mountains region. Imagine waking up to stunning sunrises or relaxing in the evening while overlooking the majestic landscape. For local residents seeking a visually inspiring escape, the view from A Painted Pony appears to be a major highlight.
The cabin is also described as being in a "quite and easily accessible" location. This balance of peaceful surroundings and convenient access to roads makes it an appealing choice for those who want to feel secluded without being too far removed from amenities and attractions. The private setting allows for a more intimate connection with nature and a true sense of escape.
Comfortable Amenities and Pet-Friendly Features
A Painted Pony offers a range of amenities designed for a comfortable stay, catering to couples, families, and even those traveling with their furry companions:
- Pet-Friendly: For local dog owners, the cabin's pet-friendly policy is a significant advantage. One reviewer mentioned, "We brought our two dogs with us and having the door in the bedroom was very convenient for late night potty breaks." The availability of a door in the bedroom leading outside made it easy to manage pets. Guests also utilized tie-outs for their dogs to enjoy the "mornings mountain side," indicating that there is outdoor space suitable for pets.
- Hot Tub: The presence of a "hot tub" provides an excellent opportunity for relaxation and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, especially after a day of hiking or exploring. The reviewer noted that it is "mostly private," adding to the appeal.
- Comfortable Beds: While one reviewer found the mattress "very hard and quite uncomfortable," the availability of comfortable beds is generally expected in a rental cabin. It's worth noting this potential issue for those with specific mattress preferences.
- Functional Kitchen: Although not explicitly detailed, the expectation is that a rental cabin would include a kitchen allowing guests to prepare their own meals.
The cabin also features a "cute little book to look through with journal entries from all the other people who stayed here." This personal touch can add to the charm of the experience, providing insights into previous guests' stays and recommendations for the area.
Potential Drawbacks to Consider
It's important for local users to be aware of the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews:
- Stairs: One reviewer gave a clear warning: "Don’t come if you’re not good on stairs." This suggests that the cabin has multiple levels and requires navigating stairs, which could be a concern for individuals with mobility issues.
- Weak and Slow Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi is described as "extremely week and slow." For guests who rely on a strong internet connection for work or entertainment, this could be a significant inconvenience.
- Outdated Shower Heads and Small Showers: One reviewer wished for "updated" shower heads, particularly handheld ones, and noted that the "showers are small." While the water pressure was reported as "great," the size and type of shower head might be a consideration for some guests.
- Uncomfortable Mattress (Potentially): As mentioned earlier, one reviewer found the mattress to be "very hard and quite uncomfortable."
- Pool Table Placement: The pool table, while a selling point for one guest, was deemed poorly placed, making shots difficult on one side. This might be a disappointment for those specifically looking forward to playing pool.
- Limited Views (Partially Blocked): While the overall view is stunning, trees partially obstruct the "stunning long distance view of the surrounding mountains." This is something to be aware of if an unobstructed panoramic view is a top priority.
Despite these drawbacks, the reviewer who mentioned them still concluded that "All in all this is the perfect place to stay if your looking for an imperfect laid back vacation." This suggests that the positive aspects, particularly the view and overall charm, outweigh these imperfections for many guests.

A Painted Pony Reviews
OK. Don’t come if you’re not good on stairs. Extremely week and slow Wi-Fi
Apr 28, 2025 · Jim CruiseThis has by far been the best place we have ever stayed. I'll start with the things I would change, I wish the shower heads had been updated. The showers are small so it would have been nice to have one of the shower heads that could be hand held. But the water pressure was great. I also wish they had a more comfortable mattress. It's very hard and quite uncomfortable but the beauty and warmth of the cabin makes up for it. I also would remove the pool table. It was actually one of the selling points for us and one of the reasons we booked this cabin but the room/placement of the table makes it hard to make shots on one side of the table. However we still had fun and I beat my husband twice. Now I'll start on all the reasons I love it here. The view. If this view doesn't put the whole world into perspective and leave you breathless then you are probably not human and should get checked out. The location is quite and easily accessible. The hit tub is mostly private. We brought our two dogs with us and having the door in the bedroom was very convenient for late night potty breaks. We brought tie outs and used those for our pups and they loved spending the mornings mountain side. We are close enough to the attraction centers had a million things to do and places to eat. We went to the great smokey mountain National Park and saw the best views of our lives. Laurel falls trail was closed at our time of visit but we look forward to staying again and hiking the trail. They even had a cute little book to look through with journal entries from all the other people who stayed here. I wish we had honeymooned here instead of Florida. All in all this is the perfect place to stay if your looking for an imperfect laid back vacation. The warmth and comfort was incomparable and this will be our home away from home until we can make ourselves permanent residents of East Tennessee. We loved it here and know you will too.
