We had a great time at A.W. Marion State Park campground. The bathrooms were stocked with toilet paper the grounds were clean and the lots were generous in size. Overall for the price this is very affordable, especially considering that the campsites came with electric at no additional charge. We also visited the marina and rented some canoes and paddle boats to view the lake. Lots of trails and good fishing here, they also have public hunting grounds. Conveniently located only 5 to 10 minutes from town so while your surrounded by woods and serenity it's easy to run into Walmart for groceries. - Ashley Shaffer

A.W. Marion State Park Campground Introduce

For local users in Ohio searching for "camping near me," A.W. Marion State Park Campground, located at 7705 Warner-Huffer Rd, Circleville, OH 43113, offers an affordable camping experience within a state park setting. You can contact them at (740) 869-3124 or their mobile number +1 740-869-3124 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground has both positive aspects, such as its affordability and recreational opportunities, and some limitations regarding facilities and noise.

One reviewer had a "great time" at A.W. Marion State Park Campground, highlighting several positive features. They noted that the bathrooms were consistently stocked with toilet paper, the grounds were clean, and the campsites were generously sized. A significant advantage mentioned was the affordability, especially considering that electric hookups were included at no extra charge. The reviewer also enjoyed the park's recreational offerings, including visiting the marina to rent canoes and paddle boats on the lake. They also pointed out the presence of "lots of trails and good fishing," as well as public hunting grounds, indicating a variety of outdoor activities available. The convenience of the location, being only 5 to 10 minutes from town and easily accessible to amenities like Walmart for groceries, was also appreciated. This review portrays an affordable campground with ample recreational opportunities in a natural setting that is still conveniently close to town.

However, another reviewer offered a more critical perspective, describing the campground as an "adequate place for a short stay" but noting several drawbacks. They pointed out that the RV pads were "pretty short," potentially making parking challenging for larger rigs. While the management seemed tolerant of parking on the grass, this might not be ideal for all campers. A significant limitation highlighted was the lack of showers, with only "two vault toilets and two flush toilets plus one portapotty" available. The condition of one of the vault toilets was also a concern, as it was reportedly covered in what appeared to be mud and was closed the following evening. Regarding playground facilities, the reviewer noted that the one near the vault toilets was "pretty dated," although children still seemed to enjoy it, while a newer and "really nice" playground was located at the front of the campground. An unusual feature mentioned was an amphitheater showing a movie on Saturday night, which the reviewer only discovered by chance due to a lack of advertising. A potential drawback for some campers was the close proximity of the campsites. Finally, the reviewer noted issues with noise and light at night, including prolonged car alarms, excessive dog barking that sounded like a "kennel," and random bright lights staying on for extended periods. Despite these issues, the reviewer did commend the staff at the camp store as being "nice." The overall conclusion of this review was that the campground is acceptable for a short stay or for those with self-contained campers (with showers), but the facilities are otherwise not the best.

Considering these two reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" at A.W. Marion State Park Campground should be aware of both its advantages and limitations. The affordability, inclusion of electric hookups, access to lake activities (canoeing, paddle boating), fishing, hiking trails, and public hunting are significant draws. The convenience to nearby town amenities is also a plus. However, the limited shower facilities, potentially short RV pads, close campsites, and potential for nighttime noise and light pollution are factors to consider. The cleanliness of the grounds and the stocked bathrooms (toilet paper) were appreciated by one reviewer, but the condition of one vault toilet was a concern for another.

A.W. Marion State Park itself likely offers a natural environment with the lake being a central feature. The presence of woods surrounding the campground is indicated by one reviewer's comment about being "surrounded by woods and serenity." The trails mentioned suggest opportunities for hiking and exploring the park's natural beauty. The availability of public hunting grounds caters to a specific user group interested in hunting within the park's regulations.

The services at the campground include the provision of campsites with electric hookups. The presence of restrooms (both flush and vault toilets, plus a portapotty) offers basic sanitation, although the lack of showers is a notable limitation. The marina provides rental services for canoes and paddle boats, facilitating lake activities. The camp store offers a place to purchase essentials, and the staff there were noted as being nice. The amphitheater, while its programming might not be well-advertised, offers a form of evening entertainment. The management's efforts in maintaining clean grounds and stocked bathrooms were appreciated by one reviewer.

Key features of A.W. Marion State Park Campground include its affordability, the inclusion of electric at campsites, direct access to the lake for boating and fishing, a network of hiking trails, public hunting grounds, and its convenient location near the town of Circleville. The presence of playgrounds (one newer, one older) caters to families with children. The amphitheater offers potential for outdoor entertainment. However, the limited shower facilities, potentially short RV pads, close campsite spacing, and the risk of nighttime noise and light pollution are important features to be aware of.

Currently, there is no explicit promotional information in the reviews. The affordability mentioned by one reviewer could be considered a key selling point. Local users searching for "camping near me" on a budget might find the inclusion of electric hookups without an additional charge particularly attractive. The variety of recreational activities offered by the state park itself (lake access, fishing, hiking, hunting) adds value to the camping experience.

For local users in the Circleville, Ohio area and beyond, A.W. Marion State Park Campground offers an affordable option with a range of outdoor recreational activities centered around the lake and the park's natural environment. The inclusion of electric hookups at no extra cost is a significant benefit. Families with children will appreciate the playgrounds and lake activities. However, potential campers should be prepared for limited shower facilities, potentially close campsite spacing, and the possibility of nighttime noise and light disturbances. RV owners should also note the reported short RV pads.

To make an informed decision, local users are encouraged to contact A.W. Marion State Park Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiries should focus on the availability and size of RV sites, the current condition and accessibility of the restroom facilities, details about the playgrounds and the amphitheater schedule (if any), and any specific rules regarding noise and lighting. It would also be beneficial to ask about any recent improvements or planned upgrades to the campground facilities. By gathering this information, potential campers can weigh the affordability and recreational opportunities against the limitations to determine if A.W. Marion State Park Campground meets their needs for a "camping near me" experience.
