Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run Introduce
For local users exploring the "camping near me" category, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run, located at 200 Deer Run Dr, Schaghticoke, NY 12154, USA, presents itself as a family-oriented RV and camping destination with cabin rentals. However, a review of recent customer feedback reveals a significant disparity in experiences, which local users should carefully consider before making their camping arrangements.
One reviewer offered a somewhat neutral perspective, acknowledging that for a "corporate owned place," the campground was "okay." They described it as a family-oriented RV/Camper type campground that also offers cabin rentals, two swimming pools, and some sort of waterslide area. This suggests that Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run does offer a range of amenities that could appeal to families, particularly those with children who enjoy swimming and water play. However, this reviewer also expressed the opinion that the campground is "a bit over priced," attributing this to its corporate ownership. This is a crucial point for local users who are budget-conscious when seeking "camping near me" options.
In stark contrast, another reviewer had an overwhelmingly negative experience, stating, "This place is a mess. I would say there are more 'permanent' residents than 'campers.' The place is a dump, with trash & junk all over. Would not stay here again." This paints a concerning picture of the campground's environment and upkeep, directly contradicting the first reviewer's assessment of it being "okay." The mention of a high number of "permanent residents" versus transient campers could impact the overall atmosphere and the availability of campsites for short-term stays for local users.
This second reviewer also noted the campground's distance from Hudson Valley sites, stating they had to drive 1-2 hours to see anything, which they acknowledged was their own fault for not researching the location properly. However, this is still relevant information for local users planning to visit specific attractions in the Hudson Valley area; Schaghticoke might not be the most conveniently located base. The reviewer further described the campground as "ill maintained" and the laundry room as "filthy," reinforcing the concerns about cleanliness and upkeep.
Safety was also a significant concern for this reviewer. They mentioned receiving a key card for after-hours entry but finding the gates "wide open," leading to a feeling of not being "particularly safe." This is a serious issue for any camper, especially local families, and should be carefully considered. The reviewer also found the people to be "not friendly," which could detract from the overall camping experience and sense of community that many campers value.
The strong concluding statement, "DO NOT STAY HERE," underscores the severity of this reviewer's negative experience and serves as a strong warning to potential visitors.
Considering the "camping near me" category, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run in Schaghticoke, NY, presents a highly polarized image based on these two reviews. While it appears to offer family-oriented amenities like swimming pools and a waterslide, there are serious concerns raised about the campground's cleanliness, maintenance, safety, the prevalence of permanent residents, and potentially high pricing. Local users will need to weigh these conflicting perspectives carefully.
The environment of Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run is described differently by the two reviewers. One found it "okay" for a corporate-owned place, implying a basic level of acceptability. The other described it as a "dump" with "trash & junk all over" and "ill maintained." The presence of two swimming pools and a waterslide suggests some recreational water features. The mention of "RV/Camper type campground with cabin rentals" indicates a mix of accommodation options. The high number of permanent residents, if accurate, could influence the overall atmosphere and the availability of transient campsites. Local users should seek more recent and a broader range of reviews to get a clearer picture of the current environment.
The services mentioned include RV and tent campsites (implied), cabin rentals, two swimming pools, and a waterslide area. The existence of a laundry room is also noted, though its cleanliness was heavily criticized by one reviewer. The provision of a key card for after-hours entry suggests a gated facility, although the functionality of the gates was questioned. Information about other common campground services such as restrooms, showers, Wi-Fi, fire pits, or picnic tables is not provided in these reviews. Local users will need to contact the campground directly to inquire about the full range of services available.
The features highlighted are the two swimming pools and a waterslide, which are attractive for families. The availability of cabin rentals offers an alternative to traditional camping. However, the potential drawbacks mentioned by one reviewer, such as trash and junk, poor maintenance, and safety concerns with open gates, could negate these features for many local users. The high number of permanent residents might also be considered a feature (or a drawback, depending on one's preference), potentially fostering a different kind of community than a purely transient campground.
Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. Local users interested in rates, seasonal specials, or any other promotions should contact Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run directly at (518) 664-2804 or +1 518-664-2804.
In conclusion, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run in Schaghticoke, NY, presents a complex and potentially concerning option for local users in the "camping near me" category. While it offers family-oriented amenities, serious allegations of poor maintenance, uncleanliness, safety issues, and high pricing from one reviewer should give potential visitors pause. The discrepancy between the two reviews underscores the importance of seeking additional and more recent feedback before making a decision. Local users are strongly encouraged to contact the campground directly with specific questions about the current conditions, services, and safety measures, and to look for more recent reviews from multiple sources to form a well-informed opinion before booking a stay.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run Reviews
For a corporate owned place I reckon it's okay, it's a family oriented RV/Camper type campground with cabin rentals, 2 swimming pools and some sorta water slide type area. A bit over priced in my opinion, but like I said in the beginning it's a corporate owned campground.
Apr 25, 2025 · Michael BerryHow do you know when you book a year in advance? This place is a mess. I would say there are more “permanent” residents than “campers.” The place is a dump, with trash & junk all over. Would not stay here again. Too far from any of the Hudson valley sites (we had to drive 1-2 hr) to see anything (our fault) The place is ill maintained. Laundry room is filthy.. place needs some major cleaning. We got a key card to come in after hours but the gates are wide open. Didn’t feel particularly safe. People not friendly. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Oct 06, 2024 · Janet SkipitisI’m so sad with how this trip turned out! We were supposed to be there Tuesday-Friday. We ended up leaving a day early. Upon getting there Tuesday we were meet with non-friendly staff, then once we arrived at our site which is on top of cabins and later a couple more campers, our water spigot was on the wrong side- walk back to store to confirm that it’s the one we are supposed to use. “Unsure will send someone to check”. The sites are not set up like the map. The MANY seasonals make it feel more like a trailer park, especially with people constantly working on cars, power washing, and fuel trucks coming in daily or more. The game room is pretty sad as well. The water slides were a hit but wasn’t worth the money. My husband said the best part of the stay was the food truck. The pools were okay. One was closed down because someone pooped in it. All in all I would not recommend this “campground” and we will not be returning.
Aug 29, 2024 · Stevie VargesonWe have camped at the Deer Run Adventure Bound for the last four summers. We rent a cabin for a weekend. Our grandchildren always love the water park. It’s been perfectly age appropriate, they are now 6 & 7. The first two years were 5 stars but for the last two years things have begun to appear less than maintained. This year there was a lack of adequate silverware in the cabin, the cabin was not a clean and usual, and the freezer was malfunctioning and was obnoxiously loud all day and night. There is typically a Saturday evening event for the kids or the arcade. This year there was no Saturday evening activity and the arcade was closed. The kids were a bit disappointed. The water park continues to ware and could benefit from some necessary repairs and a freshening up. Lastly, the firewood for the past two years has been way too wet to use. They shouldn’t sell it if it’s too wet. Overall, it was a good weekend but for the cost everything should be in good working order.
Aug 05, 2024 · Kristin McGivernI didn’t know what to expect after reading these reviews. However, we had a fantastic stay! The cabins were clean and had two air conditioners in the unit. It had basic pots & pans, coffee pot, toaster, full size fridge/freezer, stove and microwave! Very spacious front porch. Respectful neighbors at night, no encounters with any rude people, the connivence store was actually very reasonably priced as well! If I had to find ONE thing that was “annoying” it would be that the bathroom door in the cabin is very noisy when it’s shutting. The pools were crystal clear and clean. One is heated, one isn’t. The water park was a huge hit. It stays open until 10pm and the playground area stays lit until 11pm! They also have a smaller kiddie pool, as well as an adult pool (no one under 21) which was a nice option to have as well. We were also impressed with how clean everything was. Worth every penny spent this weekend!
