Coldbrook Resort Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Gansevoort, New York area, Coldbrook Resort Campground, situated at 385 Gurn Springs Rd, Gansevoort, NY 12831, USA, presents itself as a destination with a strong sense of community and a range of activities. To get in touch, you can call them at (518) 584-9700 or +1 518-584-9700. Understanding the nuances of any campground is crucial for a satisfying experience, and the available reviews offer contrasting perspectives that local users should consider.
One long-term visitor of nine years describes Coldbrook Resort Campground as their "second home" and emphasizes the strong sense of community present within the park. This reviewer highlights the friendly atmosphere, where interactions with fellow campers, whether walking, biking, or using golf carts, are common and welcoming. The social aspect appears to be a significant draw, with mentions of "great bands," "food trucks," "potlucks," and various "activities/events for all ages." This suggests a lively and engaging environment with opportunities for socializing and entertainment. The reviewer also notes the positive attitude of the community, stating that even in rainy weather, people find ways to have fun. Furthermore, the staff is described as "great" and hardworking, dedicated to ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone. This paints a picture of a campground that prioritizes community building and offers a range of social and recreational activities.
However, a more critical review from a visitor who has been on the road for four years presents a significantly different perspective, labeling Coldbrook Resort Campground as the "most unaccommodating" they have encountered. This review raises several concerns regarding the campground's services and management. One major issue highlighted is the lack of mail and package delivery services, with the reviewer stating that mail, Amazon, UPS, and FedEx deliveries are not accommodated, and there is no outgoing mailbox. This could be a significant inconvenience for campers who rely on these services, especially those staying for extended periods.
Another significant complaint pertains to the condition of the campsite upon arrival. The reviewer describes their site as being "covered with leaves sticks and garbage." Additionally, they reported "hundreds of ant hills" that infiltrated their camper. While acknowledging that they were told to maintain the spot, the reviewer felt it should have been provided in a clean condition initially. This suggests a potential lack of attention to site preparation between guests.
Furthermore, the negative review mentions disruptions to essential services, specifically the water supply being shut off "during the middle of the day" without any prior notification. This lack of communication could lead to significant inconvenience for campers relying on water for various needs. The reviewer also expresses frustration with the accessibility of the office staff, claiming that "no one is ever at the office," and even when staff are present, they defer issues to "The Management," whom the reviewer suspects are the owners. This raises concerns about the responsiveness and direct engagement of the campground's leadership.
Additional points of criticism include the allowance of political signs and flags, which may be a point of contention for some visitors depending on their preferences. The reviewer also notes the lack of recycling facilities, stating that "everything goes into the dumpster," which may be a concern for environmentally conscious campers. Despite these negative experiences, the reviewer did acknowledge that the people around their site were "very nice," and that many seasonal campers live within a 30-minute radius, reinforcing the sense of local community mentioned in the positive review.
Considering the category "camping near me," Coldbrook Resort Campground offers a location in Gansevoort, NY, making it accessible for local residents seeking a quick getaway. The positive review suggests that for some, particularly those who value a strong sense of community and enjoy organized activities, it can be a welcoming "second home." The emphasis on bands, food trucks, potlucks, and events indicates a focus on creating a social and entertaining environment that might appeal to families and individuals looking for an engaging camping experience close to home.
However, the negative review raises serious concerns that local users should carefully consider. The lack of mail and package delivery could be a significant drawback for those planning longer stays or needing to receive deliveries. The issue of unclean campsites upon arrival and the presence of pests like ants suggest potential problems with site maintenance. Unannounced water shutoffs can lead to considerable inconvenience and discomfort. The difficulty in contacting management and the lack of recycling facilities are also important factors to weigh.
It's important for local users searching for "camping near me" to reconcile these contrasting experiences. The campground appears to foster a strong community among some long-term or seasonal visitors who appreciate the social events and friendly atmosphere. However, transient visitors may encounter issues with services and site conditions. The lack of specific promotional information in the provided text means that local users will need to contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about rates, availability, and any current specials. It would also be prudent to ask specific questions about mail and package handling policies, site preparation procedures, water service reliability, and recycling options before making a reservation.
In conclusion, Coldbrook Resort Campground offers a local camping option in Gansevoort, NY, with a seemingly vibrant community and a focus on social activities, as highlighted by one long-term visitor. However, potential guests should be aware of the significant concerns raised by another reviewer regarding the lack of mail service, issues with site cleanliness and pests, unannounced water disruptions, limited management accessibility, and the absence of recycling. Local users considering Coldbrook Resort Campground for their "camping near me" needs should weigh these contrasting perspectives and potentially contact the campground directly to address any specific concerns before making a decision. The strong sense of community might be a significant draw for some, while the reported service and maintenance issues could be a deterrent for others. A balanced perspective, considering both the positive and negative feedback, is essential for making an informed choice.

Coldbrook Resort Campground Reviews
Coldbrook has been my second home for 9 years now and I love it here. It has become a second family. As you walk, bike or golf cart around the park, everyone is always friendly and saying hello or striking up conversation (even the furry friends)! Great bands, food trucks, potlucks and activities/ events for all ages. Even in the rain we all find a way to make it fun. Staff is great and they work hard to make it enjoyable for everyone. It’s camping and it’s all about having fun!
Aug 18, 2024 · Christine LorenzBeen on the road for the past 4 years. No camp ground has been more Unaccommodating than this one. No mail delivery, no amazon, no UPS, no FedEx. No mailbox for out going mail. We arrived to out site and it was covered with leaves sticks and garbage. On top of that the actual site had hundreds of ant hills that eventually got into our camper. They told us we need to maintain the spot, ok, but at least give it to us clean. They shut off water during the middle of the day, no heads up, no memo, no note on the door, NOTHING. No one is ever at the office. Even when there they pass everything on and say we must speak with "The Management" Im pretty sure the woman in the office who always said that and her husband own the place. They allow political signs and flags. They do not recycle, everything goes into the dumpster. No desire to ever go back here. The people around our site were very nice. Most people who stay there for the summer live no more than a 30 minutes away. This camp site was the worst we stayed at in 4 years!
Nov 01, 2024 · Pax SheppardThis was our first year at Coldbrook. Sad day today. We closed up the camper and said good bye for the winter. The management, Steve and Terry are wonderful. They care about their employees which shows in the cleanliness of the park. The pool is always pristine. Each time we went for a swim the water sparkled and not a speck of dirt on the bottom. We had a windy rainy storm with many branches that came down but by the time we got there on the weekend the grounds were cleaned and so was the pool! I am not sure what the person meant about the grass not being mowed but the common grounds are always mowed. Each site needs to keep up their own grounds. Common sense. The public bathrooms are always clean. The Pavilion where bingo and other activities are held, always clean. Steve and Terry care about each and every person that camps at Coldbrook. We are their second family. You can not be in the office 24/7. They leave their phone number on the door when they are not there in case of emergency. They love us so much and want us to return each year so they make sure there are plenty of activities to do on the weekends along with some yummy food trucks. There is going to be chatter and laughter around the campfires but that is a big part of CAMPING! People work all week and just want to have a little bit of fun and friendship on the weekends. So, if you do not like fun noise then this is not for you. Thank you to our neighbors for welcoming us. Thank you to the mayor of the park (you know who I mean-LOL) who made it a point to walk over from a street over and welcome us. We did not participate in a lot of the activities this year but next year we plan on it. I have to get some bingo dabbers and make it a point to go.Your dogs are welcome here as well. Everyone picks up after their dogs. Like I said the park is clean! Thank you Steve, Terry and all the workers and volunteers that make this place a pleasure to call our summer home. 7 months and counting for the 2025 season!
Oct 16, 2024 · Mary DiehlWe have been here 7 going on 8 years. People are amazing. Management wonderful. So much to do. Nowhere else I would spend my summers
Oct 20, 2021 · Tricia NellisThe office is never open and when it is ur not even aloud inside! They can't even handle getting accurate electric bills out on time. The drive way where it meets the man road needs to be paved in the worst way. Lawn care is almost non existent. The price is right but don't expect to much for your money. Also a large party style vibe over the weekends with people coming in and out all night long during the weekends.
