Rivers Edge Retreat Introduce
For those in the Greenwich, New York area, or those searching for "camping near me" in a riverside setting, Rivers Edge Retreat, located at 213 Fiddlers Elbow Rd, Greenwich, NY 12834, USA, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. These reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the environment, services, and overall experience, which potential local users should carefully consider.
One review describes an "absolutely terrifying experience" from a solo female traveler. According to this account, the "owner" engaged in inappropriate behavior, including making repeated inappropriate jokes and remarks, asking if she was single, and taking her into his house during a 30-minute golf cart ride when she was the only camper present. This reviewer felt so uncomfortable that she fabricated having a boyfriend in her tent and ultimately left the campground before nightfall, expressing regret for not having seen a previous warning from another woman about similar inappropriate remarks from the owner. This paints a concerning picture regarding the safety and treatment of at least one solo female guest.
In stark contrast, another review describes a positive "first camping experience." This reviewer stated that the owner was "extremely hospitable," checked on them to ensure they had everything needed, and invited them to join a bonfire at the clubhouse. They also highlighted the availability of kayaks for rent, which they used to go down the river, and mentioned a hike to a waterfall that they learned about from the owners. Despite rainy and cold weather, this reviewer found it to be a "great experience," recommended the retreat, and expressed intentions to return. This account suggests a welcoming and engaging host who provides opportunities for outdoor activities.
Considering these two very different experiences, it is challenging to provide a uniformly objective introduction. The environment of Rivers Edge Retreat seems to be a key feature, with its location along a river that allows for activities like kayaking. The mention of a hike to a waterfall also suggests a natural setting with opportunities for exploration. The availability of kayaks for rent indicates a service provided by the campground to enhance the guest experience.
However, the drastically different accounts of the owner's behavior cannot be ignored. One review portrays a hospitable and engaging host, while the other describes an individual who made a solo female traveler feel deeply uncomfortable and unsafe. This discrepancy raises significant concerns about the consistency and appropriateness of the interactions guests might have with the owner.
Regarding features, the positive review mentions the availability of kayaks for rent and information about a local hiking trail to a waterfall. The invitation to a bonfire at a clubhouse suggests a communal aspect to the campground, although this might not always be offered or might not appeal to all campers. The negative review, focusing on the interaction with the owner, does not provide insights into other features or services of the campground.
There is no promotional information provided in the reviews. Therefore, we cannot comment on any special offers or incentives to stay at Rivers Edge Retreat.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Rivers Edge Retreat's location in Greenwich, NY, makes it geographically convenient. The potential for riverside activities like kayaking and the possibility of hiking to a waterfall could be appealing. However, the serious allegation of inappropriate behavior by the owner, as described by one reviewer, should give potential guests pause, particularly solo female travelers. The contrasting positive review indicates that some guests have had enjoyable experiences, suggesting that interactions might vary significantly.
Given the conflicting nature of the feedback, it is crucial for potential visitors to weigh these accounts carefully. If you are a solo female traveler, the negative review raises significant red flags. If you are traveling with a partner or in a group, your experience might align more closely with the positive review, where the owner was perceived as hospitable and helpful. However, the risk of encountering the behavior described in the negative review cannot be dismissed based solely on the provided information.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding and potentially address the concerns raised, interested local users might consider contacting Rivers Edge Retreat directly at (518) 538-8513 or +1 518-538-8513 to inquire about their policies, safety measures, and the management's approach to guest interactions. It would also be prudent to seek additional reviews from other sources, if available, to get a broader range of perspectives on the campground.
In conclusion, Rivers Edge Retreat offers a riverside environment in Greenwich, NY, with potential for activities like kayaking and hiking. While one reviewer experienced a positive and hospitable stay, another reported a deeply uncomfortable and concerning encounter with the owner. This significant discrepancy makes it impossible to provide a straightforwardly positive or negative introduction. Local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of these contrasting experiences and consider them carefully before making a decision. Further investigation and direct communication with the campground might be advisable to ascertain whether it aligns with individual expectations and safety considerations.

Rivers Edge Retreat Reviews
absolutely terrifying experience. As a solo woman traveler (who is very small and only 21) i was approached by the “owner” who brought me on the golf cart for 30 minutes and repeatedly made inappropriate jokes and remarks, including asking if i was single and making me go into his house. There was not a single other person at the campground, leaving just me and this man who wouldn’t get the hint to leave me alone. I felt so uncomfortable i lied about having a boyfriend sleeping in the tent. I read a review on here from a woman warning other women to not stay here, and that the owner made inappropriate remarks. I wish i had seen that before spending $60 to be traumatized and leave before it even got dark. Take it from me, absolutely do not stay here if you aren’t prepared to fend off a creep.
Oct 21, 2024 · Kiara HaskinsWe chose this place because it was close to home and my partner thought it would be a great first camping experience for me. And he was absolutely right. The owner was extremely hospitable, came and checked up on us and made sure we had everything we needed, offered for us to go join them at the clubhouse for a bonfire, etc. They have kayaks for rent so we took some out and went down the river and hiked to a waterfall they told us about. Despite the rainy/cold weather, it was definitely a great experience. Definitely recommend and will be returning again soon!
Jun 08, 2023 · Samantha SawyerI recently had the pleasure of staying at this enchanting campsite nestled by the river. The soothing sound of the river and the serenading owl calls at night created a truly immersive natural experience. The outdoor fire pit was perfect for a cozy gathering and roasting marshmallows, adding to the overall ambiance. My teen boys also loved it! There is a small waterfall nearby which added an extra touch to the serene setting. It is truly a perfect escape for nature lovers seeking tranquility and connection with nature. I would highly recommend!
Oct 17, 2023 · DR BGMRileyWhat an awesome spot! We stayed here for 3 days right on the Batten Kill river with deer, falcons, herons beavers etc. for company. Todd and Hector made sure we had everything we needed and kept us supplied with firewood. There are some great hikes right from our site and also a supermarket close by which we walked to. Todd has only recently taken over the RV retreat and has great plans which will only make the place even better. I will definitely be back.
