Lake George Campsites Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Lake George area of New York? Lake George Campsites, located at 1053 US-9, Queensbury, NY 12804, and reachable at (518) 798-6218 or +1 518-798-6218, presents an option for those seeking to explore the region. Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at this campground appears to be a mixed one, with some positive aspects alongside notable drawbacks that potential visitors should be aware of.
The environment of Lake George Campsites is described by one reviewer as feeling like "camping in a truck stop - on the highway." Another mentions that while you can't see the highway and the place "looks great," you will "hear it the entire time you're there." This suggests that while the visual appeal of the campground might be present, its proximity to US-9 results in significant and persistent highway noise. This is an important consideration for campers seeking a quiet and nature-immersive experience. The location on a major thoroughfare, however, could offer convenient access to the attractions and amenities of the Lake George region.
In terms of services and facilities, the reviews provide contrasting perspectives:
- Friendly and Helpful Staff: One reviewer specifically gave a 4-star rating primarily because "the people that work there where very nice and helpful." This indicates a positive aspect of the service provided at the campground.
- Minimal Maintenance: Conversely, another reviewer described the campground as a "dump" with "very minimal maintenance" done, specifically mentioning the grass. This suggests that the upkeep of the grounds might be lacking.
- Pool Concerns: A significant concern was raised about the pool, with a reviewer stating, "Beware of the pool. Rust on the outer edges makes it an unsafe place to swim." This is a critical point for potential campers, especially families, who might be looking to use this amenity.
- Booking Issues: One reviewer reported not obtaining the site they booked, and that their friends experienced the same issue. They also noted a lack of willingness from management to resolve these booking discrepancies.
- Spotty Internet: The internet service at the campground is described as "spotty at best," which might be a consideration for those needing to stay connected.
The features of Lake George Campsites, as perceived through the lens of customer feedback, present a mixed bag:
- Proximity to Lake George Area: While not explicitly stated, the name and location suggest reasonable access to the attractions and natural beauty of the Lake George region.
- Highway Accessibility: Its location on US-9 offers easy access to transportation routes, which could be convenient for exploring the surrounding area. However, this comes at the cost of highway noise.
- Friendly Staff (Reported): The helpfulness and niceness of the staff are a noted positive.
On the other hand, negative features highlighted include:
- Highway Noise: A persistent issue affecting the camping experience.
- Poor Maintenance (Reported): Concerns about the upkeep of the grounds.
- Potentially Unsafe Pool (Reported): Issues with the condition of the swimming pool.
- Booking Discrepancies: Problems with receiving the reserved campsite.
- Unreliable Internet: Spotty internet connectivity.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not mention any specific deals or promotions. Given the feedback, it's possible that the campground focuses on its location within the Lake George area as its primary draw, rather than offering discounts or special packages. Potential "promotional" aspects could theoretically include highlighting the friendly staff or the convenience of its location on US-9 for travelers, but these are not framed as promotions in the reviews.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Lake George region, Lake George Campsites offers a location with access to the area's attractions. However, the reviews strongly suggest considering the potential downsides, particularly the highway noise, the reported lack of maintenance, and the concerns about the pool. While the staff is mentioned as friendly, the fundamental aspects of a pleasant camping experience, such as a peaceful environment and well-maintained facilities, appear to be areas of concern based on recent feedback.
Before making a decision to camp at Lake George Campsites, it would be prudent to weigh the convenience of its location against the potential for noise and the reported condition of the facilities. If a quiet, nature-filled experience is your priority, you might want to explore other campgrounds in the Lake George area. However, if proximity to the highway and potentially lower prices are more important, and you are prepared for potential noise, this campground might still be a viable option. It would be wise to inquire about the current status of the pool and any recent maintenance efforts if you choose to contact them. Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual priorities and tolerance for the issues raised in the customer reviews regarding this "camping near me" option.

Lake George Campsites Reviews
I should have done my homework. Truly a dump. Very minimal maintenance is done…grass etc. Management very stiff not willing to please a customer. Excuses… Did not obtain the site we booked. Our friends either. The neighbors that came in on the second night - same story and no willingness to budge. Perhaps a tip would have worked… The good news is my money is accepted everywhere I choose to spend it and next time I go to Lake George, one of the other campgrounds will get it. Beware of the pool. Rust on the outer edges makes it an unsafe place to swim. If you like feeling like your camping in a truck stop - on the highway- this is the place for you. Internet is spotty at best.Enjoy!
Aug 01, 2024 · Stephen PigeonI'm giving 4 stars because the people that work there where very nice and helpful. However, you're basically camping on the side of a highway. You can't see it and the place looks great, but you will hear it the entire time you're there.
Oct 31, 2024 · Corey VanceGreat campground, I found it thru Passport America. The manager Chris was very nice and efficient!! They had several available sites and all were spacious! We played pool and walked around a bit. Walked to a local breakfast cafe close by in the morning.
Oct 03, 2024 · Tricia TWe used the tent sites. Location depending on what you are looking for is perfect and horrible. Perfectly close to all the attractions within 20 mins, Mini golf and brewery are right outside the gate. Martha's down the road. Horribly close to 87 in the back where you will hear the trucks all night long. Campsites are okay, would have preferred a nice flat area but our site was a bit more rocky. The check-in was quick and easy, the shower was nice and clean, bathrooms on the other hand need more attention or better toilets and more time cleaning the sink area. We didn't get to use the pool area but kids did get to play volleyball and basketball with other campers so that kept them busy.
Jul 29, 2024 · BrianWe stayed on Z31 campsite. It has been up graded since first staying here a few years ago. Complete full hookups! Water ,50 Amp electric, & now sewer! Enjoyed our stay & staff was more than helpful!! See you next year!
