King Phillips Campground & Resort Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the popular Lake George region of New York? King Phillips Campground & Resort, situated at 14 Bloody Pond Rd, Lake George, NY, offers a location with convenient access to the lake and surrounding attractions. Based on recent customer feedback, it presents a mixed picture for potential campers, with strong positives regarding location and staff friendliness contrasted by significant concerns about safety and property maintenance.
The location of King Phillips Campground & Resort is undeniably a major draw. Several reviewers highlight its fantastic accessibility to Lake George. One particularly convenient feature is the availability of a shuttle service right in front of the campground, with a nominal fee of $1 per ride. This makes it easy for campers to visit the bustling village of Lake George without the hassle of parking. This accessibility is a significant advantage for those wanting to explore the shops, restaurants, and attractions that Lake George is famous for, all while enjoying a camping experience nearby.
For those who enjoy active transportation, King Phillips Campground & Resort also boasts proximity to a bike path. One reviewer specifically mentioned walking and biking to Lake George using this path, indicating a safe and enjoyable route for exploring the area at a leisurely pace. This feature is a great amenity for cyclists and pedestrians looking to experience the scenic beauty of the region and access Lake George Village in an alternative way.
Another aspect praised by a reviewer is the quiet atmosphere of the campground. This can be a significant benefit for campers seeking a peaceful and relaxing retreat, particularly those without young children or those who prefer a more serene environment. The reviewer explicitly noted that families with children might prefer a campground with a more structured activity schedule, suggesting that King Phillips caters to a more adult-oriented or laid-back camping crowd.
However, it is crucial to address a serious concern raised in one of the reviews regarding the safety and maintenance of the campground. A former seasonal camper of ten years detailed a troubling experience involving multiple requests over five months, both verbal and via email, for the removal of a dead tree on the property. Despite assurances that it would be taken care of, the tree eventually fell, causing approximately $10,000 worth of damage to their camper. The reviewer further stated that the campground initially claimed the tree belonged to a neighbor, but the reviewer provided proof to the contrary, after which there was no further response ("crickets"). This same reviewer also mentioned the presence of "multiple dead trees" and "low hanging power wires" on the property, raising significant safety concerns for potential campers, especially those with RVs or larger vehicles.
On a more positive note, another first-time visitor had a great experience with King Phillips, specifically highlighting the friendliness and accommodating nature of the office staff. Vicky was mentioned by name for her exceptional service, and another unnamed staff member was also praised. This reviewer also commented on the "great" campsites, describing them as "some of the best I have ever seen." However, this reviewer did note that they did not use the restrooms as they had a camper with its own facilities.
Considering the mixed feedback, potential local users considering King Phillips Campground & Resort for their "camping near me" needs should weigh the pros and cons carefully. The location offers excellent access to Lake George via shuttle and a bike path, and the campground is reported to be quiet, which may appeal to certain demographics. The friendly and accommodating office staff is also a notable positive.
However, the serious safety concerns raised by a long-term former camper regarding unmaintained dead trees and low-hanging power lines cannot be ignored. This issue resulted in significant property damage and raises questions about the overall maintenance and safety protocols of the campground. While another reviewer found the campsites to be excellent, the potential hazards described by the first reviewer warrant careful consideration and perhaps direct inquiry with the campground management regarding their current maintenance practices and safety measures.
Given the conflicting reports, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of the environment, services, and features without further information. The environment is likely typical of the Lake George region, with a wooded setting, but the extent of tree maintenance issues needs to be clarified. Services likely include basic campground amenities such as water hookups, electric hookups (for some sites), and potentially a dump station for RVs. The availability and condition of restrooms and showers are not consistently reported. Features include the shuttle service to Lake George and proximity to the bike path. Recreational amenities are not mentioned, which aligns with the description of a quiet campground perhaps not focused on extensive activities.
There is no promotional information available in the provided text. Therefore, local users interested in King Phillips Campground & Resort should contact them directly at (518) 668-5763 or +1 518-668-5763 to inquire about campsite availability, pricing, specific amenities, and, importantly, to address the safety concerns raised in the reviews. It would be prudent to ask about their tree maintenance policies and the condition of power lines on the property before making a reservation, especially if you value the safety of your camping equipment and your family.
In conclusion, King Phillips Campground & Resort offers a conveniently located and potentially quiet "camping near me" option in Lake George, with friendly office staff and good access to the lake via shuttle and bike path. However, significant safety concerns regarding unmaintained dead trees and low-hanging power lines have been raised by a former long-term camper and should be carefully considered by potential visitors. Direct communication with the campground management is essential to obtain current information and address these critical safety issues before making a decision.

King Phillips Campground & Resort Reviews
If you value your camper or motor home stay away. Was seasonal for 10 years. Requested 5 times for a dead tree to be cut down verbally and emails. They said they would take care of it. After 5 months of request tree came down and did 10k worth of damage to camper. They then said it was neighbors tree. I provided proof and t was there’s and crickets. Multiple dead trees in there, low hanging power wires. Stay away. Picture with blue dot is app I used standing on the stump of the tree that came down which clearly shows I’m on campground property.
Apr 27, 2025 · Pat DecrescenzoOur first visit with King Phillips was great! The people in the office were so friendly and accommodating. Thank you, Vicky, for being so nice. I didn't get the other girl's name but she was very nice as well. The campsites are great! Some of the best I have ever seen. Note: We didn't use the restrooms. We have a camper. The location of the campground is fantastic! We jumped on a shuttle in front of the campground (paid $1) whenever we needed it. We also loved the bike path, which we walked/biked to Lake George on.Campground is very quiet. If you have children, you might prefer a campground with an activity schedule. Our kids are grown, so we think this campground is what is best for us at this point in our lives.
Jul 27, 2024 · Kristine MAs most of the reviews mention the location of this campground is outstanding. Besides the proximity to Lake George Village what was a big plus for us is the bike path which runs right past the entrance of the campground. You can take it all the way down to the lake or up towards Glens Falls. For something fun you can ride towards Glens Falls until you reach Glen Lake Rd. Turn left and a little ways down is the Docksider Restaurant. Lakeside Dining.Upon check in the staff was very friendly. Store has basics. Check in was smooth. You are not able to pick a site. We were pleasantly surprised with the site we got. Level and spacious, we had C1. Full hook up.You will absolutely hear road noise on route 9 but it didn't bother us.They have a nice pool, pavilion, showers and a game room. We did not use it but I saw a laundry as well.Had a nice stay - Thank You.
Jul 31, 2024 · Dan HReally nice campground. Clean and quiet, except for a few episodes. Bathrooms clean, showers clean. Even after all the rain they did great keeping up with cleaning the bathrooms. If I had any complaints it would be that there was no security at night and no one patrolling. Which means no way to report night time noise or problems. I do have one suggestion for the campground. It might be nice if you put some bars in some your bathroom stalls for people that have difficulty getting up. This was our second time staying there. We will come again.
Aug 11, 2024 · Heidi StarukIt's a large campground that doesn't *feel* like one, and that's great. The people who work in the office are some of the kindest we've ever experienced at a campground. The only negative I can think of is that it's pretty close to the highway so you can hear cars in the distance all night. But that's a minor thing that's only an issue if you camp in a tent like we did. We'll definitely be back.
