Lake George Battleground State Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the scenic Lake George region of New York? Lake George Battleground State Campground, located at 2224 US-9, Lake George, NY 12845, and reachable at (518) 668-3348 or +1 518-668-3348, offers an affordable gateway to the Adirondacks. Based on recent customer reviews, this state-run campground is situated in a prime location, providing easy access to the many attractions of the Lake George area. However, it's important for potential campers to be aware of certain aspects highlighted by those who have stayed there.
The environment of Lake George Battleground State Campground is described as being in a "million dollar spot," indicating its proximity to the natural beauty and attractions that make Lake George a popular destination. This suggests that campers can expect to be near the lake itself and potentially have access to the surrounding Adirondack region. The campground is noted as being "little" or "small," which might imply a more intimate setting compared to larger, more sprawling campgrounds. While the natural beauty of the area is a significant draw, some reviews mention that the campground's location along US-9 results in noticeable road noise.
In terms of services and facilities, the reviews provide some insights:
- Clean and Modern Facilities: One reviewer specifically mentions that the facilities are "super clean and quite modern," which is a significant positive for campers looking for well-maintained amenities.
- Accessibility to Attractions: The campground's location offers "ease of access to multiple ADK spots," making it a convenient base for exploring the wider Adirondack region and the Lake George area itself.
- Affordability: The "ratio to $" for "bang for your bucks" is noted as being excellent, suggesting that this campground offers a budget-friendly camping option in a desirable location.
However, the reviews also point out some features that potential campers should consider:
- Road Noise: Multiple reviewers mention that the proximity to US-9 means that car noise is a constant presence, especially at night. This is particularly noted for those who are tent camping.
- Campsite Proximity: The campground is described as being quite close, with one reviewer mentioning that you are "close to each other or what." This might mean less privacy between campsites.
- Suitability for Larger RVs: One review suggests that the campground might not be ideal for "larger travel trailers," implying that some sites might be smaller or have tighter maneuvering spaces.
Based on the available information, there isn't specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. State campgrounds often have standardized pricing set by the state parks department rather than frequent promotions like private campgrounds. However, the "bang for your bucks" comment suggests that the primary value proposition here is affordability in a sought-after location. Potential "promotional" aspects could be considered the inherent appeal of the Lake George region and the relatively lower cost of state park camping compared to private options in the area.
For local users looking for "camping near me" around Lake George, this state campground presents an economical option with clean facilities and excellent access to the region's attractions. The trade-offs, as highlighted by other campers, are the potential for noise from the nearby highway and the closer proximity of campsites. If you are sensitive to noise, bringing earplugs or headphones is recommended. If you have a very large RV, it might be wise to inquire specifically about site suitability when making a reservation.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding site availability, specific amenities, and any potential advisories (such as noise levels in certain areas), it is advisable to contact Lake George Battleground State Campground directly at the provided phone number or visit the New York State Parks website. Reservations are often recommended, especially during peak season. Despite the noted drawbacks, the campground's location and affordability make it a viable option for those wanting to experience the beauty and activities of the Lake George and Adirondack regions without breaking the bank. Weigh the pros and cons based on your preferences and enjoy your time exploring the "million dollar spot" that this campground calls home.

Lake George Battleground State Campground Reviews
Quaint LITTLE campground in a million dollar spot. You cannot beat the ratio to $ for bang for your bucks. BUT no matter the spot you pick the car noise will be your buddy for all your stay, especially if tenting. And May you not have many toddlers surrounding your spot because boy oh boy, are we close to each other or what. But the ease of access to multiple ADK spot beats the screaming toddlers and the motel prices. The facilities are super clean and quite modern. So bring ear plugs, ear phones and enjoy this stay.
Sep 30, 2024 · NenaThe place is great. Small little campground, not so great for larger travel trailers. Only downside is it’s so close to the road cars going by especially at night are constantly reving there car engines and motorcycles.
Sep 15, 2024 · Billy DardanelliNice campground! Located in the village of Lake George. All of the village attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. There is also diner and a bowling alley across the street. The only real set back is that this campground is on the smaller side. There is some very nice sites. Most of the sites here are small. They are also right on top of each other.
Apr 22, 2024 · Rob ZuberRight next the very noisy part of town. Sites are tiny with no privacy. Buildings are ok and semi well maintained.Good for an overnight stay to visit Lake George on your way…
Aug 19, 2024 · Jac DupuisThe staff and campgrounds are great. Only problem we had was the spot we picked was too small for our RV. The staff settled that for us and we thank them for that. All sites have burn pits for cooking or just a campfire. The restrooms and showers are unbelievable. Outstanding. We would definitely go back. Campgrounds are close to everything in Lake George
