The environment at Anchor Woods Campground is characterized by its tranquil wooded setting, as highlighted by a recent visitor who enjoyed the "giant pine trees" providing ample shade. This creates a cool and pleasant atmosphere, especially welcome during warmer months. The campground is thoughtfully maintained, with areas "mowed nice for walking," suggesting attention to the overall upkeep and accessibility for guests to explore the grounds comfortably. The presence of mature trees not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also contributes to a sense of immersion in nature, making it a refreshing escape from urban environments. The quiet ambiance, further emphasized in a review noting the peacefulness of the area, makes Anchor Woods an attractive option for those seeking a relaxing retreat.
Anchor Woods Campground appears to offer a variety of services and features aimed at enhancing the camping experience. One notable amenity, as mentioned by a satisfied camper, is the availability of a pontoon boat for rent. This provides a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the nearby waterways, whether for leisurely cruising, sunbathing, or simply appreciating the scenic beauty from a different perspective. The mention of "ATV's and all their toys" suggests that the campground is also accommodating to ATV enthusiasts, potentially offering access to nearby trails or designated riding areas. This caters to a specific segment of outdoor adventurers looking for thrilling activities in addition to traditional camping.
The social aspect of Anchor Woods Campground is also noteworthy, with a reviewer mentioning "lots of friendly seasonal campers" and a "great group of people." This indicates a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere, where both short-term visitors and long-term residents can enjoy a sense of camaraderie. Interacting with seasonal campers can often provide valuable local insights and enhance the overall camping experience through shared stories and tips about the area.
However, it's important to consider all aspects of the campground based on the available feedback. One reviewer pointed out a potential challenge regarding the leveling of some open sites. They noted that "most open sites are not level," which could be a significant factor for RV owners or those preferring a flat surface for their tents. Additionally, the unique setup of the dump station, described as being "up hill from each spot," led to inconvenience for one guest who had to maneuver their RV into another site to facilitate proper drainage. This is a practical consideration for RV users to be aware of when selecting a site.
Another concern raised in the reviews was the issue of pet waste, with a visitor noting "some dog poop at some of the other sites." This highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and campground etiquette to ensure a clean and pleasant environment for all guests. While this may not be a widespread problem, it's something to be mindful of and reinforces the need for campers to be considerate of shared spaces.
Despite these points, the overall sentiment towards Anchor Woods Campground seems positive, with appreciation for the clean sites and a responsive owner who demonstrated flexibility in accommodating a change of site. The convenience of a "local bar just around the bend" offering food and drinks adds another dimension to the camping experience, providing an option for socializing or enjoying a meal without having to travel far from the campground. The presence of another campground across the street suggests that the area is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, potentially offering additional resources or a wider camping community.
For local users searching under the category "camping near me," Anchor Woods Campground provides a compelling option with its shaded sites, recreational amenities like pontoon rentals and potential ATV access, and a friendly community atmosphere. While some considerations regarding site leveling and pet waste have been mentioned, the positive aspects of the environment, services, and the responsiveness of the owner contribute to a potentially enjoyable camping experience. To get the most current information on promotional offers, availability, and specific site details, it is recommended to contact Anchor Woods Campground directly at the provided phone numbers or explore online booking platforms where they might be listed. Be sure to inquire about site levels if you have specific requirements for your camping setup. By considering all aspects and planning accordingly, Anchor Woods Campground can serve as an excellent local destination for your next outdoor adventure.

Anchor Woods Campground Reviews
Had a great time in the woods for Mother's Day weekend. Giant pine trees shaded our spot. Rented the camp's pontoon boat. Spent the day tooling around getting some sun on my legs. All was mowed nice for walking. Lots of friendly seasonal camper. ATV's and all their toys. Great group of people.
May 14, 2024 · Deo CurtsSite is clean and the owner is responsive to our questions and flexible when we needed to move our site, but just know that most open sites are not level and the way they have the dump (at each site) tends to be up hill from each spot.So in order for us to dump, we had to back into another site so that we were dumping down hill. This was frustrating after spending a long day on the road. Also noticed some dog poop at some of the other sites as well. Please pick up after your pets!!.... Not cool......Other then that, the area was quite and in the woods. Local bar just around the bend provided food and drinks during the two nights that we were there.Allot of seasonal campers as well at this site and the one across the street.
Aug 02, 2024 · Carnell Chappelle Jr.No staff around. Got to our site, and it was so unlevel we couldn't begin to get into it. Tried calling the owner, no answer. Finally after 4 calls, she answered and told us to go to a different site, which worked out well for us. We were lucky. A lot of the sewer hookups are up hill. We saw other campers pulling into vacant sites as they were leaving just so they could empty, as there is no dump station either, all full hookup sites. Some sites are spacious, others not, but very hilly and uneven ground. Quite a few seasonals as well. It was very quiet, though.
Sep 27, 2023 · Karen BourcierWe have camped there several times. Aways a pleasure. Quiet, well kept, clean showers, fun things to do. Will be back this summer.
May 24, 2024 · Jim ReillyVery well kept grounds! Lots of trees and hills. Feels more like camping in the woods than a camping site.
