Trego Park and Campground is ideally located for those wishing to explore the stunning Namekagon River area. According to a recent visitor, the scenery is breathtaking, offering fantastic opportunities for smallmouth fishing and kayaking adventures. The natural beauty of the region makes this campground a prime choice for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a memorable experience.
The campground staff is often commended for their kindness and helpfulness. One reviewer shared a positive experience, highlighting the accommodating nature of the host and her helper. While firewood is available for purchase at the campground, it's worth noting that campers are welcome to bring their own, provided it is locally sourced. This flexibility allows visitors to manage their camping needs conveniently.
In terms of site specifics, Trego Park and Campground has a few unique characteristics to be aware of. The electric and water hookups are shared between pairs of campsites. This arrangement might require some campers to have a longer electric cord to reach the pedestal. One visitor mentioned needing an extension cord but appreciated that the hostess offered an adapter as a temporary solution. Additionally, it's noted that the 3-4 sites located just west of the large pavilion have a slight slope, which might be a consideration for leveling your tent or RV. However, the sites in the east loop and the far west end of the campground are reported to be very flat, offering more straightforward setup options. The abundance of shade throughout the campground is a significant advantage, especially during warmer months, providing a comfortable and cool environment.
For those concerned about facilities, the bathrooms at Trego Park and Campground are consistently described as very clean. The shower operates on a coin system, costing 50¢ for a generous shower of 6+ minutes with nice, hot water. This ensures a refreshing experience after a day of outdoor activities.
The campground fosters a friendly community atmosphere, with several seasonal campers present. Visitors often remark on the pleasant interactions with fellow campers, contributing to a welcoming environment. The water pressure at the campsites is reported to be around 40psi, with no issues regarding odor or taste, making it suitable for drinking. This is a significant convenience for campers who prefer to utilize their onboard water systems.
While the campground is situated near a highway, some road noise is noticeable, particularly in certain areas. However, the east loop of the campground tends to experience significantly less noise, offering a quieter camping experience for those seeking tranquility.
A notable amenity is the availability of Starlink WiFi, providing speeds ranging from 50-100mbps. This is a valuable feature for campers who wish to stay connected, whether for work or leisure. Furthermore, Trego Park and Campground is pet-friendly, warmly welcoming well-behaved dogs without any reported fees, making it an excellent choice for those traveling with their furry companions.
The nightly rate of $35 is considered fair, especially when compared to other campgrounds in the area. For RV campers, a centrally located dump station is available for convenient waste disposal.
Beyond the campground itself, the surrounding area offers plenty to explore. The Namekagon River is a major draw for kayaking and fishing. Additionally, a National Park visitor center is located just east of Trego, offering valuable information about the area, including knowledgeable staff and a variety of maps to help you plan your adventures.
While the vast majority of reviews are positive, it's important to acknowledge all feedback. One reviewer expressed a highly negative experience regarding an interaction with the campground manager, alleging rude behavior towards their children and questioning certain rules. This perspective, while contrasting with other reviews praising the staff, highlights the importance of individual experiences. However, the overall sentiment from other visitors emphasizes a positive and accommodating environment.
In conclusion, Trego Park and Campground presents itself as a well-equipped and conveniently located option for camping enthusiasts in the "camping near me" category. With its proximity to the scenic Namekagon River, clean facilities, amenities like Starlink WiFi, and a generally welcoming atmosphere for families and pets, it offers a solid base for exploring the natural beauty of Wisconsin. While there are a few quirks regarding shared utilities and slightly sloped sites in certain areas, the positive aspects, such as the helpful staff, clean bathrooms, and the overall value, make Trego Park and Campground a strong contender for your next camping adventure.

Trego Park and Campground Reviews
We stayed for a few days while kayaking the Namekagon river. What an amazing area to explore. 5/5 for scenery, smallmouth fishing and fun.I read some of the recent reviews and have a different perspective. The campground host and her helper were both kind and accommodating. We never felt put off by them. The campground offers wood for sale, but you don't HAVE to buy it here. It just needs to be locally sourced. There are a couple quirks that bear mentioning. The electric and water are shared at each pair of sites. This means that one camper will need to have a longer electric cord to reach the pedestal. Ours wouldn't reach (will be buying a 30A extension cord!!) but the hostess had an adapter that she loaned which helped a ton. The 3-4 sites just west of the big pavilion have a slight slope, just be aware. The sites in the east loop and far west end are very flat. Lots of shade which is a plus. Some tree limbs overhang the road and could be trimmed back to avoid dragging on the side of your camper.Bathrooms are very clean. Shower is 50¢ for 6+ minutes. Water is nice and hot.Several seasonal campers are here, people are all very nice.Water pressure at our site was 40psi, no bad odor or taste. Perfect for drinking. There is some road noise off of the highway, but much less in the east loop. Starlink WiFi is nice, speeds 50-100mbps. Well behaved dogs are very welcomed here. We were not asked to pay a fee (as one prior comment mentioned). $35/ night seemed fair for the area competition. Dump station centrally located. There's a lot to explore, but if we decide to return to the Namekagon, we will camp here again. Oh, the National Park visitor center just east of Trego had tons of goot Intel about the area. Knowledgeable staff, lots of maps.
Aug 14, 2024 · Parker KelleyIdk who the campground manager thinks she is. But she needs a reality check. How DARE you accost my children and speak to them soo rudely. It's a campground designed for family fun. Furthermore, to tell my child she could NOT get ready in the bathroom area is ABSOLUTELY reprehensible. I would ENJOY a face to face with you regarding this incident. I will pursue further investigation into your racism, sexism and other business tactics.
Jul 30, 2024 · Tammy BrownHost was very rude.. she approached our site and asked if we had registered I said yes, on line. She was upset we didn’t stop at office first and we advised our check in instructions did not state to do so. We advised her we registered on line, received our site # and paid. That wasn’t good enough for her. There is more to her rudeness but it’s safe to say we will not be back.
Aug 04, 2024 · Mark PierceMy friends and I always go camping at the end of September every year, and this is our second year staying at this campsite. Lady who runs it is friendly. It has great facilities - warm running water, coin-operated shower etc, easy access, clean, and quiet.Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay somewhere affordable and fairly straight forward.
Sep 25, 2023 · Vito S. BortolottiThe location is great. Camp host is less than friendly. Seasonal campers were welcoming.
