For local residents and travelers passing through the Eugene, Oregon area seeking a high-quality "camping near me" experience, Armitage Park Campground, located at 90064 Coburg Rd, Eugene, OR 97408, USA, offers a beautiful and well-equipped option. With contact phone numbers (541) 682-2000 and +1 541-682-2000, this county park campground provides a range of amenities and a pleasant environment for both short and longer stays. Based on recent customer reviews, Armitage Park Campground stands out for its scenic setting, convenient location, and excellent facilities, making it a top choice for those looking for a reliable and enjoyable camping experience in the Eugene vicinity.
Within the "camping near me" category, Armitage Park Campground is particularly appealing as a "decent RV park that wasn’t in a trailer park," as noted by one satisfied visitor. This distinction highlights the park's focus on providing a more natural and spacious camping environment compared to some commercial RV parks. The campground is described as a "beautiful wooded county park" encompassing approximately 30 well-spaced sites. This generous spacing between campsites contributes to a sense of privacy and tranquility, allowing campers to enjoy their surroundings without feeling crowded. The wooded environment adds to the aesthetic appeal, providing shade and a connection with nature that many local users seek when looking for "camping near me."
Armitage Park Campground boasts a comprehensive list of amenities designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of its guests. For personal hygiene, the availability of "private shower/restrooms" is a significant advantage. One review specifies that there are four such private shower/restroom units, offering a level of comfort and privacy not always found in traditional campground bathhouses. This feature is particularly appreciated by travelers and families who value cleanliness and personal space. In addition to private facilities, the campground also offers a laundry facility equipped with three washers and dryers, making it convenient for longer stays to take care of laundry needs without having to leave the park. This is a valuable service for RV travelers and those camping for multiple days.
Each campsite at Armitage Park Campground is well-equipped for a comfortable stay. All sites include a fire ring, essential for enjoying campfires and outdoor cooking, and a picnic table, providing a dedicated space for meals and outdoor activities. For RVers, the campground offers full RV hookups, including electricity (E), water (W), and sewer (S) connections. The electrical hookups are specified as 30/50 amp, catering to a wide range of RV sizes and power needs. This comprehensive hookup service makes Armitage Park Campground an excellent choice for local RV owners seeking a convenient and well-serviced "RV park near me."
For those traveling with pets, Armitage Park Campground includes a dog park nearby, providing a dedicated and safe space for dogs to exercise and socialize off-leash. This pet-friendly feature is a significant draw for many local campers who consider their furry companions part of the family. Additionally, the campground features a short trail along the river, offering opportunities for leisurely walks, enjoying the natural scenery, and perhaps even some wildlife viewing. The presence of a river adds to the overall ambiance of the park, providing a soothing natural element.
The location of Armitage Park Campground is described as convenient due to its proximity to the I-5 interstate. This accessibility makes it an easy stop for travelers passing through the area and a quick getaway for local residents. Despite its nearness to the I-5, reviewers note that the noise level is not excessive, allowing for a peaceful camping experience. However, one review also mentions the presence of a gravel plant nearby, which may contribute to some background noise. Overall, the convenience of the location without significant noise disruption is a notable feature for those seeking "camping near me" with easy access.
While the campground appears to be a great option throughout the year, one reviewer noted that it is a "pretty popular park in summer," suggesting that reservations are highly recommended during the peak season. This popularity indicates the quality and desirability of Armitage Park Campground among both locals and tourists. The same reviewer also mentioned that there will be "lots of day use activity in summer as well," which could mean a busier atmosphere during the warmer months. For local users looking for a quieter experience, the off-season (such as mid-October, as mentioned in one review) might be an ideal time to visit, potentially without the need for reservations and at a similar price point ($40/night as of mid-October, though prices may vary).
The efficient check-in process is also highlighted in one of the reviews as being "one of the smoothest" experienced. This speaks to the organized and professional management of the campground, ensuring a hassle-free start to your camping trip. The fact that a traveler was able to secure a site for two days in mid-October without a reservation suggests that availability might be better during the off-season, but it's always wise to check in advance, especially during peak times.
In terms of promotional information, the positive reviews themselves serve as strong endorsements for Armitage Park Campground. The mentions of a "beautiful wooded county park," "well spaced sites," excellent amenities like "private shower/restrooms" and "full RV hookups," the presence of a "dog park" and "river trail," and the "smooth, efficient check-in" all contribute to a compelling picture for potential visitors. For local users searching for "camping near me," these features, combined with the convenient location near Eugene, make Armitage Park Campground an attractive option for a weekend getaway or a longer stay.
To further promote the campground to local users, highlighting its year-round accessibility (if applicable, beyond the summer popularity), the proximity to Eugene's attractions and services, and the value for money (especially considering the included amenities) would be beneficial. Showcasing the natural beauty of the wooded setting and the riverfront trail through photographs and descriptions could also attract local nature enthusiasts. Any seasonal promotions or discounts for local residents could further incentivize stays at Armitage Park Campground.
In conclusion, Armitage Park Campground offers a fantastic "camping near me" experience for local users in the Eugene, Oregon area. Its beautiful wooded environment, spacious and well-equipped campsites with full RV hookups, private restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, dog park, and river trail provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The convenient location near I-5 offers easy access without excessive noise, making it a great base camp for exploring the region or simply enjoying a relaxing outdoor getaway. While it is a popular destination in the summer, the off-season may offer a quieter experience with potential for last-minute availability. Armitage Park Campground appears to be a well-managed and highly recommended option for anyone seeking quality camping in the Eugene vicinity.

Armitage Park Campground Reviews
I was passing through Eugene and was having difficulties locating a decent RV park that wasn’t in a trailer park. As a last ditch effort I checked Overlander and found a decent review for this one. It’s a beautiful wooded county park with approximately 30 well spaced sites. Amenities include private shower/restrooms laundry facility fire ring, full RV hookups EWS, table, dog park, and a trail along river. It’s close to the I-5 so convenient location without a lot of noise. I would definitely stay here again.
Feb 19, 2025 · Bonnie St JulienWe stayed here for two days in a travel trailer, without reservation in mid October ($40/night). One of the smoothest, efficient check-ins that I've experienced. A beautiful county park with a fair number of sites, spaced well enough. Amenities include private shower/restroom (X4), laundry facility (3 washers/dryers), fire ring, 30/50A full hookups at RV sites, table, dog park nearby, short trail along river. It is near I-5 and a gravel plant, so some noise is in the background. Great base camp to explore the area. Pretty popular park in summer so reservations are recommended. Also there will be lots of day use activity in summer as well. I would camp here again in the off-season.
Oct 24, 2024 · Flash RobsterThere are signs that state rules for people who take their dogs to this park. I have my dog here on a leash. Every dog I have seen today is off leash, and no, not in the fenced dog area. WHY have any rules posted at all?Only one portable toilet that I could find. 🤮Unkept grounds
Dec 05, 2024 · R ValentinoHad a very lovely night there was very quite. Campe host was very nice and friendly. Will be going back again thanks
Mar 05, 2025 · Stephanie MendenhallWe had an overnight here on our way out of Washington and into CA. I had read the reviews and saw something about homeless. There was none of that while we were here. The lady at the check in desk was very nice and informative. We didn't have an interaction with any camp hosts. we would stay here again and I would recommend friends here. very peaceful and stress free. Our site #30 was level. We could park, set up , and go see the area. Bathroom was clean. There were four rooms with a shower in each. We had our own shower in the camper, so we didn't use theirs. We did not need the laundry area on our overnight, but it was clean. Other campers were very friendly.
