Big Oak Campground Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Veneta, Oregon area, Big Oak Campground presents a unique and highly recommended option, particularly for those planning to attend the renowned Oregon Country Fair (OCF). Based on enthusiastic reviews from long-time visitors, Big Oak Campground offers a combination of convenient location, exceptional food, a welcoming community atmosphere, and helpful staff, making it a standout choice for both OCF attendees and potentially other campers seeking a friendly and accessible environment.
One of the primary draws of Big Oak Campground, as repeatedly emphasized by reviewers, is its prime location for foot travel to the Oregon Country Fair. This proximity eliminates the hassles of parking and transportation associated with attending the popular annual event, allowing campers to easily walk to and from the fairgrounds. For those planning to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of OCF, Big Oak Campground offers unparalleled convenience and accessibility.
Beyond its strategic location for the Oregon Country Fair, Big Oak Campground boasts another significant attraction: Ma's Kitchen. This on-site food vendor is highly acclaimed by campers, with one reviewer stating that it has "the best brisket in town." This suggests that campers at Big Oak can look forward to delicious and satisfying meals without even having to leave the campground. The presence of a well-regarded food option like Ma's Kitchen adds considerable value and convenience to the overall camping experience.
The atmosphere at Big Oak Campground is frequently described as being like a "family reunion every year." This indicates a strong sense of community among the campers, many of whom seem to be repeat visitors who have established connections over time. This welcoming and communal vibe can greatly enhance the camping experience, making it feel more like a gathering of friends than just a temporary stay at a campground. For those who appreciate a social and friendly camping environment, Big Oak Campground appears to be an excellent choice.
The staff at Big Oak Campground also consistently receive high praise in the reviews. They are described as "great," and one particularly heartwarming anecdote highlights their helpfulness and kindness. A disabled camper using a cane recounted an experience where two staff members, Cathleen and her mother, offered to carry things for them and did so with a smile. This level of personal care and willingness to assist campers, especially those with mobility challenges, speaks volumes about the campground's commitment to providing a positive and inclusive experience for all visitors.
While one long-time visitor mentioned that Big Oak Campground "USED to be a bit rough around the edges," they also noted that it has "always worked well for me and my friends." This suggests that while the campground might have had a more rustic feel in the past, it has consistently provided a functional and enjoyable camping experience for its patrons. The fact that this camper has been returning for years indicates a level of satisfaction and loyalty despite any previous imperfections.
The mention of "prime sites" still being available on the "2022 Fare open day" could be interpreted in a couple of ways. It might suggest that even during peak season for the Oregon Country Fair, there are still desirable camping spots to be found at Big Oak. Alternatively, it could be a slightly outdated comment, but it still implies that the campground offers well-regarded campsites that are worth securing.
In terms of promotional information, the strong endorsements from repeat visitors, the emphasis on the convenient location for the Oregon Country Fair, the availability of exceptional brisket at Ma's Kitchen, the welcoming family-like atmosphere, and the helpful and friendly staff all serve as compelling reasons to choose Big Oak Campground. The anecdote about the staff assisting a disabled camper highlights the campground's commitment to inclusivity and care. For those planning to attend OCF, the ease of foot travel is a significant promotional point. For others seeking a friendly and community-oriented camping experience with access to great food, Big Oak Campground also holds considerable appeal.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that offers more than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV, Big Oak Campground in Veneta, Oregon, provides a unique blend of convenience, community, and hospitality. Whether you are a dedicated Oregon Country Fair attendee looking for the most convenient and welcoming camping option, or simply someone who appreciates a friendly campground with excellent on-site food and helpful staff, Big Oak Campground is definitely worth considering. The positive experiences shared by long-term visitors speak to the enduring appeal and quality of this camping destination.
While specific amenities beyond Ma's Kitchen and the general camping sites are not detailed in the provided reviews, the strong emphasis on location, atmosphere, and staff suggests that the fundamental aspects of a positive camping experience are well-catered for at Big Oak Campground. To inquire about specific amenities, availability, or to make a reservation, you can visit the campground directly at 24372 Suttle Rd, Veneta, OR 97487, USA. Given its popularity, especially around the time of the Oregon Country Fair, early booking may be advisable to secure a spot at this highly recommended local campground.

Big Oak is a great location for foot travel into Oregon Country Fair, Ma's kitchen has the best brisket in town. It's like a family reunion every year. The staff are great, the location is great, it's all around the best place to camp for OCF!
Jul 08, 2023 · Tara Edwards*** 2022 Fare open day, still prime sites here.Been coming here for years, they USED to be a bit rough around the edges butt have always worked well for me and my friends.I'm disabled but get by with a cane, two (Cathleen & mom) OB Oak staff members offered to carry things for.And they did with a smile.

Jul 11, 2022 · julie thompsonThere's one other reviews on this site and it's irrelevant because they haven't even been open since 2019. There are ups and downs. By far one of the most hectic, busy camp grounds. Uoside is near the road, wide open space, a hose for water access, plenty of on-site private vendors and small trinkets for trade or sale, friendly folx foe the most part. Portapoties, and folx love to share. Downsides are when you pay for a spot marked by tags, and then they try squeezing extra folx right onto your little piece of grass. I don't mind sharing but it's nice to not pay for something and then have to share it. Seems like doubling up on money. Also if you're trying to sleep be aware that people party late so you'll want earplugs if you plan on sleeping. Also, prices go up and up every single year.
Jul 06, 2022 · Rebbie TillsNice camp hosts. Nice campground. We were there an hour and a half and my kayak was stolen. Won't be back.
