Triangle Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking "camping near me" in the Blachly, Oregon area, Triangle Lake Campground, located at 19190 OR-36, offers a unique and historically significant camping experience along the river. Based on the available reviews, this campground exudes a "rustic charm" and is known for its natural beauty and a particularly hospitable camp host. However, it's important to note a significant piece of information gleaned from the reviews: the campground is currently for sale, which might influence future operations and potential developments.
The environment surrounding Triangle Lake Campground appears to be deeply connected to the natural beauty of the area, particularly the river. One reviewer fondly recalls a memorable experience of sitting on a rock in the river with a dragonfly landing on their knee, highlighting the close proximity to and interaction with nature that the campground offers. The repeated mention of the river suggests it is a central feature of the campground and likely provides opportunities for relaxation and perhaps some water-based activities, although specifics are not detailed.
One long-time visitor shares a personal history with Triangle Lake Campground, recalling that it was "pretty dirty then and trashed by party goers" during their childhood camping experiences there. This provides context for the subsequent information about the current owner's efforts to improve and maintain the campground as a public space. The fact that the current owner, the reviewer's father, bought the campground with the intention of ensuring its continued public access underscores a commitment to preserving it for future generations of campers.
The endeavors of the current owner to "fix it up were beautifully accomplished" according to the reviewer. This suggests that significant improvements have been made to the campground over time, likely enhancing its appeal and functionality for visitors. However, the vision to sell it to county or federal park programs did not materialize, leading to its current status as being for sale.
The vision of the current owner for Triangle Lake Campground and the surrounding area is quite expansive. It includes the idea of a "Grand Canyon of Lake Creek recreation destination," connecting the campground with the Historic Power House and hiking trails down to a lower campground below rock slides. This grand vision aimed to provide year-round opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, kayaking, viewing salmon spawning, and outdoor education within the Triangle Lake area community. While these ambitious plans may not have fully come to fruition under the current ownership, they indicate the potential of the location and the owner's dedication to outdoor recreation.
One recent reviewer who visited with family and friends echoed the sentiment of a positive experience, describing the campground as having "rustic charm." This reinforces the idea of a more natural and perhaps less developed camping environment. A significant highlight of their stay was the "very sweet" camp host, who generously provided them with "lots of plums, grapes, apples and pears" and kept them "stocked on firewood." This exceptional hospitality from the camp host is a notable feature of Triangle Lake Campground, suggesting a personal touch and a welcoming atmosphere. The reviewer also mentions "primitive camping" and notes that "tipping is appreciated and deserved for host," indicating the nature of the facilities and the level of service provided.
Another reviewer's simple statement, "This place makes my heart sing ♥️," speaks volumes about the positive emotional connection some visitors feel with Triangle Lake Campground, likely due to its natural beauty and perhaps the overall atmosphere.
One reviewer with creative visions for the campground, presumably a potential buyer or someone passionate about its potential, imagined various enhancements such as glamping spots with classic trailers, teepees, and tiny homes, a masseuse by the river with harp music, a mini amphitheater for live music and outdoor movies, and the potential for nature weddings and Outdoor School opportunities. While these are aspirational ideas and not current features, they further highlight the inherent beauty and potential of the location for diverse outdoor and community-oriented activities.
In terms of services and features based on the reviews, Triangle Lake Campground offers a riverside camping experience characterized by "rustic charm" and "primitive camping." While specific amenities are not detailed, the provision of firewood by the camp host suggests that campfires are permitted and perhaps encouraged. The exceptional hospitality of the camp host, including the provision of fresh produce and firewood, is a significant service that enhances the visitor experience. The potential for river-related activities, though not specified, is implied by the campground's location.
Given that the campground is currently for sale, this could be considered a form of promotional information, albeit one that signals a potential change in ownership and future direction. For local users who might be interested in owning and operating a campground with a rich history and a beautiful natural setting, this presents a unique opportunity. The existing positive reviews and the vision for its future potential could be attractive to prospective buyers who wish to continue its legacy as a public camping space or develop it further according to their own vision.
For those simply looking for a place to camp in the short term, Triangle Lake Campground offers a "rustic charm" and a welcoming atmosphere, largely due to the exceptional camp host. The riverside location provides a scenic backdrop for a nature-based camping experience. However, potential campers should be aware that the "primitive camping" designation likely means fewer amenities compared to more developed campgrounds. It would be advisable to inquire about the specific facilities available when making a reservation.
To experience the "rustic charm" and the hospitality of the camp host at Triangle Lake Campground, you can visit the location at 19190 OR-36, Blachly, OR 97412, USA. While a phone number is not provided in the available information, interested parties might be able to find contact details through online searches or local directories. For those interested in the opportunity to own this campground with its rich history and potential, further inquiries would be necessary to understand the terms of sale and the owner's vision for its future.
