Based on the enthusiastic reviews from real customers, let's delve into what Arrow Head Motel & Campground has to offer for your local getaway.
The environment of Arrow Head Motel & Campground is significantly shaped by its proximity to a canal that leads from St. Stephens Dam. This waterfront location is a major draw, especially for those interested in fishing. One reviewer specifically mentioned that "Tons of nice catfish, river herring, and good sized shad" can be caught "by boat or from the bank," highlighting the accessible and fruitful fishing opportunities right at the campground. The presence of a canal suggests potential for other water-related activities as well, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. The overall impression is of a campground situated in a natural setting that is closely linked to the water, making it ideal for those who enjoy fishing and the ambiance of being near a waterway.
In terms of services and features, Arrow Head Motel & Campground offers more than just campsites, as indicated by its name including "Motel." Reviews mention "clean rooms" with "good beds, nice pillows, TV, fridge and microwave," suggesting that motel-style accommodations are available and well-maintained. For campers, the direct access to the canal for fishing is a key feature. Additionally, one reviewer noted that the owners sell "plenty of River Herring for sale during the season," which is a significant convenience for those looking to fish for this species. The campground also seems to offer basic necessities, with one review mentioning that they have "a few drinks and snacks on site" and "some fishing tackle." This suggests that while it might be a "little campground off the beaten path," it provides essential items for a comfortable stay and fishing needs. The friendly and helpful nature of the family that owns and operates the campground – Eugene, Tricia, and Dakota – is consistently praised, with one reviewer recounting how they "went out of their way" on several occasions, indicating a high level of personal service and hospitality.
Promotional information is primarily conveyed through the positive experiences shared by the reviewers. The strong recommendation to "anyone," especially those on "fishing trips," serves as a powerful endorsement. The repeated emphasis on the friendly owners and the great fishing opportunities acts as a significant draw. The mention of clean rooms with comfortable amenities also promotes the motel aspect of the property. The fact that a motorcycle rider, just passing through, found it a "nice little joint" and would "revisit again in the future" speaks to its appeal for various types of travelers, not just campers or fishermen. The availability of River Herring for sale during the season is also a unique promotional point for anglers.
For local users in the "camping near me" category, Arrow Head Motel & Campground stands out due to its exceptional hospitality, clean accommodations (both motel rooms and presumably campsites, though the latter are not detailed as extensively), and prime location on a canal known for good fishing. Whether you are an avid angler looking to catch catfish, river herring, or shad, or someone seeking a peaceful getaway with the option of motel-style comfort, this campground appears to cater well to both. The friendly owners seem to go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay, which can significantly enhance the overall experience.
To get a more detailed understanding of the camping facilities specifically (e.g., types of campsites, amenities available at the sites), local users might want to contact Arrow Head Motel & Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiring about the availability of campsites versus motel rooms, any specific amenities for campers, and the best times for fishing on the canal would be beneficial. Given the positive remarks about the owners, a direct conversation could also provide valuable insights into what makes this campground a recommended local destination.
In conclusion, Arrow Head Motel & Campground in St. Stephen, SC, offers a welcoming atmosphere with exceptionally friendly owners, clean accommodations, and a fantastic location for fishing on the canal leading from St. Stephens Dam. It seems to cater to both those looking for a traditional camping experience (implied by the name) and those preferring the comfort of motel rooms. For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience with a strong emphasis on hospitality and fishing, Arrow Head Motel & Campground comes highly recommended based on the enthusiastic feedback from past visitors.

Arrow Head Motel & Campground Reviews
The family that owns and operates this campground are some of the nicest folks that I have ever met. Eugene, Tricia, and Dakota went out of their way for me on several different occasions during my very first stay. Great place to stay right on the canal that leads from St. Stephens Dam. Tons of nice catfish, river herring, and good sized shad that can be caught by boat or from the bank Clean rooms, and plenty of River Herring for sale during the season.I would highly recommend Arrowhead Campground to anyone!
Mar 08, 2020 · Pat FireNice little campground off the beaten path. Clean room with good beds, nice pillows, TV, fridge and microwave. They have a few drinks and snacks on site from what I remember. Some fishing tackle.Just all around a nice little joint. Would recommend staying there...especially for fishing trips. I was on a 2 day motorcycle ride and decided to stop over here. Will revisit again in the future hopefully.
