One reviewer who stayed at spot 32 noted that it seemed "a little smaller than some of the others," but still provided "plenty of room" for a group of five using one tent. They did mention having to position their tent diagonally to fit it adequately on the tent pad, indicating that some sites might have defined tent pad sizes. Despite this minor observation, they found the site suitable for their needs.
The campground offers practical amenities such as "community water spigots and trash cans throughout the grounds," making it convenient for campers to access water and dispose of waste. The presence of "showers and bathrooms" is also noted, with the reviewer finding them to be "well maintained and clean." The compact nature of the upper loop is evident as the reviewer mentioned it "takes 5 minutes to walk around the entire loop," suggesting an intimate and easily navigable campground. They also appreciated that the "neighbors were fairly quiet," contributing to a peaceful camping experience. A significant advantage is the proximity to the lake, with the reviewer noting it was "a 2 minute walk to the lake." They particularly loved its remote location, noting, "It's way out there so you can disconnect from technology and just enjoy the peace of nature." This highlights the campground's environment as one conducive to relaxation and escaping the distractions of modern technology. Additionally, they mentioned a notable policy: "no breed restriction that we've noticed," as they have brought their pit bulls camping there four times. This can be an important consideration for pet owners when choosing a "camping near me" location.
A third reviewer shared a more varied experience. They mentioned trying "boondocking" (camping without hookups, often off-site) with their travel trailer, which "didn't work out." While they expressed uncertainty about returning to tent camping, they stated, "if we do, we'd come back," indicating a past positive experience with tent camping at this location. They also noted that their "Pics are old and new," suggesting that the campground has maintained its appeal over time.

Badin Lake Campground Upper Loop Reviews
Nice little campground. We were in spot 32 and it seemed a little smaller than some of the others, but the 5 of us had plenty of room. We used 1 tent and had to turn it diagonal so 95% of it would fit on the tent pad. There are community water spigots and trash cans throughout the grounds. They have showers and bathrooms. They seemed to be well maintained and clean. (It is a campground and not a five star resort) It takes 5 minutes to walk around the entire loop. Neighbors were fairly quiet. It was a 2 minute walk to the lake. Our site was clean when we arrived, including the fire pit and grill. Both worked well. Will definitely be returning.
Nov 18, 2024 · LetsDoIt TogetherThis campground has been our anniversary spot for the past 7 years. We really loved it. It's way out there so you can disconnect from technology and just enjoy the peace of nature. Also, no breed restriction that we've noticed. We have taken our pits here 4 times that we've camped. This year, we tried boondocking with our TT but it didn't work out. Idk if we'll ever go back to tent camping but if we do, we'd come back. Pics are old and new.
Sep 21, 2021 · K KBring earplugs. It seems generators running all night is acceptable behavior in this otherwise lovely camp site. Pro tip: disparate camping is free and just down the road, if spots are available you can avoid the generator crowd.
