Camp Arrowhead BSA Introduce
For local individuals and families in West Virginia and the surrounding region seeking a "camping near me" experience, Camp Arrowhead BSA, located at 506 Scout Camp Rd, Ona, WV 25545, offers a unique setting rooted in scouting traditions and outdoor activities. While primarily associated with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the positive reviews suggest that the well-maintained environment and range of activities could appeal to a broader audience looking for a well-organized and engaging outdoor experience.
The environment of Camp Arrowhead BSA, as described by a long-time camper, is characterized by natural beauty and opportunities for exploration. The mention of "wonderful hikes up old baldie" and "across portions of the Kanawha trace" indicates the presence of well-established hiking trails offering scenic views and a chance to immerse oneself in the local landscape. The inclusion of a lake where one can spend "hours fishing" highlights the presence of a water body suitable for recreational activities. This suggests that the campground is situated in a location with diverse natural features, catering to those who enjoy hiking, fishing, and simply being outdoors. The positive feedback regarding the Buckskin Council's efforts in "maintaining" the camp further underscores the commitment to preserving a pleasant and accessible environment for all visitors.
While the reviews do not explicitly detail all the services available at Camp Arrowhead BSA, they do provide insights into the types of experiences offered. The focus on scouting activities implies the presence of infrastructure and programs designed to support group camping and outdoor education. This could include designated campsites suitable for tents, communal areas for gatherings, and potentially facilities for cooking and sanitation. The helpfulness and kindness of the "scout leaders" mentioned in one review suggest that there is likely staff or volunteers on-site dedicated to ensuring a positive and supportive experience for campers, particularly those involved in scouting programs.
The features of Camp Arrowhead BSA appear to be centered around outdoor activities and fostering a connection with nature. The availability of hiking trails like the ascent to "old baldie" and access to the "Kanawha trace" provide opportunities for both leisurely strolls and more challenging hikes. The presence of a lake suitable for fishing is another significant feature, offering a relaxing and engaging activity for campers of all ages. The fact that the Buckskin Council is involved in "planning events" suggests that there may be organized activities or programs available, particularly for scouting groups, which could enhance the overall camping experience. The recurring theme of a positive and cherished experience indicates that the camp provides a welcoming and memorable environment for its visitors.
The positive reviews from individuals with long-standing connections to Camp Arrowhead BSA speak volumes about its enduring appeal. Oct 26, 2023 · Mary WrightWe've been camping for years with our troop at bent pine and we love it. We have enjoyed many wonderful hikes up old baldie, across portions of the Kanawha trace, and spent hours fishing in the lake. The Buckskin council do a great job with maintaining and planning events. We will always love and cherish Camp Arrowhead.
Oct 16, 2019 · Drew SmithI think it would be a good idea to add contact info to the website I went there when I was a boy scout 50 some years ago and was wondering who's allowed to go in now to fish or other activities
Jul 03, 2023 · Robert LewingdonThis is a great place. It's not perfect, but what Is? The facilities could use some updating but they aren't falling apart. Overall, I'd recommend this camp.
