Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday Introduce
For local residents in West Virginia and the Huntington area seeking "camping near me," Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday, located at 290 Fox Fire Rd, Milton, WV 25541, presents a potential option. Reachable by phone at (304) 743-5622 or +1 304-743-5622, this campground operates under the well-known KOA (Kampgrounds of America) brand. However, the limited available customer reviews offer starkly contrasting opinions, which necessitates a careful and objective consideration of what this campground might offer to local users.
The environment of Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday is described in contradictory terms by the two available reviews. One reviewer found the campground to be "beautiful" and noted that the "grounds" appeared to be "well kept." They specifically mentioned visiting during cooler months but observed indications of "lots of activities for warmer months," suggesting a potentially attractive setting with planned recreational opportunities. This positive perspective highlights the inherent potential of the location and the efforts made in maintaining the grounds. However, the other review paints a drastically different picture, describing the place as "overgrown with weeds" and indicating a lack of maintenance, allegedly for around ten years. This reviewer also noted a fire pit filled with "7 inches of muddy ash," further suggesting neglect. These conflicting accounts make it difficult to definitively characterize the current environment of the campground, emphasizing the need for local users to seek more recent and comprehensive information.
In terms of services, the limited reviews offer some insights, although again, with significant discrepancies. The positive review implies the presence of activities and amenities suitable for warmer weather, though these are not specified. The mention of "well kept grounds" suggests that basic maintenance might be occurring in some areas. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the condition of essential facilities, stating that "bathrooms toilets don't flush" and the "shower house smells" and is "totally nasty." This suggests potentially severe issues with the upkeep and functionality of hygiene facilities, which would be a major deterrent for most campers. The stark contrast between these two accounts underscores the uncertainty surrounding the current state of the campground's services. As a KOA Holiday location, one might typically expect a range of services, including RV hookups, restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and possibly recreational amenities like a pool or playground, but the conflicting review makes it impossible to confirm the current availability and condition of these services at Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday.
The features of Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday are also subject to conflicting reports. The positive review suggests the presence of "lots of activities for warmer months," which could include swimming, games, or organized events, typical of a KOA Holiday campground. The "beautiful location" itself could be considered a feature, offering a pleasant setting for a getaway. However, the negative review highlights the age and disrepair of everything, including a unusable fire pit. The issues with non-flushing toilets and a foul-smelling shower house point to a severe lack of upkeep, which would negate any potentially positive features. The strong condemnation of the campground as a "rip off" further suggests that the features and services provided may not align with the price charged. Local users should be wary of these discrepancies and attempt to gather more information regarding the current features and their condition before making a decision.
The significant divergence between the two available reviews makes it challenging to provide an objective summary of the environment, services, and features of Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday. One reviewer had a positive experience, appreciating the beauty and potential activities, while the other described a poorly maintained and unpleasant facility. This discrepancy could be due to the timing of the reviews, the specific areas of the campground experienced, or differing expectations of the reviewers. It is crucial for local users considering this "camping near me" option to recognize this conflict in feedback and seek more recent and a greater number of reviews to gain a more reliable understanding of the current state of the campground.
Currently, there is no explicit promotional information available in the provided reviews. As a KOA Holiday campground, it is possible that they offer various discounts, loyalty programs, or seasonal specials. Local users should check the official KOA website or contact Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday directly to inquire about any current promotions or deals that might be available. Given the strongly negative review, it would be particularly important to inquire about the current condition of the facilities and grounds before considering any promotional offers.
In conclusion, Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday in Milton, WV, presents a complex picture for local users seeking "camping near me." While one review suggests a beautiful campground with potential activities and well-kept grounds, the other describes a severely neglected facility with non-functional and unsanitary amenities. This stark contrast in feedback necessitates caution and further investigation by potential visitors. Local users are strongly advised to seek more recent reviews from multiple sources or even consider a brief visit to the campground to assess the current conditions firsthand before making a booking. The reputation of the KOA brand might typically imply a certain standard of quality, but the strongly negative review indicates that this particular location may not currently meet those expectations. Thorough research is essential to make an informed decision about whether Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday is a suitable "camping near me" option.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday Reviews
This place has a possibility of being a really nice place except no one’s done any work here in probably I’m gonna guess 10 years. The place is overgrown with weeds. Our little fire pit had 7 inches of muddy ash.Everything‘s old, bathrooms toilets don’t flush, shower house smells. Just totally nasty, don’t bother. I’d stay in a parking lot before I stayed at this place again! What a rip off!!
Apr 29, 2025 · Renee NietoBeautiful campground! Maintained very well! We visited during cooler months, but there appears to be lots of activities for warmer months. We still enjoyed the beautiful location and exploring all the well kept grounds.
Apr 02, 2025 · Laura HoganUPDATE: Staff were as gracious and kind in person as they were on the phone. The campsite was great. Very affordable and the grounds were nice. Everything was great, but the noise. It is beside an interstate. The truck noise was tough to ignore and definitely affected our stay. Otherwise there isn’t a thing I’d change about the site.I haven't even stayed yet and I am already so impressed! The individuals I have spoken with to get my reservation have been the nicest of any I have dealt with for a booking. Super friendly, happily answer any questions and so accommodating. Truly the nicest people I’ve dealt with at a business. Cannot wait to get to the campground.
Nov 05, 2024 · Red WVStayed 2 nights. Friendly staff, premium sites are nice and a little farther away from the highway. Very peaceful with pretty ponds. Morning of departure had an extreme sewer smell that could have been something temporary so overall, a nice campground to stay.
Nov 11, 2024 · Gwen ShannonFriendly staff and gorgeous fall scenery.. Perfectly evel campsites and space between your fellow camper. Dog friendly with a dog park. There's also a large open dog walking area as well.Catch and release fishing, cabins, a beach and swings to relax in water side. The only negative for me personally, was the amount of road noise. It did quiet down some after midnight but I did wake up several times.Unfortunately, the previous camper left me a mess of used marshmallow roasting sticks, half eaten suckers and trash throughout the campsite, which should have been cleaned up before the next camper came in.If you're looking for an overnight spot this is fine.
