The presence of a "nice little creek" provides opportunities for swimming for both humans and their canine companions, suggesting a pet-friendly environment where dogs can enjoy some off-leash freedom, although this might be more prevalent when the campground is less crowded. The sound of a creek directly behind some campsites adds to the natural and relaxing ambiance.

For families with children, the presence of a "playground and other things for the kids to do" makes Ole Henry's a family-friendly destination. While specific details about these amenities are not provided, the mention indicates that there are activities available to keep younger campers entertained.
While internet access is not included in the base price, it is available for a fee of $6. The process of getting connected is made easy by the staff, with one reviewer mentioning that a staff member personally came to their site to program the code into their TV, ensuring the internet "worked great." This level of service in assisting with technical aspects is another example of the campground's commitment to guest satisfaction.
Promotional information is evident in the consistently positive reviews highlighting the affordability ($29.99 plus tax for a full hookup site), the quality of the amenities (nice cabins, general store with kitchen and delivery), the natural features (swimming creek), and the exceptional hospitality. The fact that visitors express a strong desire to return ("We will definitely stay again!") and highly recommend the retreat speaks volumes about its appeal and value. We were staying in WV on our property in our trailer and the weather turned very cold and snowy. Called ole Henry’s praying they had availability. Vickie was so courteous and accommodating. They had availability and took us in with no problems. The cabin was very nice and inviting. Greatly enjoyed the hot shower and warm bed. Would recommend 100%!! We will definitely stay again! Thank you so much for the hospitality!!
Jan 04, 2025 · Lisa BoyerFirst trip to Ole Henry's. Been camping over most the country and this is one of the cutest campgrounds. Host Vickie was great and welcoming. Had several people that were also helpful.Very nice general store that had a kitchen. Pizza and sandwiches. Our pizza was $16 and was delicious. And they delivered it to us in their golf cart. The store had a patio with about a dozen tables. I assume they get a good restaurant crowd. On our trip, the site was pretty empty bc of the heat. Our dog was able to run around and enjoy himself off the leash (I'm sure this would be different if there were more campers).Nice little creek where we could swim, and the dog could swim too.We don't have young kids but there is a playground and other things for the kids to do.Had plenty of room.Had full hookup.Had nice cabins to rent. There was a creek directly behind our campsite.Campsite was only 29.99 plus tax.No Internet but u could pay $6 for it. The girl actually came down and programmed the code into our TV for us. Internet worked great.Very friendly atmosphere. Would have stayed a few more days but had to hit the roadIt's definitely off the beaten path but worth the drive. It's about 25 minutes from a small town called Hamlin, WV.Highly recommend.Oh and there is a nice little American legion in Hamlin. Commander and bartender was named Perry, a very nice guy
Jun 30, 2024 · Dave BrossartMe and my daughter just stayed a couple nights in a cabin. They were cute, small little cabins that didn’t have a lot of frills but had power, ac and running water with bathroom.. stove, microwave and refrigerator. I was impressed by how clean everything was inside. It was just right for my daughter and I. The grass was well taken care of and plenty of room for kids to run and play. There was a couple playgrounds and a small stream, plenty to keep the kids busy. One of the owners, Jamie, delivered our firewood and was super friendly and helpful. The other owner that checked us in, Vicky I think was her name, was also friendly and easy to talk to. Everyone seemed to want to help us have a good stay. Camp is only a couple miles from the lake where we caught lots of fish. My daughter was especially in love with “blackie” the pony. Every single evening, around dark, he’d come to visit. Super friendly and we would love on him and he eat it up. Only thing was, you had to hide your food from him! 😂 He even laid down by our campfire two nights in a row with us. The road was a little muddy. I only noticed because we were in a mustang, but it had been raining a lot. No where near a deal breaker. But the area around the cabins was well taken care of. No mud or trash. At night we’d set out roasting marshmallows and listen to the hoot owls. Very relaxing. There’s a restaurant on site and a little store with a bit of everything from fishing supplies to soap. I believe they even sold fishing license. There were a few ATVs that kept running back and forth but wasn’t going fast. The camp ground is close to the Hatfield and McCoy trails so that’s to be expected from campers. Overall great experience and we’ll be going back!
Jun 18, 2020 · Tom HagerWild and wonderful. Ole Henry's is a diamond in the rough and it keeps getting better! We have been coming here since they opened and have loved every minute of it! Vicky is super chill and extremely hard working to accommodate anything you and your family might need. From pizza, to kids toys, playground upgrades, firewood, warm showers, and general hospitality, she and her crew make things happen. We gathered for Thanksgiving, football, and family. When we were packing up a Rainbow appeared over the new A frame village! We will be back for years to come.
Nov 30, 2022 · Richard RoeMy family from Michigan truly enjoyed our time at Ole Henry’s this Thanksgiving. Host Vicky is wonderful. My 5 children, spouses and 11 grandchildren stayed in the A frames. They are clean and provide heat, coffee makers, microwave and bedding. It is an awesome chance to relax and enjoy the family and the surrounding area. We were also able to enjoy football games and a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner provided by host Vicky. This will be a family tradition in the future.
