Banner Ridge Yurt Introduce
For local adventurers seeking a unique "camping near me" experience, consider Banner Ridge Yurt, located near Lowman, Idaho. Situated in a backcountry setting at Lowman, ID 83637, USA, this yurt offers a cozy and secluded retreat, distinct from traditional campgrounds. If you're looking for something beyond the typical tent site, Banner Ridge Yurt provides a comfortable and memorable way to connect with nature.
Banner Ridge Yurt has garnered positive feedback from visitors who appreciate its unique charm and accessibility. One reviewer noted that in the context of a backcountry yurt, the concept of "service" is a bit different, as upkeep is often a shared responsibility among users. However, this visitor highlighted that during their stay, the yurt was clean and ready, and they ensured to leave it in the same condition. This reflects a community-oriented aspect of yurt stays, emphasizing a "leave no trace" ethic.
Compared to other yurts in the Idaho City area, one guest mentioned that Banner Ridge Yurt is "possibly my favorite." This preference wasn't necessarily due to expansive views, but rather the "cuddly, secluded feeling" the location provided. This suggests that Banner Ridge Yurt is ideal for those seeking a more private and intimate connection with the surroundings, away from more exposed or view-centric locations. The reviewer also appreciated the presence of "fun short runs" nearby, suitable for hiking and skiing, indicating that the area offers opportunities for outdoor activities.
Another long-time user of Banner Ridge Yurt, with nearly 25 years of experience with it, describes it as "always amazing." This speaks to the consistent quality and appeal of the yurt over time. The easy access to the yurt is a significant advantage, making it less strenuous to reach compared to some other backcountry locations. The yurt is also described as "well outfitted," suggesting that it comes equipped with essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Notably, the yurt and the surrounding trees were well-preserved during the Pioneer Fire, indicating the resilience and care taken with the area.
A practical feature mentioned by the long-time user is the availability of "plenty of split firewood, and logs for the fire," which is crucial for heating the yurt and enjoying a cozy atmosphere, especially during colder months. Additionally, there is a "water tank for wash water," providing a basic amenity for hygiene. The user did express a slight disappointment regarding changes to the trails to the south due to the fire, which might be a consideration for those specifically interested in exploring that particular area.
Banner Ridge Yurt offers a different kind of "camping near me" experience. Instead of pitching a tent, you'll be staying in a sturdy, round structure that provides more protection from the elements and often includes basic furniture like beds or sleeping platforms, and a wood stove for heating. The emphasis here is on a comfortable backcountry experience without the need to bring all your own shelter.
The secluded nature of the yurt suggests a quieter and more private getaway, perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in a more natural setting. The proximity to hiking and skiing opportunities further enhances its appeal for outdoor enthusiasts. The mention of it being a favorite among those who have stayed in multiple yurts in the region speaks volumes about its unique qualities.

Banner Ridge Yurt Reviews
It's silly to have a review for "service" for a backcountry Yurt. Everything there is typically maintained by the last person who was there before you, and so on. We were there the weekend of March 1, and everything was clean and ready and that's how we left it.We've done 4 different yurts in the Idaho City area, and this is possibly my favorite. I don't need views, I like the cuddly, secluded feeling it gave us, with some fun short runs we could hike and ski nearby. I added some drone shots to the photo bank since it seemed like that was what it was missing. Enjoy this Yurt! Leave no trace!
Apr 16, 2025 · Pauly W.Banner Ridge yurt is always amazing. Easy access, well outfitted, and was well preserved along with nearby trees during the pioneer fire, etc. Its the classic yurt which we have been using for almost 25 years! Plenty of split firewood, and logs for the fire. And a water tank for wash water. I only wish the trails to the south weren't so changed by the fire.
