For local users browsing "camping near me," this campground provides easy access to riverside beauty and a relaxing atmosphere.
Deadwood Campground is described by visitors as a "pretty good" and "nice little campground," ideal for those seeking a brief but refreshing outdoor experience. While situated next to the road, reviewers note that traffic significantly decreases around 9 PM, allowing for a more peaceful night's sleep. This accessibility makes it a convenient option for spontaneous camping trips.
The campground features a limited number of sites, approximately six in total, with two of these being double sites. This smaller size contributes to a more intimate and less crowded camping environment. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy the natural surroundings without the hustle and bustle of larger campgrounds.
One of the key features of Deadwood Campground is its stunning location alongside two rivers. The Deadwood River flows along the back of the campground, offering a tranquil backdrop and the soothing sounds of flowing water. Just across the street lies the Payette River, providing additional scenic views and recreational opportunities. For those interested in angling, the area is noted to have "pretty fair fishing" in these rivers.
Reviewers have highlighted the enjoyment of simply relaxing by the river. Imagine spending time sitting on a big rock, taking in the sights and sounds of the Deadwood River, and watching river raft groups and kayakers as they launch off down the Payette River across the road. This provides a unique and entertaining aspect to your camping experience.
In terms of facilities, Deadwood Campground offers a clean outhouse. However, one visitor mentioned that toilet paper can sometimes be scarce due to river rafters using it before launching across the street. It might be wise to bring your own supply to ensure your comfort.
A significant positive aspect mentioned by a camper is that the bathroom is "always clean," which is a notable convenience. Additionally, the ability to have a campfire adds to the traditional camping experience, perfect for cooking outdoors and gathering around in the evenings.
Beyond the immediate campground, its location offers proximity to other attractions. One reviewer specifically mentioned that Deadwood Campground is a "short drive to hot springs," providing an opportunity to further enhance your getaway with a relaxing soak in natural hot springs.

Deadwood Campground Reviews
Pretty good campground. I think there are only about 6 sites, two of which are doubles. It's right next to the road, but traffic really tapers off to nothing around 9 PM. The outhouse rarely has TP because all of the river rafters that put in across the street use it before launching. The Deadwood River runs along the back of the camp and the Payette River is right across the street. Pretty fair fishing.
Aug 31, 2022 · John GalbanThis is a nice little campground for quick getaways. I can have a campfire, the bathroom is always clean. You are right next to the river and a short drive to hot springs. I especially like going down to the river, sitting on a big rock there enjoying the river and the trees, and watching river raft groups and kayakers launching off down the river.
Aug 22, 2021 · Ms WrightGreat place for a 1-2 night camping spot. One advantage to this spot is that it is right by the highway but that also means that night and day you can hear and see the cars, but if something goes wrong its nice to know that grabbing a ride to town is easy. There is a spot down by the river that you can only barely see the road and the sound of the river blocks any other sound which is very nice. There is also hiking here which is fun to do
Jun 07, 2016 · Gage CoprivnicarGreat small campground that fills up fast. The trail is easy-moderate in difficulty. The campground has vault toilets and spigot water available. Also, if you like watching rafting companies launch with wide-eyed customers, that's right across the road. :)
Apr 21, 2020 · Brad RaburnDefinitely a great campground, we were the only ones there and it was quiet, even being close to the road, the river drowned out any noise from the road. We had our choice between this one and the one a mile further up the road, definitely glad we stayed here!
