Blackwater River State Park Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Holt, Florida area and those in surrounding regions seeking a natural and well-maintained "camping near me" experience, Blackwater River State Park Campground, located at 7720 Deaton Bridge Rd, Holt, FL 32564, USA, offers an appealing option. Situated within the scenic Blackwater River State Park, this campground provides a tranquil escape into a beautiful woodsy environment with access to the pristine Blackwater River.
The environment of Blackwater River State Park Campground is consistently described as "woodsy and quiet," offering a serene natural setting that many campers appreciate. The park itself is known for its diverse ecosystems, including pine flatwoods, cypress swamps, and the sandy banks of the Blackwater River. This creates a rich environment for wildlife viewing and enjoying the natural beauty of Northwest Florida. Local users looking to immerse themselves in nature will find the park's environment to be a significant draw.
Based on customer reviews, the services and facilities at Blackwater River State Park Campground are generally well-regarded. One reviewer praised the rangers and hosts for their friendliness and the wonderful job they do maintaining the park, facilities, and campsites. This suggests a commitment to providing a clean and welcoming environment for visitors. The availability of online reservations and proactive communication of necessary information before arrival adds to the convenience for local users planning a camping trip.
The campsites themselves are described as being "all different" yet consistently level and featuring a gravel base. Each site is equipped with essential amenities, including a picnic table, a grill for cooking, a fire pit for campfires, and even a clothesline – thoughtful additions that enhance the camping experience. The presence of trash pickup at each site every morning is a notable convenience, contributing to the cleanliness of the campground and the ease of the stay for campers.
Safety and security are also highlighted in the reviews. The coded entrance to the park provides an added sense of security, which can be particularly reassuring for families and solo campers. This feature helps manage access to the campground and contributes to a more controlled environment.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Blackwater River State Park Campground offers a variety of features. The roads within the park are described as easy to bike ride on, providing a relaxed way to explore the campground and its surroundings. The presence of "mutt mitt stations" located around the campground and park further supports the pet-friendly environment by encouraging responsible pet ownership.
The clear marking of everything within the park is another positive feature mentioned by a reviewer, making it easy for visitors to navigate and find their way around the campground and trails. This attention to detail contributes to a stress-free and enjoyable experience for local users exploring the park.
However, it is important to present an objective view, and one review did highlight a negative experience with a specific campground host. This reviewer described the host as "extremely rude" and cited an uncomfortable interaction regarding the use of a mobility scooter on boardwalks. While this appears to be an isolated incident and employees reportedly attributed it to the host having a bad day, it serves as a reminder that individual experiences can vary. The reviewer's disappointment was significant enough to make them hesitant to return if the same host is present, despite otherwise loving the campground's woodsy and quiet atmosphere.
Despite this negative interaction, the overall sentiment from at least one other reviewer is overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing the well-maintained facilities and the enjoyable natural environment. Local users should weigh these different perspectives when considering a visit to Blackwater River State Park Campground.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive feedback regarding the well-maintained facilities, the variety of campsite amenities (picnic table, grill, fire pit, clothesline), the pet-friendly environment with mutt mitt stations, and the coded entrance for added security can be seen as implicit benefits that might attract local users. The ease of online reservation and the proactive communication from the park also add value to the overall experience.
Blackwater River State Park itself offers additional features beyond the campground, such as access to the Blackwater River for swimming, fishing, and paddling. The sandy white beaches along the river are a unique attraction of this park. Local users interested in water-based activities will find this to be a significant feature complementing the camping experience.
In conclusion, Blackwater River State Park Campground appears to be a well-regarded "camping near me" destination for local users in the Holt, Florida area. It offers a beautiful woodsy environment, well-maintained campsites with essential amenities, pet-friendly trails, and access to the Blackwater River for recreation. The coded entrance provides an added sense of security, and the ease of online reservation enhances the planning process. While one review highlighted a negative interaction with a specific host, the overall positive feedback emphasizes the quality of the park and its facilities. Local users seeking a natural and enjoyable camping experience with opportunities for hiking, biking, and river activities should consider Blackwater River State Park Campground as a prime option.
For local residents of Northwest Florida, Blackwater River State Park Campground offers a convenient escape into a pristine natural environment. Its well-equipped campsites and pet-friendly policies make it suitable for families and individuals alike. Blackwater River State Park Campground Reviews
We Love this State Park! The rangers and hosts are friendly and do a wonderful job maintaining the Park, facilities and the campsites. The sites are all different, level with gravel-all with a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and clothes line. It’s easy to reserve online, & they keep you informed with the information you need, before arriving. The coded entrance also gives an added sense of safety. The roads are easy to bike ride on, and the trails are fun for us, & our dogs! There are mutt mitt stations located around the campground and park. Everything is well marked. Oh yes, there is also trash pick up at your site, every morning!
Dec 28, 2024 · LoriLoved the campground. Had the worst campground host ever. Tommy, was extremely rude, threatened us because my husband uses a mobility scooter and he was told he wasn't allowed on the boardwalks, because they are for feet and he was reporting us to the ranger. He made us feel very uncomfortable for the rest of our stay. Employees told us he was just having a bad day, because he had to remove a homeless man, and someone that snuck in. That wasn't our fault, and he shouldn't take it out on paying disabled people. He never apologized or made any attempt too.The campground was just what we wanted woodsy and quiet, but unfortunately we won't return if he is the host.

Feb 04, 2025 · Joseph BattagliaWell maintained campground with full hook ups, 30 amp electric. Pads are level, gravel. Two loops with shower house between them. Our AT&T cell service was very weak. Lot of hiking trails, river winds through the area.
