Bear Lake Camp Ground

Bear Lake Rd, Milton, FL 32570, USA

4.0
It's a campground, not a hotel, so I'm not sure why the review is asking about rooms and service. It's a nice campground with primitive campsites for tents and RV sites with power and water hookups, and private bathrooms with showers. The lake allows fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and motorboats. Nice hiking trails have benches along the way. There is also a day-use area.We will definitely stay again. - Sabrina Hill

Bear Lake Camp Ground Introduce

For local residents seeking a natural "camping near me" experience in the Milton, Florida area, Bear Lake Campground, situated on Bear Lake Rd, Milton, FL 32570, USA, offers a variety of outdoor activities and camping options. You can reach them at (850) 957-5700 or their mobile number +1 850-957-5700 to inquire about reservations and the amenities available at this location.

According to visitor feedback, Bear Lake Campground provides a traditional camping experience with a range of facilities catering to different preferences. One reviewer noted that it is "a nice campground with primitive campsites for tents and RV sites with power and water hookups, and private bathrooms with showers." This indicates that whether you prefer a more rustic tent camping experience or the convenience of RV hookups, Bear Lake Campground has options. The availability of private bathrooms with showers is a significant amenity that many campers appreciate, offering a more comfortable and self-contained experience compared to communal facilities.

The natural environment of Bear Lake is a key feature of this campground. The lake itself is suitable for various water activities, including "fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and motorboats." This makes it an attractive destination for those who enjoy being on the water. Whether you're looking to fish, paddle, or simply enjoy a boat ride, Bear Lake offers opportunities for recreation. Additionally, the presence of "nice hiking trails" with benches along the way suggests that the area is also ideal for those who enjoy exploring on foot and taking in the natural scenery. The mention of a "day-use area" implies that even those not camping overnight can come and enjoy the facilities and the lake.

One reviewer expressed a positive intention to return, stating, "We will definitely stay again," which speaks to a generally satisfactory experience at the campground.

However, another visitor shared a less positive experience related to campground management and the behavior of other guests during their stay in February. They described a "huge, loud, drunk, obnoxious party of 50++ people" that disrupted the peace of other campers for over six hours. This large group was reportedly not in the designated event pavilion but occupying the lake area, which the reviewer noted overlaps with the camping spots. The reviewer's attempt to address the situation with the front desk resulted in being told it was a "celebration of life," which, while understandable, did not resolve the disruption to other campers seeking a "serene atmosphere."

The same reviewer also raised concerns about safety on the hiking trails, mentioning "4-6 different motorists would be ZOOMING PAST US on electric bikes and electric scooters and skateboards repeatedly, dangerously almost running over our senior dog." Despite reporting this to the front desk, the behavior apparently continued. The response from the front desk indicated that park rangers were occupied with a brush fire, suggesting a potential limitation in addressing other issues promptly.

This detailed, albeit critical, review concludes with the sentiment that "it’s not the worse campground but clearly they have some management issues," particularly concerning the handling of disruptive guests and the enforcement of rules regarding motorized vehicles on hiking trails. The reviewer's expectation was to "hike and enjoy nature," but their experience was marred by noise and safety concerns.

Considering these two perspectives, Bear Lake Campground offers a natural setting with a lake for boating and fishing, hiking trails, and various camping options, including RV sites with hookups and tent sites, along with private bathrooms. Many visitors may find it to be a pleasant place for a getaway. However, potential visitors should also be aware that, based on one detailed account, there can be issues related to noise from other groups and the enforcement of rules regarding motorized vehicles in pedestrian areas, which may impact the peaceful enjoyment of the natural environment.

For local users looking for "camping near me," Bear Lake Campground provides:

  • Primitive tent campsites.
  • RV sites with power and water hookups.
  • Private bathrooms with showers.
  • A lake suitable for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and motorboats.
  • Hiking trails with benches.
  • A day-use area.

However, potential campers should also consider the possibility of encountering disruptive behavior from other guests and the potential for motorized vehicles on hiking trails, as reported by one reviewer. It would be prudent to inquire with the campground management about their policies regarding noise, guest conduct, and the use of motorized vehicles in non-designated areas when making a reservation. Despite the mixed feedback, the natural attractions of Bear Lake and the variety of camping options make Bear Lake Campground a place worth considering for those seeking a nature-oriented "camping near me" in the Milton area.
