Based on the positive customer reviews, this campground provides a peaceful environment, clean amenities, and access to a beautiful lake and hiking trails. Let's delve into the specifics that make Karick Lake South Campground a potentially ideal choice for your next local camping adventure.
The environment of Karick Lake South Campground is clearly a major draw. Reviewers consistently mention the beauty of the lake and the overall peaceful atmosphere. One visitor described it as "very peaceful, and the lake was beautiful." This suggests a tranquil setting where campers can relax and enjoy the natural scenery. Lakeside camping often provides opportunities for activities such as fishing (though not explicitly mentioned here), kayaking or canoeing (also not mentioned), and simply enjoying the water views. The presence of a beautiful lake enhances the overall camping experience, offering a scenic backdrop for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment.
The services and facilities at Karick Lake South Campground have also received positive feedback. One reviewer noted that "the place was clean, the bathrooms had good water pressure, and it was very clean as well." Clean and functional restrooms are a significant aspect of any campground, contributing to the comfort and satisfaction of campers. Good water pressure in the bathrooms is an added convenience. The fact that the campground was described as "freshly paved" suggests that the infrastructure is well-maintained, potentially making it easier to navigate the campground, especially for RVs and those carrying camping gear.
The camp host at Karick Lake South Campground seems to go above and beyond to create a welcoming atmosphere. One reviewer recounted how the host "had put candy eggs as a welcome on all the picnic tables" during Easter weekend, describing it as "a nice gesture." Such thoughtful touches can significantly enhance a camper's experience and create a positive impression of the campground's hospitality.
Features of Karick Lake South Campground include hiking trails. One reviewer mentioned, "There are trails to walk. We only did the short one, but there's one that is 4 miles." This is a significant feature for those who enjoy hiking and exploring the natural surroundings while "camping near me." The availability of both shorter and longer trails caters to different fitness levels and preferences, offering opportunities for leisurely strolls or more challenging hikes.
The campground also seems to be welcoming to various types of campers. One review noted, "It's definitely geared toward campers, but tents can work." This suggests that while the campground might have facilities catering more towards RVs or general camping setups, tent campers can also find suitable spots. This versatility makes it an attractive option for a broader range of local users searching for "camping near me," whether they prefer tent camping or RVing.
The friendly nature of the campground management is another positive aspect highlighted in the reviews. One reviewer mentioned that "The adults in charge of the campground we stayed at were very friendly and used to be part of scouts." This connection to scouting might imply a well-organized and community-oriented atmosphere. Friendly and approachable campground staff can greatly enhance a visitor's stay, providing assistance and creating a welcoming environment.
It is important to note one limitation mentioned by a reviewer: "Would definitely go again, even though you can't swim in the water." This indicates that while Karick Lake is beautiful and a central feature of the campground, swimming in it is not permitted. Local users searching for "camping near me" with swimming opportunities should take this into account. However, the beauty of the lake can still be enjoyed through other means, such as scenic views and potentially fishing or boating if allowed (though these aren't confirmed in the reviews).
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive feedback regarding cleanliness, the welcoming camp host, and the beautiful lake and trails could be seen as organic promotion. For local users looking for "camping near me," these aspects, combined with the peaceful atmosphere, make Karick Lake South Campground a compelling option. To learn about any specific promotions, such as off-season rates or group discounts, interested individuals might need to contact the campground directly through local channels or online if contact information is available elsewhere.
In summary, Karick Lake South Campground in Baker, FL, offers a peaceful and clean camping experience by a beautiful lake, complete with hiking trails. The friendly camp host adds a personal touch, and the campground accommodates both campers and tents. While swimming in the lake is not allowed, the overall environment and amenities make it a highly recommended "camping near me" destination for those in the area. The positive reviews highlight its cleanliness, the beauty of the surroundings, and the welcoming atmosphere, making it a strong contender for your next local camping trip.

We went for the first time Easter weekend. The camp host had put candy eggs as a welcome on all the picnic tables. I thought that was a nice gesture. The place was clean, the bathrooms had good water pressure, and it was very clean as well. It was very peaceful, and the lake was beautiful. We will definitely be back.

Mar 09, 2025 · Tessa ThompsonWe are having a great time. Only 15 sites have plenty if room and view of lake. Watching rhe paired eagles is my favorite activity. We haven't fished but we still have a couple of days to go. We come with friends for thanksgiving,, this is our 2nd year. Can't say enough good things about camp hosts. Phone reception good.
Nov 24, 2023 · Paula BankesterA clean functional campground. Great hiking trails. Sites are close together. Many people fish here. Camp hosts were great, and very responsive.
Jun 25, 2024 · Tony DeVillierVery quiet and peaceful small campground. Picturesque surroundings and nicely spaced-out sites. Bathrooms are clean, albeit not well-ventilated, but still very clean. Would definitely come back.
