Awesome campground. A blend of rural beauty in natural surroundings and manicured conveniences that are pet friendly. Enjoy bird songs, breezes, calming water and the beauty of a wonderful lake and clean surroundings. It’s apparent the camp hosts enjoy what they do.
Jun 25, 2024 · Tony DeVillierHurricane Lake is located in the Blackwater River State Forest near the border in the Florida panhandle. The lake is very isolated and beautiful. There are two campgrounds located around the lake the North and the South. The North has electric, water, picnic tables and fire rings. The sites were paved, clean but not super private. There were clean restrooms with showers and the campground host was wonderful. We did not have any cell service, which is great unless you are worried about weather! This is probably the best sleep I've ever had, it was incredibly quite! We also ended up totally enjoying our new neighbors in the next campsite and wish we could have stayed longer! Great place to watch the sunset. They do have a boat launch and a cleaning station. We saw lots of birds and deer and wildflowers. I definitely recommend staying but pack everything you need because there is no town or store close to you.
Apr 11, 2021 · Andrea SparksWe have camped all around Blackwater River State Forest and North Hurricane Lake campground is up there in terms of views of the water, site lay out, peace and quiet. One disappointment was the fishing dock was closed due to damage. Who knows how long this will take to fix...The sites are all paved with fir rings and picnic tables. On the North side of the lake the sites have water and electricity. South side is primitive. No Sewer at either but both have a dump point. We tried shore fishing a few times with not even a bite. No fish over 2 inches seen, but a few bigger fish were spotted in the run-off. Check that out. There are some walking trails that link the two campgrounds and they have nicely positioned seating around to view sunsets and sunrise or just to chill anytime.
Feb 20, 2022 · James LucySite #1 is where we stayed, late March 2025. They are creating a couple more sites right next to site #1. It will be nice once complete, but messy and lots of little trip hazards while they are working on it. So I wouldn't stay in site 1 again until those are finished.
Mar 29, 2025 · Sarah COne of our favorite campgrounds, small and intimate full of wildlife. There are some great pull through sites. If you are camping with friends I suggest getting a pull through and some adjacent sites it makes for great space for activities. Bath house is quick walk from all the sites(my only complaint was the baths/restrooms weren't the cleanest). Trash bin is also a quick walk. Just a little over an hr drive from Pensacola and 15 min from Crestview. It also has boat rampant fish cleaning station. Plenty of walking trails to explore. Water quality is great w e don't use bottled water when we are here.
