You can contact them at (610) 756-6366 or +1 610-756-6366. Reviews from past visitors offer a glimpse into the campground's environment and atmosphere, highlighting both its positive aspects and recent changes that potential local users should be aware of when considering it for their "camping near me" needs.
A Campground with a History and Scenic Layout:
Blue Rocks Family Campground has been a destination for families for many years, with one reviewer mentioning they have been visiting since they were under ten years old and stayed as recently as April 18-21, 2025. This long-standing history suggests a place that has traditionally offered a positive camping experience and built a loyal customer base within the local community. Another reviewer describes it as a "fantastic family campground with a beautiful view and layout," indicating that the physical setting of the campground is aesthetically pleasing and well-designed. The mention of a "beautiful view" implies that the location offers scenic vistas of the surrounding Berks County landscape, likely contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable environment for campers seeking a natural escape close to home. The layout being well-regarded suggests that the campsites are thoughtfully arranged, perhaps offering a good balance of privacy and access to shared amenities, enhancing the overall camping experience for local families.
Traditional Family Campground Atmosphere Facing Changes:
Historically, Blue Rocks Family Campground seems to have fostered a family-oriented atmosphere where activities like biking, hiking, and leisurely walks around the grounds were common and cherished parts of the camping experience. This suggests a campground that encouraged active outdoor engagement and a strong sense of community among the families who visited. However, a recent review from a long-time visitor expresses significant concern that the campground has "lost most of its charm." The primary reason cited for this perceived decline is the increased and pervasive use of golf carts within the campground. The reviewer notes that the environment is now "filled with non-stop golf carts" from morning until night, creating a noisy and less pedestrian-friendly atmosphere that detracts from the tranquility traditionally associated with camping. This significant change in the campground's ambiance, shifting away from quieter, more nature-focused activities to the sounds of golf carts frequently moving around, is a crucial point for local users to consider, especially those prioritizing a peaceful and relaxing "camping near me" experience.
Services and Amenities Expected at a Family Campground:
While specific services and amenities at Blue Rocks Family Campground are not exhaustively detailed in the provided reviews, we can infer some common offerings typically expected at a family-oriented campground catering to both tent and RV campers:
- Variety of Campsites: It is likely that the campground offers a range of campsites to accommodate different types of camping, including tent sites for those seeking a more traditional experience and RV sites that may include hookups for water, electricity, and sewer, catering to recreational vehicles of various sizes.
- Restroom and Shower Facilities: Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities with toilets and sinks are essential for any campground, and many family campgrounds also provide shower facilities for the comfort and convenience of their guests, especially those staying for multiple days.
- Water Access: Readily accessible potable water sources are a fundamental requirement, with spigots located conveniently throughout the campground to ensure guests can easily obtain water for drinking, cooking, and other needs.
- Waste Disposal: Proper waste management is crucial for maintaining a clean and environmentally responsible campground. Designated areas for trash disposal and possibly recycling are expected.
- Fire Pits or Grills: Individual campsites typically include a fire pit for campfires, providing a focal point for evening gatherings and the traditional camping experience of roasting marshmallows. Many sites also feature a grill for outdoor cooking.
- Picnic Tables: A picnic table at each campsite offers a dedicated and convenient space for outdoor meals, games, and other activities.
- Recreational Areas: Given its designation as a "family campground," it is highly probable that Blue Rocks Family Campground offers recreational amenities such as a playground for children, open fields for games, and possibly sports courts for activities like basketball or volleyball, encouraging family fun and interaction.
- Hiking Trails: The mention of "hiking" as a past activity strongly suggests the presence of trails either within the campground property or with easy access from it, allowing guests to explore the natural surroundings and enjoy the "beautiful view" firsthand.
- Biking Opportunities: The historical prevalence of "biking" indicates that the campground roads or nearby areas were conducive to bicycle riding, a popular family activity. Local users might want to inquire about designated bike paths or safe areas for cycling, especially given the increased golf cart traffic.
- Camp Store or Office: A central point of contact for check-in, information, and assistance is usually provided, often combined with a small store selling basic camping supplies, snacks, and firewood.
Local users searching for a "camping near me" destination that caters to families will be particularly interested in the availability and quality of these services and amenities.
Features and Potential Unique Aspects:
The name "Blue Rocks Family Campground" itself hints at a possible unique natural feature in the vicinity – perhaps rock formations with a distinctive bluish tint, which could be a point of interest for campers and a potential scenic attraction within or near the campground. The fact that it is a "family owned" operation is also a significant feature, often associated with a more personal and community-oriented approach to hospitality and campground management, as acknowledged by the positive "shout out" in one of the reviews. This personal touch can contribute to a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for local campers.
The consistently mentioned "beautiful view" is undoubtedly a key feature of Blue Rocks Family Campground, likely offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding Berks County landscape, making it an attractive option for those seeking a scenic "camping near me" location. The "fantastic layout" of the campground suggests that the campsites are well-positioned to maximize enjoyment of the natural setting and potentially the views, contributing to a more pleasant and organized camping experience.
The Evolving Atmosphere and Impact of Golf Carts:
The significant concern raised by a long-time visitor regarding the increased and seemingly dominant presence of golf carts within Blue Rocks Family Campground is a critical factor for local users to consider. The apparent transformation from a campground where traditional family outdoor activities like biking and walking were prominent to an environment characterized by the constant sounds of "carts racing around" could fundamentally alter the peaceful and nature-oriented atmosphere that many campers seek. For those prioritizing a tranquil and relaxing "camping near me" experience, the noise and increased motorized vehicle traffic might be a substantial deterrent. Families with young children might also have legitimate safety concerns about the increased presence of golf carts moving throughout the campground.
Absence of Promotional Information:
The provided reviews do not contain any information regarding current promotional offers, seasonal discounts, or special packages that Blue Rocks Family Campground might be offering to attract local campers or families. Local users interested in potential deals or cost-saving opportunities should inquire directly with the campground management when making contact.

- Seek out more recent online reviews from a variety of sources to gain a broader and more current understanding of the overall camping experience at Blue Rocks Family Campground, paying particular attention to comments about noise levels and the impact of golf cart traffic.
By taking these proactive steps, local users can gather more detailed and up-to-date information to make an informed decision about whether Blue Rocks Family Campground aligns with their preferences and expectations for a "camping near me" experience, especially in light of the recent feedback regarding the changing atmosphere of the campground.
Conclusion for Local "Camping Near Me" Seekers:
Blue Rocks Family Campground in Lenhartsville, PA, presents a family-owned camping destination with a history of scenic beauty and a well-regarded layout. However, recent feedback indicates a significant shift in the campground's atmosphere due to the increased use of golf carts, which may impact the experience for those seeking a tranquil and traditional camping environment. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these factors and actively seek current information from the campground and recent reviews to determine if Blue Rocks Family Campground still offers the type of getaway they are looking for in the Berks County area.

Blue Rocks Family Campground Reviews
Let me preface this by saying I am 40 years old and have been coming here since I was under 10 years old. We stayed here April 18-21 2025. This place has lost most of its charm. It used to be filled with families biking, hiking, walking around, riding bikes and now it's filled with non-stop golf carts. Morning to night is filled with the sounds of carts racing around. I can't think of anything less relaxing than this. I can no longer recommend a stay here and I used to look forward to this trip every year but I'm not sure we'll be back.
Apr 21, 2025 · James ForrA fantastic family campground with a beautiful view and layout. I've been coming here for years now, and it's never a disappointment. Make memories here and now, because tomorrow is never guaranteed. A shout out to the family owned campground, and thank you 😊
Apr 19, 2025 · Troy RNice location, but our group had a negative experience with some mice in our cottage and have not had any luck getting a response from Blue Rocks about it.We reserved cottage 178 to stay November 8th-10th for the VW rally, but we ultimately decided to cut our trip short and check out early on the 9th due to the discover of a the presence of some mice inside our cottage. We heard some scurrying in the night, and discovered mouse droppings in some of the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen area, some of it was in contact with utensils and cookware which is concerning as we cooked dinner in the cottage the previous nightI attempted to reach out to Blue Rocks via e-mail on three separate occasions to see if they could offer some sort of partial refund or credit for the night that we didn't stay, but it has been over two weeks and I have not heard back from them. All of that aside, we really did enjoy the campground, restaurant and the atmosphere of the VW show, the staff we spoke to were all very friendly, but our group was upset with the state of the cottage and upset with the lack of acknowledgement from the Campground to rectify the situation. We will likely return to the campground for the day of the show, but I do not think we will book a stay with them again.
Nov 26, 2024 · Joe PolliI’m sure I will regret this rating. The campground is excellent but if everyone who reads this goes camping, my favorite campground will be busy. Special events every weekend through the summer, hiking trails galore and several even go up to trails that hook up to the Appalachian trail system. They have a very nice in ground pool, several nice playgrounds, ice cream, good food, good bathrooms ( not necessarily in that order), good showers that are air conditioned. They sell propane, camping food, gifts, etc, etc. This is a campground that leaves you feeling like you visited the woods. No open field with sardine packed campers here, your in the trees. It’s beautiful. There must be a couple of miles of roads within the campground also. The owners and employees are very friendly and helpful. They even host an RC rock crawler weekend. Not nice Bluerocks!!! Now I need to buy a RC truck. This place can keep you and the kids busy all week. And no I don’t work here, but I like it so much I got a seasonal site.
