The environment of Boulder Campground is consistently described as "beautiful" and offering a sense of "privacy." One reviewer explicitly mentioned that all spots were available during their visit, suggesting that the campground might not always be heavily frequented, contributing to its peaceful atmosphere. The presence of "plenty of trails with beautiful views" indicates that the surrounding area is rich in natural scenery and offers opportunities for hiking and exploration. Another reviewer who engaged in early spring camping "absolutely fell in love with this little campground & the area," further emphasizing its charm and tranquility. The mention of a lake, which was still frozen during an early spring visit, suggests that Boulder Campground is situated near a body of water, potentially offering additional recreational opportunities during warmer months, such as fishing or lakeside relaxation. The experience of hearing the ice expand on the lake at night adds a unique touch to the natural ambiance, highlighting the serene and undisturbed environment. The overall impression is of a campground nestled in a picturesque setting, ideal for those seeking a quiet escape into nature.
In terms of services and features, the available reviews provide insights into some of the essential amenities offered at Boulder Campground. The presence of "a few vault toilets & water pumps" indicates that basic sanitation and water access are provided. Vault toilets are non-flush, pit-style restrooms commonly found in more rustic campgrounds, while water pumps offer a source of potable water for campers. The reviewer who mentioned using the Avenza app to navigate the trails noted that the trails, while nice, "could be better labeled," suggesting that while hiking is a key feature, wayfinding might require some attention, possibly with the aid of navigational tools. The seamless experience of finding a campsite, as mentioned by one reviewer who found all spots available, could be seen as a feature for those who prefer a less crowded camping environment, although it's important to note that availability might vary depending on the time of year and day of the week. The absence of detailed information about other potential services, such as fire rings, picnic tables, or on-site staff presence, necessitates direct inquiry with the campground management.
The standout features of Boulder Campground, based on the customer feedback, include its "very private" campsites, suggesting a layout that offers good separation between camping areas, enhancing the feeling of seclusion. The abundance of trails with "beautiful views" is another significant draw for those who enjoy hiking and exploring the natural surroundings. The proximity to a lake, even if it was frozen during one reviewer's visit, adds to the scenic appeal and likely provides additional recreational opportunities during warmer seasons. The peaceful and tranquil atmosphere is a recurring theme in the reviews, making it an attractive option for those seeking a relaxing camping experience away from more crowded campgrounds. The early spring experience of skating on the frozen lake in boots and hearing the ice expand was a unique and memorable feature for one visitor, highlighting the campground's connection to its natural environment and the potential for unique seasonal experiences. However, the need for better trail labeling is a point to consider for hikers.

Boulder Campground Reviews
beautiful campground and very private. all spots were available when we went so there was no problem finding a campground. plenty of trails with beautiful views ❤️
Jul 25, 2024 · bDid a little early spring camping & absolutely fell in love with this little campground & the area. So peaceful. Lake still had ice when we were up, so we skated around in our boots & could hear the ice expanding late in the night, which was pretty cool. Nice trails, although they could be better labeled, but I'm guessing this spot isn't terribly frequented. Used the Avenza app to make sure we were going the right way back to camp. Few vault toilets & water pumps are available. Definitely will be making a few trips during the summer.
Mar 02, 2024 · Brittney JensenGreat secluded campground for exploring OHV trails in the area. Be sure to bring a way to secure your trash and food. I found bear tracks nearby. Only 4 stars because it was difficult to pay for the campsite and there were no wildlife proof dumpsters when I was there.
Jun 10, 2023 · Philip MI love it that it is not mainstreamed so we always get a spot, it’s low key and yet plenty of trails and stuff to do. When we were here we saw turtles, fireflies, fox, deer and bunnies.
Jul 22, 2024 · Jay VillegasWow, this is a hidden gem. Beautiful spot, well maintained. Some secluded campsites. Near to, but far enough away from the atv trails. Danbury's few restaurants and groceries are reasonably close by. In the fall, the leaves are gorgeous. And there's a lake. Nice spot.
