You can reach them at (205) 497-9828 or mobile at +1 205-497-9828 for inquiries and reservations.
Based on visitor feedback, Burchfield Branch Park is a "GREAT PLACE to GET away," particularly for those looking to disconnect. One of the notable features, and perhaps a draw for those seeking a true escape, is the limited to no cell service or internet connectivity. This allows for a genuine opportunity to unplug and fully immerse yourself in the natural surroundings. If you are looking for a digital detox and a break from constant connectivity, Burchfield Branch Park could be the ideal destination.
Environment and Campsite Features:
The park is described as a "Beautiful place" with "very nice camping spots." While specific details about the number of campsites or their layout are not provided in the reviews, the positive remarks suggest a well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing environment. The presence of "RV hookups" is explicitly mentioned, making it a suitable location for RV travelers seeking essential amenities. The availability of hookups typically includes electric and water connections, offering convenience and comfort for RV stays. Sewer hookups were not specifically mentioned in the provided reviews, so it would be prudent to inquire about this when booking if it is a necessity for your RV setup.
One camper did mention a specific issue regarding the size of their assigned space (Spot #5) and the placement of a banister. They noted that their 42' 5th wheel could have been parked without issue if the banister were not present. This suggests that while the camping spots are generally nice, some might have specific layouts or obstacles that could pose a challenge for very large RVs. It would be advisable for owners of larger rigs to discuss their RV dimensions with the park staff when making a reservation to ensure they are allocated a suitable site. The reviewer mentioned having to "finagle the banister between the steps and the slide," indicating that careful maneuvering might be required in certain spots.
Lakeside Location and Amenities:
A significant feature of Burchfield Branch Park is its lakeside location at Bankhead Dam. The reviews explicitly mention that "They have boat launch," which is a major draw for boating enthusiasts and anglers. Access to a boat launch provides the opportunity to explore the waters of Bankhead Lake, enjoy fishing, or partake in other water-based recreational activities. The presence of the lake undoubtedly enhances the overall appeal of the park, offering scenic views and opportunities for relaxation by the water.
While the reviews highlight the beauty of the location and the availability of a boat launch, further details about other potential amenities are not provided. Information regarding restrooms, showers, picnic tables, fire pits, or other common campground facilities is absent in the current feedback. Therefore, it is recommended to inquire about the availability of these amenities directly with the park management when planning your visit to ensure they meet your needs.
A Quiet and Peaceful Escape:
The lack of cell service and internet connectivity, while a potential drawback for some, contributes significantly to the park's quiet and peaceful atmosphere. For those seeking a break from the digital world and a chance to reconnect with nature, this limited connectivity can be a major advantage. The absence of constant notifications and online distractions allows for a more immersive and relaxing camping experience. You can truly unwind, enjoy the natural surroundings, and focus on the present moment.
The positive feedback regarding the "very nice camping spots" further suggests that the park is well-maintained and designed to offer a pleasant camping experience. While one specific issue with a large RV and a banister was mentioned, the overall tone of the reviews indicates that most visitors find the camping arrangements satisfactory.
In Conclusion:
For local users in search of a 'camping near me' destination that offers a beautiful lakeside setting and a peaceful escape from digital connectivity, Burchfield Branch Park near Brookwood, Alabama, is a compelling option. With its RV hookups and convenient boat launch on Bankhead Lake, it caters to both RV travelers and those interested in boating and fishing. The emphasis on a quiet environment with limited cell service and internet makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a true nature retreat. While owners of very large RVs should inquire about site suitability due to potential layout constraints, the overall positive feedback regarding the beauty of the park and the quality of the camping spots suggests a worthwhile experience. Contact Burchfield Branch Park at (205) 497-9828 or +1 205-497-9828 to plan your tranquil lakeside getaway and enjoy the natural beauty of Bankhead Dam.

GREAT PLACE to GET away. No Cell or internet. The only complaint is the size of the space. if the banister was not there, we could have parked our 42' 5th wheel with no issue. We had to finagle the banister between the steps and the slide. See pictures. Spot #5

Jan 18, 2025 · Troy DavisNice and quiet! We didn't have cell service and it was a 30 minute drive to the store for supplies. The park was so nice and the people that host here are awesome. It was absolutely beautiful. We also enjoyed watching the huge barges come by each day. We stayed 3 weeks here.
