Deerlick Creek Campground Introduce
Nestled on an unnamed road just outside of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Deerlick Creek Campground offers a tranquil and spacious camping experience for local users seeking a retreat in nature. Situated approximately 20 minutes from town via some "curvy up & down roads," this campground provides a peaceful escape while still being within reasonable driving distance of Tuscaloosa's amenities. For those searching for "camping near me" in the Tuscaloosa area, Deerlick Creek Campground presents itself as a clean, quiet, and well-maintained option with friendly and accommodating hosts.
The environment of Deerlick Creek Campground is characterized by its natural beauty, including a lake that offers scenic views from some campsites, such as site 17 mentioned in a review. The presence of a lake suggests potential for lakeside relaxation and possibly some water-related activities, although the specific amenities for such activities are not detailed in the provided information. The campground is described as "very quiet," indicating a serene atmosphere that is ideal for those looking to escape the noise of urban life and immerse themselves in a more natural setting. The "big camp sites" mentioned in a review further enhance the feeling of spaciousness and privacy, allowing campers to spread out and enjoy their surroundings comfortably. The varying terrain, with "curvy up & down roads" leading to the campground, hints at a potentially interesting landscape with some elevation changes.
In terms of services and features, Deerlick Creek Campground appears to prioritize the comfort and convenience of its guests. The helpfulness of the "camp hosts" is a recurring positive point in the reviews. Their assistance during a weather event, including locating a local storm shelter, demonstrates a commitment to the safety and well-being of campers. Their willingness to accommodate late returns, as mentioned in the context of a granddaughter's graduation, highlights their friendly and flexible approach to guest needs. The campground is noted for being "clean," and the "bathrooms/shower facilities are always clean," which is a significant factor for many campers. It is important to note that while laundry facilities are available, the "washer and dryers are only for staff" and not for public use. The campground also seems to offer different types of campsites to accommodate various sizes of rigs. The "upper loops" are noted as being "more suited for bigger rigs" due to a cul-de-sac turnaround, which is a valuable piece of information for RV owners in the local area searching for suitable "camping near me."
For local users with larger RVs or fifth-wheel trailers, the information about the upper loops being more accessible is particularly relevant. Knowing that these sites are designed with better maneuverability can alleviate concerns about navigating tight turns. The lake views from certain sites, like site 17, are also a significant feature that could attract those seeking a more scenic camping experience. The quiet atmosphere of the campground is another key selling point for those who prioritize peace and relaxation during their outdoor getaways. The cleanliness of the facilities further adds to the appeal, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic stay.
One potential area for improvement, as noted in a review, was the temperature in the bathrooms, which were described as "extremely hot" with no open windows and signs requesting doors to be kept closed. This is a piece of feedback that local users might want to consider, although it's important to remember that this was a specific experience at a particular time. It does, however, highlight the importance of ventilation in shared facilities, especially during warmer months.
Considering the platform category "camping near me," Deerlick Creek Campground offers a compelling option for Tuscaloosa residents and those in the surrounding areas. Its proximity to Tuscaloosa provides a convenient escape without being too far from city amenities. The combination of spacious campsites, a lake environment, and helpful hosts creates a welcoming atmosphere for a variety of campers, from those with large RVs to families looking for a quiet weekend retreat.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, based on the positive aspects highlighted, Deerlick Creek Campground could emphasize the following in its promotions to local users: the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, the spacious and clean campsites, the scenic lake views from select sites, and the friendly and accommodating camp hosts. For RV owners, specifically mentioning the suitability of the upper loops for larger rigs would be beneficial. Highlighting the campground's proximity to Tuscaloosa while still offering a natural escape could also attract local residents looking for a convenient "camping near me" option.
To further attract local campers, Deerlick Creek Campground could consider offering special rates or packages for residents of Tuscaloosa and surrounding counties. They could also partner with local businesses or attractions to offer bundled deals. Highlighting any unique natural features or activities available at or near the campground, beyond the lake views, could also be a draw. Given the positive mention of the camp hosts, perhaps featuring their commitment to guest satisfaction in promotional materials would resonate with potential local visitors.
In conclusion, Deerlick Creek Campground, located a short drive from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, offers a clean, quiet, and spacious camping experience in a natural setting with lake views. The friendly and helpful camp hosts contribute to a positive atmosphere, and the availability of suitable sites for larger RVs in the upper loops makes it a versatile option for various types of campers. While one review noted an issue with bathroom temperature, the overall feedback suggests a well-maintained and pleasant campground that is ideal for local users seeking a peaceful "camping near me" getaway. By emphasizing its key features and potentially offering local promotions, Deerlick Creek Campground can further solidify its appeal within the Tuscaloosa camping community.

Deerlick Creek Campground Reviews
We spent 4 night here in our fifth wheel in site 17 overlooking the lake. Upper loops are more suited for bigger rigs as they have a cul de sac turn around that the lower sites do not have. Stayed during a weather event & the camp hosts were very helpful in finding a local storm shelter. Campground itself is 20 minutes out of town on some curvy up & down roads.
Mar 16, 2025 · TerryLisa MooreCampground is on the outskirts of Tuscaloosa. Very quiet and nice big camp sites. The campground is clean. Hosts are friendly and accommated us returning late (after 10pm)because of our granddaughters' graduation. We have been there a couple of times. Bathrooms/ shower facilities are always clean. Washer and dryers are only for staff. This time, the bathrooms were extremely hot. No windows were open, and they had signs posted to keep doors closed.

May 01, 2025 · April EppersonI almost want to give this place a bad review. That way it will never be busy. It is amazing! This is probably one of my favorite state parks. The sites are set up so that you feel alone and not cramped next to other travel trailers. The hosts are amazing. If you want a place to unwind and reconnect with nature, this is the place.
Apr 30, 2024 · Cynthia BrockmanOur site (#19) was concrete and level. The campground is typical for COE campgrounds and reasonably quiet. Since we are people that need to have restaurants and stores reasonably close by, this campground was a bit of a problem. It is about 10 miles to anything at all. If you are looking to just stay at the campsite and relax, this one is perfect.
