Based on feedback from recent visitors, Burnt Rancheria Campground stands out for its delightful and well-maintained environment. One of the frequently praised aspects is the abundance of shade available throughout the campground. This natural canopy provides a significant advantage, ensuring that your camping experience remains cool and comfortable, even during the hotter parts of the day. Imagine relaxing in the shade of mature trees, enjoying the fresh mountain air without the intense heat of the sun beating down – a true highlight for any camping trip, especially during the summer months.
The campground boasts plenty of spacious campsites, each thoughtfully situated to offer a wonderful sense of privacy and tranquility. Visitors have noted that the sites are nestled in their own secluded areas, allowing you and your group to enjoy a more intimate connection with nature and a greater degree of personal space. With "lots and lots of great hiking" in the vicinity, outdoor enthusiasts of all levels will find trails to enjoy, from leisurely strolls to more challenging treks.
The professional maintenance of Burnt Rancheria Campground is another aspect that receives positive feedback. Visitors have described it as a "massive and professionally maintained campground," indicating a commitment to keeping the facilities clean and in good order. One reviewer who stayed in late June 2024 noted that the staff were attentive and observed cleaning frequently, contributing to a positive overall experience despite the presence of typical summer camping conditions like heat and insects.
Speaking of seasonal conditions, it's important to be aware that camping in late June in Mt Laguna can bring warmer temperatures and the presence of bugs, including mosquitoes. However, as one experienced camper noted, this is often considered part of the overall camping experience and not necessarily a fault of the campground itself. Being prepared with insect repellent and appropriate clothing is always recommended, especially during the summer months.
While the majority of the campsites at Burnt Rancheria Campground are spacious and well-situated, one review provided a specific insight regarding Site 25. This particular site was described as very nice and shaded but also noted as being somewhat of an extension of Sites 26 and 27. The reviewer suggested that if you book Site 25, you might consider booking the adjacent sites as well if you desire more separation from other campers, or otherwise be prepared to potentially share the immediate area. This detailed feedback is valuable for those planning their reservations and seeking specific campsite characteristics.
Overall, Burnt Rancheria Campground offers a compelling "Camping Near Me" option for local residents and visitors to the Mt Laguna area. Its combination of spacious and shaded campsites, well-maintained amenities including flush toilets and showers, and convenient access to numerous hiking trails makes it an attractive destination for families, groups of friends, and solo adventurers alike. Jul 07, 2024 · Matt CarlinThis is a massive and professionally maintained campground. There is a lot to like about it, including spacious sites, flush toilets + showers and close proximity to lots and lots of great hiking. We stayed there in late June 2024. It was hot and there were a lot of bugs, including mosquitos. But this is part of the experience of camping, so I can't ding them for that. The staff were attentive and cleaning every time I saw them.We stayed at Site 25, which was very nice and shaded, but sort of an extension of Sites 26 and 27, so either book those too, or expect to share the space.

Feb 12, 2025 · Chris DayUnfriendly hosts! In dozens of years camping all over the country, these hosts take the cake. They are so rude to guests and act like they don’t enjoy their jobs, and definitely don’t enjoy people. We won’t stay here again.Additional note to management: look at all the other negative reviews: they mostly are focused on the rude camp hosts. Please do something so they don’t continue to ruin other people’s stays.
Jul 30, 2024 · C GoWarning: ⚠️ ⚠️⚠️ You cannot play music at this campsite. I had a 3 inch JBL speaker and it was low. If your neighbor complains, no matter what you'll be at fault, so either pray you're not near a camper that complains about everything or a normal person. I will not be gambling anymore because of my last episode. I had a true Karen and there was nothing I could really do about people making up what we did and making me and my family look bad. I'm just letting campers know to possibly avoid this site if you believe listening to music is part of camping. God Bless!
