Cibbets Flat Campground Introduce
For those in the Southern California region searching for "Camping Near Me," Cibbets Flat Campground, located on Fred Canyon Rd in Pine Valley, CA 91962, USA, offers a promising option for a tranquil and nature-focused camping experience. Based on available customer reviews, this campground provides a laid-back atmosphere with spacious sites and the soothing sounds of a running stream. It appears to be particularly appealing to tent campers, hikers, and those seeking a quiet retreat in a natural setting.
**Environment:** The environment of Cibbets Flat Campground is characterized by its natural beauty and peaceful ambiance. One reviewer who visited in late January noted the cold weather but still found the experience fun, emphasizing the quiet atmosphere punctuated only by the sound of a "running stream." This suggests that the campground is situated in a location where the natural flow of water contributes to a serene backdrop. Another reviewer echoed the peacefulness, describing it as a "really laid back campground" where "other campers were quiet," further reinforcing its appeal for those seeking a tranquil escape when looking for "Camping Near Me."
The presence of a running stream is a significant environmental feature, potentially offering a source of natural beauty and a calming auditory experience. However, one reviewer mentioned that the water was "mostly shut off" during their late January visit, requiring them to filter water from the stream in the morning. This indicates that the availability of running water at the sites might be seasonal or subject to certain conditions, a factor prospective campers should be aware of and inquire about.
The campground's location in Pine Valley suggests a mountainous or forested environment, typical of the Cleveland National Forest region. The mention of dropping off wood via car the day before a hike-in trip implies that the area supports campfires and that firewood might be available or can be brought in. The overall setting seems conducive to outdoor activities and an immersive natural experience, aligning well with the desires of many searching for "Camping Near Me."
**Services and Features:** Based on the customer reviews, Cibbets Flat Campground offers several notable services and features:
- **Spacious and Nicely Spaced Sites:** One reviewer praised the sites for being "nicely spaced apart and large," providing a sense of privacy and ample room for setting up camp. This is a significant advantage over campgrounds where sites are crowded together.
- **Picnic Tables and Fire Rings:** The reviewer who stayed with friends mentioned using the fires and picnic tables at their two side-by-side sites, indicating that these amenities are provided at each campsite. The ability to have a campfire is often a key element of the camping experience for many.
- **Pit Toilets:** The restroom facilities are described as "pit toilets" which were "as to be expected - decently clean." While not the most luxurious option, decently maintained pit toilets are a standard amenity at many campgrounds.
- **Running Water at the Sites (Potentially Seasonal):** One reviewer noted "running water at the sites," while another mentioned it being mostly shut off in late January. This suggests that running water might be available during certain times of the year, but it's crucial to confirm the availability with the campground management, especially during off-peak seasons.
- **Dog Friendly:** The campground is reported to be "Dog friendly," which is a significant plus for campers who travel with their pets. Inquiring about specific pet policies (e.g., leash rules, allowed areas) would be advisable.
- **Bike Riding:** The roads within the campground are described as "nice for bike riding," suggesting that the internal infrastructure is suitable for leisurely cycling.
- **Affordable Rates:** One reviewer mentioned the very low cost of "$14 for a single site," highlighting the affordability of camping at Cibbets Flat Campground. This can be a major draw for budget-conscious campers searching for "Camping Near Me."
- **Accessibility for PCT Backpackers:** The campground is noted as being "great for PCT backpackers," indicating its proximity to the Pacific Crest Trail and its suitability for hikers undertaking long-distance treks. This could include features like easy access from the trail or a welcoming attitude towards backpackers.
**Promotional Information:** Based on the positive aspects highlighted in the reviews, Cibbets Flat Campground can be promoted to local users searching for "Camping Near Me" as a:

Local users searching for "Camping Near Me" who value a quiet, natural setting with spacious sites and affordable rates should consider Cibbets Flat Campground. Its proximity to the Pacific Crest Trail also makes it an excellent choice for hikers. However, it is important to note the potential for seasonal water availability and the rustic nature of the facilities (pit toilets). Campers should come prepared for a more traditional camping experience while enjoying the tranquility and natural beauty of the area.
Before planning a trip to Cibbets Flat Campground, it would be advisable to check the current status of water availability, especially during off-peak seasons, and any specific regulations or recommendations from the managing authority. Cibbets Flat Campground Reviews
went late January and it was cold but fun. very quiet except for running stream. water was mostly shut off so we had to filter from a stream in the morning. only $14 for a single site. great for pct backpackers. we dropped wood via car the day before so we could hike in and stay warm by the fire.
Jan 23, 2025 · Dan GervaisReally laid back campground. Sites are nicely spaced apart and large. Other campers were quiet. My friends and I had 2 sites side by side and there was room for 5 cars. We set up 3 tents, used the fires, and the picnic tables. Pit toilets were as to be expected - decently clean. Running water at the sites. Dog friendly. Roads were nice for bike riding too.
Jan 05, 2024 · Whitney LauritsenGreat campsite, usually empty depending on the time of year. It’s fun talking to the eclectic groups of people here, or the pct hikers. Some fun off road trails surrounding the area, I’ve gone a few times with some water around. But that’s not often. Everywhere here is usually respectful and cleans up after themselves. It’s awesome to know this is In our backyard. Hope they open it up to be able to take the off road trails to mount laguna.
Jan 27, 2023 · Evan BurkeStayed here on a Friday night. Backpacked in.The good: pit toilets are well stocked and clean. CG is in a pleasant little valley. A creek runs through the northwest corner. Lots of big oak trees for shade. The bad: there are no active hosts, so weekend nights can be a circus. A large group showed up around 7pm, already intoxicated, started setting up and partying. Music blasting. More drinking. Couples arguing loudly. Fighting. Zero respect for other campers. Music going until 2am when the sheriff showed up.Would not camp here on a Friday or Saturday. It’s lawlessness.
Apr 26, 2025 · Alex TheisIt was a nice and beautiful place. Green. Cannot swim in the ponds. Not safe!Lots of land for hiking. Beautiful view!$28.00 per night in double spaces. We stay in the middle of the campsite. It was big, but it has a LOT of wasps, but we can manage to enjoy 2 nights.
