Camp Cozy Introduce
Looking for a more rugged and natural "camping near me" experience? Camp Cozy, located in Apopka, FL 32712, offers a primitive campsite nestled along an 8-mile hiking trail. Based on the available customer reviews, Camp Cozy provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, with the added benefit of a scenic hiking experience and the soothing sounds of a nearby running stream.
Environment and Location: Situated in Apopka, Florida, Camp Cozy distinguishes itself by being a primitive campsite directly accessible from an 8-mile hiking trail. This suggests a natural woodland environment typical of central Florida, potentially featuring diverse flora and fauna. The reviews highlight the presence of a running stream in close proximity to at least one camping spot, indicating a water source that adds to the natural ambiance. The "primitive" nature of the campsite implies a less developed area, focusing on a more direct interaction with the wilderness.
Services and Features: The reviews provide limited but crucial information about the services and features at Camp Cozy. One review explicitly states that "non potable water" is available. This is a vital piece of information for potential campers, emphasizing the need to bring their own drinking water or a reliable water purification method. The second review mentions a "running stream close by," which could serve as a source for washing (if permitted and done responsibly) or simply enhance the natural setting. The fact that it's on an 8-mile hiking trail suggests that hiking is a primary activity associated with this location. As a primitive campsite, it's likely to lack amenities commonly found in developed campgrounds, such as restrooms, showers, picnic tables, or designated fire rings (though campfires might be permitted under specific regulations, which would need to be verified).
Based on the description, key features of Camp Cozy appear to be:
- Primitive camping: Expect a natural setting with minimal development.
- Access to an 8-mile hiking trail: Ideal for those who enjoy hiking and backpacking.
- Non-potable water available: Campers must plan accordingly for drinking water.
- Proximity to a running stream: Enhances the natural environment.
The review noting "not a long hike" to at least one camping spot suggests that while it's integrated with a hiking trail, the access to camping might not require extensive trekking, making it potentially suitable for various levels of hikers.
Promotional Aspects and Why Choose Camp Cozy: For local users browsing the "camping near me" category who are drawn to a more authentic and less facilitated outdoor experience, Camp Cozy offers a unique appeal. Imagine setting up camp in a natural Florida environment, with the opportunity to explore an 8-mile hiking trail right from your campsite. The presence of a running stream adds a serene element to the experience. If you value solitude, hiking, and a back-to-nature approach to camping, Camp Cozy could be your ideal destination.
However, the "primitive" nature also means that campers need to be self-sufficient and prepared. You would need to bring all necessary camping gear, including shelter, sleeping equipment, cooking supplies, and a plan for potable water. Familiarity with Leave No Trace principles is essential to help preserve the natural beauty of this area.
To summarize, Camp Cozy offers:
- A primitive camping experience in Apopka, FL.
- Direct access to an 8-mile hiking trail for outdoor exploration.
- The potential for a campsite near a running stream, providing a natural water soundscape.
- Non-potable water is available, requiring campers to secure their own drinking water.
For those seeking a genuine connection with nature and a hiking-centric camping trip in the "camping near me" vicinity, Camp Cozy presents a promising option. Be prepared for a primitive experience and come equipped to handle your needs in a natural setting.

Nov 15, 2022 · Brenden BeardIsolated primitive camp. No hookupsThere's water, but it doesn't provide potable water. Has two fire rings, a picnic table, and several benches. Plenty of firewood laying around. Has a big metal food bin, that provides protection from bears. Has lots of items in there donated by others for use, such as crackers, food etc
