Camp La-No-Che

41940 Boy Scout Rd, Paisley, FL 32767, USA

4.0
The arrival at this place was beautiful, unlike anything I’d ever seen. The place is big, Definitely can’t run out of options of things to do. The water is beautiful, The facilities are mediocre, but they are there!! And for it being a camp I kinda think that’s a big deal. I’m not sure what that powwow was or how it was Native American, that was rather disappointing. However it was quite interesting to see that there is a great outlet for boys and girls of young ages to be able to Learn and obtain life skills that you cannot get from being indoors or on video games . I gave this place three stars because there was a tick problem there!!! please beware bring something to kill ticks because it’s a lot like Las Vegas There, were the herpes comes back with you.. - kamryn Stinson

Camp La-No-Che Introduce

Looking for a local campground that offers more than just a place to pitch a tent? Situated in the scenic town of Paisley, Florida, Camp La-No-Che is a large and multifaceted campground with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, adventure, and community engagement, particularly for young people. As a noteworthy option in the 'camping near me' category, Camp La-No-Che provides a unique environment and an extensive array of activities, making it an appealing destination for local families, youth groups, and potentially other campers seeking a dynamic outdoor experience.

The arrival at Camp La-No-Che is described as "beautiful" and "unlike anything I’d ever seen," suggesting a visually impressive natural setting. Located at 41940 Boy Scout Rd in Paisley, the campground benefits from the diverse landscapes of Central Florida, which could include woodlands, lakes, and open spaces. One reviewer noted the presence of beautiful water, hinting at potential waterfront activities or scenic water features within the camp. The sheer size of the property is also highlighted, indicating ample space for exploration and a wide variety of activities without feeling crowded.

A significant feature of Camp La-No-Che is its focus on providing learning and life skills to young boys and girls. While primarily associated with scouting activities, the camp's infrastructure and programs appear to offer valuable experiences that extend beyond traditional camping. The availability of numerous merit badges suggests a structured educational component, allowing young participants to learn and develop skills in various fields. Additionally, the mention of high adventure and extracurricular games and activities points to a well-rounded program designed to engage and challenge campers in a variety of ways.

Accommodation options at Camp La-No-Che include traditional tent camping as well as screened cabins known as Adirondacks. These cabins can sleep a significant number of people (6-10 per cabin), making them suitable for larger groups or families who prefer a more sheltered and communal lodging experience. The availability of both tent sites and cabins caters to different camping preferences and needs.

In terms of services, Camp La-No-Che appears well-equipped to support its large number of campers and diverse activities. Laundry facilities are available on-site, providing a practical amenity for longer stays. The presence of medical staff ensures that basic health needs can be addressed, contributing to the safety and well-being of campers. The numerous camp rangers are described as ready to help when needed, indicating a supportive and accessible staff presence throughout the campground.

For convenience, Camp La-No-Che also features a scout shop, where campers can likely purchase essential supplies, souvenirs, and program-related items. A snack bar is also available, offering options for quick meals and refreshments. These on-site amenities enhance the overall camping experience by providing easy access to necessities and treats.

The mention of "two 'winter' camps each year" suggests that Camp La-No-Che operates year-round and offers specialized programs during the colder months. The staff is described as "trained and highly motivated to provide scouts with a top-notch experience," reinforcing the camp's commitment to quality and impactful programming.

However, one important environmental concern raised in a review is the presence of a tick problem. The reviewer strongly advises bringing tick repellent, comparing the abundance of ticks to a persistent health issue. Local users considering a visit should be aware of this and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families from ticks.

Another point of feedback concerns the facilities, which were described as "mediocre" but present. For a large camp focused on activities, the provision of basic facilities is acknowledged as important. While not luxurious, the existence of these facilities supports the overall operation of the camp and the comfort of its visitors.

Regarding promotional information, the reviews themselves highlight the beautiful environment, the wide range of activities, and the helpfulness of the staff. The emphasis on learning life skills for young people could be a key promotional aspect for families and youth organizations seeking enriching outdoor experiences. The availability of different accommodation types also adds to its appeal for a broader range of campers.

While one reviewer expressed disappointment regarding a specific event ("powwow"), this feedback seems isolated and might not reflect the general camping experience. The primary focus of the positive reviews is on the overall environment, the abundance of activities, and the developmental opportunities for young campers.

For local users searching for 'camping near me' that offers a comprehensive outdoor experience, especially for families with children or youth groups, Camp La-No-Che presents a compelling option. Its large size ensures plenty of space for exploration and activities, and the combination of learning, adventure, and various amenities provides a well-rounded camping destination. However, potential visitors should be prepared for the possibility of ticks and have appropriate protection.

In conclusion, Camp La-No-Che in Paisley, Florida, offers a unique and extensive camping experience characterized by a beautiful environment, a wide array of activities focused on learning and adventure for young people, and a range of accommodation options. The presence of on-site amenities like laundry, medical staff, a scout shop, and a snack bar adds to the convenience. Local users should be aware of the reported tick issue and come prepared. Overall, Camp La-No-Che stands out as a significant local resource for outdoor engagement and skill development.
