Located at 236 Camp Morganton Rd, Blue Ridge, GA 30513, USA, this camping cabin offers spacious lodging and a range of amenities and natural features suitable for youth camps, family reunions, retreats, and other large gatherings. Based on recent customer reviews, Camp Morganton provides a unique setting focused on accommodating sizable groups and offering opportunities for various outdoor activities.
Environment and Location: Situated in Blue Ridge, a region renowned for its stunning natural beauty, Camp Morganton benefits from a picturesque environment. Reviews highlight the "beautiful grounds" encompassing a waterfall, a lake, a nature trail, and a creek. This diverse landscape offers opportunities for leisurely strolls, enjoying the waterfront, and exploring the local flora and fauna. The presence of a "large open field" further expands the possibilities for outdoor activities, including games and even disk golf, as mentioned by one reviewer. Local users seeking a natural retreat with space for group activities will likely find the setting of Camp Morganton appealing.
Spacious Lodge and Accommodation Features: A key feature of Camp Morganton is its spacious lodge, described as having "plenty of room for large groups, families or an individual," although the emphasis in the reviews is clearly on its suitability for larger parties. The lodge boasts a "large kitchen" equipped with three full-sized sinks and four ovens, although it's noted that not all ovens may be fully functional. The kitchen's hot water supply is reported to get "super hot," which is a point of caution for users. The lodge also offers ample gathering space in a main room that can be set up with the "plenty of folded tables and plastic chairs" provided. A fireplace is present in the main room, although its operational safety was not assessed by the reviewer. For outdoor relaxation, there is a "small screened-in porch."
Sleeping and Bathroom Facilities: The lodge at Camp Morganton includes two bathrooms, each equipped with two toilets/stalls and one shower. Each bathroom also has two sinks. While toilet paper is provided, one reviewer suggests bringing extra paper towels. Guests are reminded to bring their own toiletries, bath towels, and bedding, indicating that these are not supplied by the facility. The presence of central heat and air ensures a comfortable indoor environment regardless of the season.
Kitchen and Dining Amenities: The large kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals for large groups. Reviews indicate that "most pots, pans, and other cooking needs are available for use," along with a coffee pot. The three sinks will be particularly useful for managing dishwashing for larger numbers. However, the potential issue with the non-fully functional ovens should be considered when planning meals.
Outdoor Amenities and Activities: Camp Morganton shines in its outdoor offerings. The "nice little lake" provides a focal point for relaxation and potentially some water-based activities (though not specified). A "mini hike" around the lake is possible, and a hammock can be set up by the water for leisurely enjoyment. The "nature trail and creek" offer further opportunities for exploration. The "large open field" is versatile, accommodating various games and activities, including disk golf. A bridge over the creek is mentioned as being "a little sketchy" but capable of supporting a group of teenagers, suggesting it's passable with caution. The availability of space in the back to park a few cars near the kitchen, although on uneven ground, can be convenient for unloading.
Suitability for Large Groups: The reviews overwhelmingly emphasize Camp Morganton's suitability for large groups. The spacious lodge, ample seating, well-equipped kitchen, and multiple bathroom facilities make it ideal for accommodating youth camps, retreats, and large family gatherings. The variety of outdoor spaces and activities further enhances its appeal for group outings where diverse interests and age ranges need to be catered to.
Things to Bring: Based on the reviews, local users planning a stay at Camp Morganton should remember to bring:
- Toiletries
- Bath towels
- Bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows)
- Potentially extra paper towels
Potential Considerations: While the reviews are largely positive, there are a few points to note:
- The functionality of all four ovens in the kitchen is not guaranteed.
- Hot water in the kitchen gets very hot, requiring caution.
- Hot water in the bathrooms takes some time to warm up.
- The bridge over the creek is described as "sketchy" and should be crossed with care.

Camp Morganton Blue Ridge, Georgia Reviews
Good place for large groups to stay. Large kitchen with 3 full sized sinks. 4 ovens but not all of them seem to work. Water in kitchen gets super hot. Water in bathrooms takes a bit to get warm. Plenty of folded tables and plastic chairs to set up in the main room. Has a fire place (we didn’t try using it so no idea if it’s safe to operate). Has a small screened in porch and modest gravel parking. Space in the back to park a few cars by the kitchen if needed but ground isn’t the most level in that area. Nice little lake and space to take a mini hike around it. There is a field nearby. Bridge over the creek is a little sketchy but goes 16 teenagers just find. Space for a hammock by the lake. They have a few board games and puzzles inside. Has 2 bathrooms both with 2 toilets/stalls in them. One shower in both bathrooms. 2 sinks in both bathrooms. Toilet paper and paper towels provided but might want to bring extra paper towels. Most pots, pans, and other cooking needs are available for use. Also has a coffee pot. Make sure you bring your own toiletries, bath towels, and bedding. Has central heat and air. Average sized TV was mounted on the wall when we were there 11/18/23. We love it for youth camp.
