Camp Sandusky Introduce
For local users in the Sandusky, Ohio area searching for "camping near me," Camp Sandusky, located at 3518 Tiffin Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870, USA, presents itself as a campground with a range of amenities and a convenient location. You can reach them at (419) 626-1133 or their mobile number +1 419-626-1133 for reservations and inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, Camp Sandusky offers a family-friendly environment with some notable features and a few areas for potential improvement.
The environment of Camp Sandusky is described by one long-term visitor as having "all the trees" and grounds that are pleasant to walk. This suggests a setting with mature trees that could provide shade and a natural ambiance for campers. The overall atmosphere appears to be generally enjoyable, with one reviewer noting that their experience has been "for the most part... enjoyable." The campground's location in Sandusky likely offers a mix of natural and urban proximity, given its nearness to various attractions.
For families with children searching for "camping near me," the presence of a playground is a significant feature, as highlighted by one reviewer whose "kids really liked the playground." This amenity provides a dedicated space for children to play and expend energy, contributing to a more relaxed and enjoyable camping experience for the whole family.
In terms of services and amenities, Camp Sandusky offers essential hookups for RV travelers, including "on-site water, 50 and 30 amp electric and sewage hookup." This is a crucial feature for local users with travel trailers or RVs looking for "camping near me" that can accommodate their power and utility needs. The availability of these full hookups adds convenience and comfort for RV campers.
The campground also boasts a "swimming pool," which is a popular amenity for campers of all ages, especially during the warmer months. This provides a recreational option for cooling off and enjoying some leisure time on-site. For local users seeking "camping near me" with opportunities for swimming, Camp Sandusky offers this facility.
Another unique service mentioned is the "Breakfast of All you can eat Pancakes, and 1 piece of sausage," with drinks believed to be extra. This on-site food service offers a convenient option for campers to enjoy a hearty breakfast without having to cook themselves. The "pretty good" rating suggests a satisfactory dining experience. This feature could be particularly appealing to local users looking for a "camping near me" that provides some meal options.
Camp Sandusky is also described as "very pet friendly," which is a significant draw for local users who enjoy camping with their pets and are searching for "camping near me" that welcomes animals. The reviewer also noted that "other campers that I have seen has been following the pet rules," suggesting a responsible pet owner community within the campground.
For those considering cabin rentals as an alternative to traditional camping, Camp Sandusky offers "cabins." While described as simply "somewhere to lay your head when you're tired" and "not bad," these cabins provide a more sheltered accommodation option for local users who might prefer not to sleep in a tent. The basic nature suggests functionality over luxury.
One of the notable features of Camp Sandusky is its proximity to various attractions. It is mentioned as being "not far from Cedar Point and other attractions." This makes it a potentially convenient base for local users who are planning to visit the famous Cedar Point amusement park or explore other points of interest in the Sandusky area while also enjoying a camping experience. This strategic location enhances its appeal as a "camping near me" option for those looking to combine outdoor recreation with local entertainment.
The positive interactions with the staff are also highlighted in one review, with the owner "Charles" being described as "a hoot" and the Manager "Mike and his crew" being noted as "very knowledgeable as well as friendly." Positive and helpful staff can significantly contribute to a pleasant camping experience for local users.
However, there are a couple of areas where improvements could be made, according to the reviews. One reviewer mentioned that "the showers could definitely use an update," suggesting that these facilities might be dated or in need of renovation. This is a factor that local users often consider when choosing "camping near me," as clean and modern shower facilities contribute to overall comfort.
Another point of consideration is that "Spots are somewhat tight if you have a travel trailer." This indicates that while RV hookups are available, the spacing between campsites might be limited, potentially making maneuvering and setting up larger RVs a bit challenging. Local users with larger travel trailers looking for "camping near me" should inquire about site sizes and layouts when booking.
One reviewer mentioned enjoying "Bike Week the most" and described it as a "crazy fun bunch." This suggests that Camp Sandusky might host or be a popular location for specific events, such as a motorcycle rally. Local users interested in such events or those who prefer a quieter atmosphere should inquire about the campground's schedule and potential for themed weekends.
Promotional information is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. To learn about any special offers, seasonal rates, or packages that Camp Sandusky might be offering to attract local campers, it would be best to contact them directly via phone or explore their website if available. Given its proximity to Cedar Point, they might offer combination deals or discounts for campers visiting the park.
In conclusion, Camp Sandusky offers a local camping option with several appealing features, including a playground, swimming pool, RV hookups, pet-friendly policies, and a convenient location near Cedar Point and other attractions. The availability of an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast and the friendly staff are also positive aspects. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported need for shower updates and the potentially tight spacing for larger RVs. Overall, for local users in the Sandusky area seeking a family-friendly "camping near me" with a range of amenities and access to local entertainment, Camp Sandusky appears to be a viable option worth considering, with a direct inquiry recommended for the most up-to-date information on site availability and any current promotions.

Camp Sandusky Reviews
For the most part it has been enjoyable, the kids really liked the playground. The showers could definitely use an update. Spots are somewhat tight if you have a travel trailer. On-site water, 50 and 30 amp electric and sewage hookup. Being we are camping at the end of the season it was really quiet. They are also very pet friendly and other campers that I have seen has been following the pet rules. Would come back
Oct 19, 2024 · Scott WernerI stay there all summer. I enjoy all the trees and being able to walk the grounds. The cabins are cabins. Somewhere to lay your head when you're tired. Not bad ,I don't think. I enjoy Bike Week the most. What a crazy fun bunch. It also offers a swimming pool and other amenities. They serve Breakfast of All you can eat Pancakes, and 1 piece of sausage. Drinks I believe are extra. It's pretty good . The owner Charles is a hoot, and the Manager Mike and his crew are very knowledgeable as well as friendly. I'd say ... yes to Camp Sandusky. It's not far from Cedar Point and other attractions.
Aug 30, 2024 · sallie bingleStayed one night while traveling through. I was charged an 8.00 reservation fee but didn't need reservation? Campground was empty. This is unacceptable. Nice trees but that's where it ends. Place REALLY needs cleaned up. Pile after pile of junk everywhere. Restrooms are a nightmare. Would not stay again. It is really a shame because it could be a beautiful park.
Sep 10, 2024 · Lisa BriggsStayed three nights here to visit cedar point as most people in this campground do. We stayed in mid August and the campground was a ghost town which made our stay very quiet :) (We luckily we were camped on the far side so we didn’t have traffic noise) The staff are nice and there are several kid friendly amenities available. WiFi stretches around the campground along with full RV hookups which packs two big bonuses. Along with many other reviews, the bathrooms could use some updating, mainly the showers, so do not expect the Ritz Carlton. Otherwise, it’s a great value campground and is about 15 minutes from the park but is one of the least expensive stays around.
Aug 31, 2024 · Matthew BurgerWe've stayed 4 times. Love the comfort of staying at the same place but the mattresses have our backs in so much pain. The showers are not clean and water doesn't warm up much. Pool too cold to swim. A few improvements needed. Not sure if we'll return for halloweekends, no heat in bathrooms so I can't shower.
