Welcome to Lighthouse Point Campground, your premier camping destination nestled right next to the world-famous Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio! If you're searching for "camping near me" that offers a blend of natural outdoor living with the thrill and convenience of nearby attractions, look no further. Lighthouse Point Campground provides an exceptional experience for families, couples, and solo adventurers looking to make the most of their visit to Cedar Point and the surrounding Lake Erie region.
Located at 1 Cedar Point Dr, Sandusky, OH 44870, USA, Lighthouse Point Campground offers a variety of camping options to suit your needs. Whether you're traveling in a fully equipped RV or prefer the traditional tent camping experience, you'll find well-maintained sites designed for comfort and convenience. For those with RVs and campers, the campground boasts spacious and affordable sites equipped with necessary hookups, ensuring a comfortable stay. Tent campers can also enjoy designated areas, perfect for setting up your temporary outdoor home base. Please note, based on customer reviews, while tent camping is permitted for cooking, drying towels, and extra living space, sleeping in tents is not allowed.
One of the standout features of Lighthouse Point Campground is its unparalleled proximity to Cedar Point and Shores Waterpark. Imagine waking up just a short walk or a quick shuttle ride away from the exhilarating roller coasters and refreshing water slides that make Cedar Point a world-class destination. This convenience allows you to maximize your time enjoying the parks without the hassle of long commutes. As highlighted by satisfied campers, the walking distance to the park is manageable for many, and for those who prefer not to walk, a shuttle service is readily available to transport guests to and from the park entrance. While one reviewer noted that the shuttle wasn't seen frequently, it remains a valuable option for easy access.
Beyond its prime location, Lighthouse Point Campground offers a range of amenities designed to enhance your camping experience. Beat the summer heat with a refreshing dip in the campground's pool, or unwind and relax in the hot tub after a thrilling day at the park. Families with young children will especially appreciate the fun-filled spray park, providing hours of entertainment for the little ones. While one guest mentioned a significant number of bugs in the hot tub, they also acknowledged that this might have been due to the time of year and not necessarily a fault of the campground's maintenance.
The campground staff at Lighthouse Point are consistently praised for their helpfulness and efficiency. From the easy check-in process to answering any questions you may have during your stay, the dedicated team is committed to ensuring you have a smooth and enjoyable experience. This welcoming and supportive atmosphere contributes significantly to the overall positive reviews the campground receives.
For those looking for an affordable lodging option while visiting Cedar Point, Lighthouse Point Campground presents a compelling alternative to traditional hotels and resorts. As one reviewer aptly stated, while Breakers (a hotel on Cedar Point property) is very nice, they found staying at Lighthouse Point with their camper even more appealing. This suggests that the campground offers excellent value for money, allowing you to allocate more of your budget towards park tickets, dining, and souvenirs.
Many guests who choose Lighthouse Point Campground are repeat visitors, a testament to the quality and appeal of the facilities and services. One enthusiastic reviewer mentioned planning a return trip in the fall, further emphasizing the campground's year-round appeal. The ability to bring your own fire pit (like a Solo Stove, as mentioned by one guest) allows for cozy evenings under the stars, adding to the traditional camping ambiance. Additionally, the flexibility of using a tent for cooking and storage provides added convenience for campers.
To make the most of your Cedar Point adventure, consider purchasing season passes and meal/drink packages, as one reviewer shared their positive experience with these options during their four-night stay. Staying at Lighthouse Point Campground provides a fantastic base for exploring not only Cedar Point but also the broader Sandusky area and the beautiful shores of Lake Erie.
In summary, Lighthouse Point Campground offers a winning combination of affordability, convenience, and amenities for anyone planning a visit to Cedar Point. Its proximity to the park, coupled with its on-site facilities like a pool, hot tub, and spray park, makes it an ideal choice for families and individuals alike. Lighthouse Point Campground - Cedar Point Reviews
A great and affordable option for those with RV’s and campers. The walk isn’t too far from the park, but they also have shuttle buses if you don’t want to or can’t make the walk. Check-in is super easy and the staff is always helpful. Our go to used to be Breakers, and as super nice as Breakers is, I think I like staying at Lighthouse Point with our camper even more.
Apr 05, 2025 · Jennifer HollandReally enjoyed this campground. We had a regular back in site. We brought our own solo stove so we could have a fire each night. We also used our tent for cooking, drying our towels and the extra living space (you cannot sleep in the tent). We stayed in space 301. It was a great walking distance to the park and water park. We did use the shuttle once, we really didn’t see it that often. We stayed 4 nights, bought season passes and a season drink pass. Did 2 day meal pass and we had an amazing time. This campground had a pool, hot tub and spray park. The hot tub had a significant amount of bugs but I think it was just the time of year, not the campgrounds fault. We are planning to return in the fall. Highly recommend.
Jul 25, 2024 · Juli AnneOur stay was a 2 day stay. The standard cabin had a great location, 10-15 min walk from park entrance. Loved the landscaping. Standard Cabin accommodated 5 of us greatly. The main bedroom bed was very cozy. The kids loved having the loft to use for a gaming area. My oldest enjoyed the serene environment, pool, and pier. Service was fantastic. The reason I gave Service a 4 is I believe the cleaning service fell short. The bathroom had what appears to be black mold on the wall above the vent and on the inside of the door at the bottom. This was something that we didn't notice until day 2, considering we did not use the cabin for much on day one. We did continue to stay and made front desk services aware at check out.
Jun 17, 2024 · Shawnae WoodwardRooms in the family cabin are physically small but comfortable with all the amenities listed on the site. They are clean and well maintained. The real advantage is that you can walk to the park and you get early entry, which is great. Good values as well when bundled with park tickets.
Aug 22, 2024 · matt mcmillinWe stayed in a "Standard Cabin" for a night as something cute to do. Parking was fine, but there were some questionably young girls buying drugs from a guy in a white car when we parked there. Trying to ignore that, we made our way to our cabin and then welcomed by a dirty picnic table that was covered in cobwebs. It was not a great start, but when we went inside the cabin, we found it very cozy and in great condition. There is no stove, but the microwave does the trick in a pinch. Settling in for the night, we found the bed in the main bedroom to be way too small for two grown adults. We're both under 6 feet tall and could not get comfortable. I woke up several times in the night with back pain. The shower in the morning was challenging because the shower was criminally small. I'm 5 foot 8 inches, and I felt like I was too close to the ceiling. Overall, if I were to stay there again, I would get a bigger cabin. But the staff there need to be aware that there are drug deals going on at the property. It's absolutely unsettling seeing that happening in clear sight.
