You can reach them at (770) 297-3000 or their mobile number +1 770-297-3000 for any inquiries. Based on recent visitor feedback, this campground offers a well-maintained environment with easy access to stunning natural attractions.
The environment surrounding the Upper Chattahoochee River Campground is clearly a significant draw. Situated along the Chattahoochee River, campers can anticipate the soothing sounds of flowing water and the potential for river-related activities, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. What is prominently featured is the campground's very short distance to Horse Trough Falls, a notable natural landmark in the area. This accessibility allows campers to easily enjoy the beauty of the falls without a strenuous trek. One reviewer described the location as "a great place in the middle of no where," suggesting a sense of peaceful remoteness that many nature lovers seek in a camping experience. The presence of "a nice creek too" further enhances the natural appeal of the area, offering additional opportunities for relaxation and enjoying the water.
In terms of services, while the reviews don't mention traditional campground amenities like bathhouses with running water, they do highlight the presence of "port-a-potties." Importantly, one reviewer noted that they arrived right after these portable restrooms had been cleaned, which was appreciated and indicates that these facilities are maintained. This suggests a basic level of service focused on essential needs in a more natural setting. The mention of the campground looking "well kept" implies that the overall grounds are maintained and cared for, contributing to a pleasant camping environment.
A notable feature of the Upper Chattahoochee River Campground is its access to not just one, but "2 really nice waterfalls within a short walk," as mentioned by one visitor. This makes it an ideal location for those who enjoy hiking to scenic cascades. The proximity of Horse Trough Falls is specifically highlighted, but the mention of a second waterfall nearby adds even more incentive for nature enthusiasts to choose this campground as their base for exploration. The fact that you "really don't need to leave once you get there" suggests that the natural attractions around the campground are sufficient to provide a fulfilling outdoor experience.
Another practical point from the reviews concerns the road leading to the campground. One visitor described it as a "little rough," particularly for their Jeep Wranglers, implying it might be unpaved or have uneven terrain. However, they also noted seeing a family in a minivan at the campground, indicating that while the drive might be more enjoyable for vehicles with higher clearance, it is not necessarily prohibitive for all types of vehicles. This is useful information for local users planning their visit.
While no specific promotional offers are mentioned, the inherent appeal of a well-kept campground in a location with easy access to beautiful waterfalls and a creek serves as a strong draw. The positive comments about the cleanliness of the portable restrooms also contribute to a favorable impression. For those searching for a natural getaway with hiking opportunities, the Upper Chattahoochee River Campground seems to offer a compelling experience.
For local users seeking "camping near me" that prioritizes natural beauty and access to hiking, particularly to waterfalls, the Upper Chattahoochee River Campground in Blairsville, GA, is definitely worth considering. The chance to be near the Chattahoochee River, explore Horse Trough Falls and another nearby waterfall, and enjoy a seemingly tranquil setting makes it an attractive option for a weekend escape or a longer nature retreat. The fact that the campground is reported as well-kept and the portable restrooms are maintained adds to the appeal.
To local camping enthusiasts, this campground offers a blend of natural attractions and basic, yet maintained, facilities. The short trek to Horse Trough Falls alone is a significant feature for many, and the presence of another waterfall and a creek provides even more opportunities to connect with nature. While the road in might be a bit rough, it appears manageable for most vehicles. If you value being in a natural environment with easy access to scenic hikes and the sounds of water, the Upper Chattahoochee River Campground could be your next favorite spot.
In conclusion, the Upper Chattahoochee River Campground presents a compelling option for those looking for "camping near me" in a natural setting. Its proximity to Horse Trough Falls and another waterfall, along with a nearby creek, offers excellent opportunities for outdoor exploration and relaxation. The campground is described as well-kept, and even the portable restrooms are noted for their cleanliness. While it might be somewhat "in the middle of no where" with a slightly rough access road, the natural rewards seem well worth the journey for those seeking a peaceful and scenic camping experience in the Blairsville, Georgia area.

Upper Chattahoochee River Campground Reviews
We did not camp, but we did make the very short trek to Horse Trough Falls. Campground looked well kept, and we appreciated that there were port-a-potties. We actually came right after they had cleaned them, which was great to see that they're well cared for. We were in Jeep Wranglers and enjoyed the rough drive up, but we also did see a family at the campground in a minivan, so it's not impossible!
Jun 14, 2024 · Janelle CunninghamA great place in the middle of no where. The road in is a little rough but no biggie. 2 really nice waterfalls within a short walk. Pretty clean Porta potties . A nice creek too. You really don't need to leave once you get there.
Jul 25, 2023 · Jayson LaneCampground was closed until March for the season. But if you get a chance it's worth going to Horse Trough Falls regardless. Especially after a rain...and the Campground being closed was a treat ....absolutely no one there.
Nov 30, 2022 · Marcus A.Nice getaway - you’re really way out in the forest out here. 30min of narrow gravel bumpy road, it’s true any car can manage to get down but it’s nerve wrecking 10mph and seems like forever. No cell signal when you’re out here. Be sure to come prepared camping since it’s such a long ways in and out. Campgrounds were nice, there’s a river or creek running along the campground, nice to sleep to. Portapotties available, bathrooms are locked (they’re not full size real bathrooms anyway). Be prepared to be one with nature.Stargazing is nice here - if you have a view between the trees, the stars are very bright and plentiful.Didn’t see much wildlife on this trip but could hear the birds. Pretty waterfall within walking distance. Be mindful of ticks, wear long pants and sleeves and inspect yourself before getting in tent or going home. I found a lone star tick on my shirt when I got home and may have been from wandering through the grass and wilderness out here.
