Strawberry Park Resort Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" that offers a wide array of amenities and activities for a memorable family vacation, Strawberry Park Resort Campground in Preston, Connecticut, located at 42 Pierce Rd, might be just the place. Drawing from customer experiences shared online, this campground has a long-standing reputation for providing a fun and engaging environment for campers of all ages. However, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of some recent changes and considerations highlighted in the reviews.
Strawberry Park Resort Campground has been a beloved destination for many years, with some visitors having fond childhood memories of the place and continuing to return as adults. The campground is praised for its "friendly staff" who are often commended for their helpfulness and positive attitude. One reviewer specifically mentioned Emily, Jodi, and Lori for their exceptional customer service, highlighting their prompt assistance in resolving minor issues and making guests feel welcome. This dedication to guest satisfaction is a significant positive aspect for those seeking a comfortable and supported camping experience near their location.
The campground boasts a variety of features designed to keep guests entertained. Multiple "nice pools" are a significant draw, providing ample opportunities for swimming and relaxation during the warmer months. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the "nice basketball and pickle ball courts," offering options for friendly competition and physical activity. The mention of "fun activities" suggests an organized program of events and entertainment for campers, although specific details about these activities are not provided in the reviews. The combination of swimming and sports facilities makes Strawberry Park a potentially attractive option for families with diverse interests looking for "camping near me" with on-site recreation.
The general upkeep of the campground is also noted positively, with one reviewer describing it as a "clean campground." This is an important factor for many campers when choosing a location, as cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall comfort and enjoyment of the camping experience. Furthermore, the campground is reported to have "quiet nights," which is a desirable feature for those seeking a peaceful and restful sleep after a day of activities.
However, recent changes at Strawberry Park Resort Campground have raised some concerns among long-time visitors, particularly regarding pet policies and cabin amenities. One significant change is the reduction in the number of pet-friendly rentals. A reviewer who had been renting the same site for years was informed that it was no longer pet-friendly, and that the campground now only has five dog-friendly rentals. This policy shift may be a significant drawback for pet owners who typically like to bring their dogs camping. The reviewer expressed a common sentiment that "people like to bring their dogs" camping and suggested alternative approaches to managing potential issues with pets, such as holding owners responsible for any damage caused by their animals.
Another notable change mentioned in the reviews concerns the cabin window coverings. The traditional curtains have been replaced with a "film" on the windows. While this may have been part of upgrades, it has resulted in a lack of privacy and increased light intrusion into the cabins. One reviewer described how outside lights shining into the camper at night became a nuisance, and also noted that shadows of people inside the cabins were visible from the outside when the lights were on. This lack of privacy could be a significant concern for those renting cabins and seeking a comfortable and private space.
Additionally, the reviews suggest potential staffing shortages at the campground. The pool no longer has an attendant, which led to concerns about safety, with one reviewer observing children doing "flips into the pool…very dangerous." The absence of a concession stand, replaced by food trucks, may also be a change that affects the convenience and dining options available to campers. While food trucks can offer variety, they may not always be consistently available or offer the same range of options as a dedicated concession stand.
One particularly concerning incident reported by a guest involved campground staff cleaning the roof of their cabin while the guest was inside, without prior notification. The noise was described as "loud and scary," and the lack of communication was unsettling. This incident highlights a potential lapse in communication and consideration for guest comfort.
Despite these concerns, the positive experiences shared by other reviewers indicate that Strawberry Park still offers a lot of value, particularly for families. The availability of multiple pools, sports courts, and organized activities, coupled with a generally clean environment and friendly staff, continues to make it an attractive option for those searching for "camping near me" with a focus on recreation and a welcoming atmosphere. The willingness of the staff to promptly address and resolve issues, as highlighted by the reviewer whose bench was replaced and hot water issue was fixed quickly, demonstrates a commitment to customer service.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. Therefore, local users interested in learning about any special offers, seasonal discounts, or package deals should contact Strawberry Park Resort Campground directly at (860) 886-1944 or +1 860-886-1944. They will be able to provide the most up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any current promotions.
In conclusion, Strawberry Park Resort Campground in Preston, CT, offers a family-friendly camping experience with a range of amenities including multiple pools and sports courts, supported by a generally friendly and helpful staff. For local users searching for "camping near me" with these features, it remains a viable option. However, potential visitors, especially those with pets or those planning to rent cabins, should be aware of the recent changes in pet policies and window coverings. It is advisable to inquire about the current pet-friendly rental availability and the nature of the window coverings when making a reservation. Despite some reported staffing concerns and the elimination of the concession stand, the positive aspects of the campground, particularly its recreational facilities and customer service, continue to attract families looking for an engaging camping getaway near their location.

Strawberry Park Resort Campground Reviews
I have been camping at Strawberry Park for many years. This year they said the site that I have been renting for the past couple years is no longer pet friendly. They now only have 5 dog friendly rentals. It’s camping… people like to bring their dogs. I understand they did some upgrades but that’s like saying no kids allowed. Kids can make just as much of a mess than a dog. There may be some people who do not train their dog or clean up after them but that shouldn’t negatively affect everyone. If a dog ruins something than the owner should be responsible to pay for the damage. Sun Fox campground says all sites are pet friendly but some are discouraged but still welcomed at owners expense. Also, they no longer have curtains. They have covered the windows with some film instead. So, all the outside lights gets into the cabin. The people across from us left their outside light on all night and it was shining into the camper. Also, from outside, you can see people’s shadows inside the campers if their light is on. Not very private. There are a lot of good things about the camp ground; friendly staff, fun activities, many nice pools, nice basketball and pickle ball courts, clean campground and quiet nights. It seems like they are short on staff. The pool no longer has an attendant. Kids were doing flips into the pool…very dangerous. There is no longer a concession stand. They have food trucks instead. The campground had people on the roof cleaning it with me inside and they didn’t even let me know ahead of time. It was so loud and scary. The guys didn’t even knock on the door to let me know they were going up there. Otherwise, it was a great experience. May try a different camp ground due to not many pet friendly rentals available.
Jul 24, 2024 · Julie RodriguesI used to visit Strawberry Park as a child, and visited with cousins a few years ago. Some friends wanted to try out camping with us, so I of course had this place in mind, considering the size, amenities and location would be perfect. I was a bit weary considering some reviews, but I am SO GLAD we went with our gut and took a visit anyways. The kids had a blast, and so did all of the adults. We had one slight issue at night, and Emily shot right over to help us out- she was so considerate of our space and all was good- our bench was a little wobbly and broke, she came right over to deliver a new one! Another friend had an issue with no hot water, maintenance shot right over again and found it was a blown fuse, fixed it right up! There wasn’t a problem they couldn’t fix!! Had we been a bit more experienced with campers, we probably could have figured some of this stuff on our own, but they were so patient and willing to help! Jodi and Lori were so amazing with all of our questions and made us feel so welcome. We all enjoyed ourselves so much, and are already looking forward to another trip!!
Jul 02, 2024 · Toni CatapanoThis place is very deceiving! I will never come back! The bathrooms were dirty need to be cleaned more frequently, they ran out of hot water immediately, the site was dirty upon arrival had to clean it myself, they allowed 2 tents on 1 site on Friday but not Saturday, do not rely on the food trucks because they were not there not the ones they advertised! Owner on the golf cart spent his Saturday ruining renters stays and forcing additional site rentals for compliance or face being kicked out. Although another site was purchased the owner drove by at least 20 times after that, group of men in golf carts showed up like the police in the middle of the night scaring our children and dogs , searching the site next to us interrogating us, almost looking for an excuse to break our reservation even though we cooperated with the inconsistent rules. It doesn’t seem like a place for new renters.. it was a waste of time and money!! Definitely never give them my money ever again .. oh and there is a lack of staff and no one watching their children !!! Children can get hurt in the pool area! the types of things I saw going on there with their drunk parents in the hot tub was appalling- and again no one from the park was monitoring that area .. not even the owner on the golf cart harassing the people at the tent sites - most likely because he can get more money out of us. Its poorly run and not worth the “resort” style camping!
Aug 25, 2024 · Jenifer TorresI read lots of negative reviews after booking, but glad we went!Check in process was super easy, we rented an RV from the park. Yes they are old, but the inside was clean upon arrival, A/C worked great! Plenty of hot water, plumbing worked. Never lost power. Only suggestion I would make would be to power wash the outside of the units and sand down the decks. I would 100% stay in unit 113 again. It’s old, but still has life left! The pools were amazing. 3 pools, 2 hot tubs all in working order. Splash pad was nice. They had activities like an egg toss, dodge ball, bingo. The gift shop is not huge, but they had everything we forgot to bring. They had food trucks on Friday and Saturday as they do not have a snack bar. They had a live band on Saturday night which was good. Golf carts were in good working order and I would suggest you get one.Everyone from staff to other guests were very nice. Everyone says hello, and waves. Many of the owners were busy sprucing up their properties some are really beautiful. It’s a diverse community, great place for children. Our 11 year old made friends in 10 minutes, so much fun!Overall, a positive experience, we plan to return in July. I would suggest this campground. If you are expecting a hotel like stay, this place is not for you.
Jun 09, 2024 · Angela PrescottIf you are looking for a party campground, where the rules are more like suggestions, security looks the other way on most things unless your friend is passed out in your campsite, and loud music plays wherever anyone wants all day and all night, then this is the place for you. However, if you want a nice family friendly place, like we were, avoid this place. (Hidden acres down the road is much better) I like music just as much as most people, but not at 3am. Security ignores most things and just warns people to not do things but they don’t kick anyone out, even when they are openly doing drugs(coke) in the campsite. Security also is not available after 11pm. Not sure how that is safe. Families really should avoid this place.
